MEMORIES FROM THE August 2015 issue of TRI-V Umph
The oldest member of TRI-V, Art Trachsel, will be turning 95 on September 16. He is really excited about it and I know he would appreciate hearing from you. Included was his address.
Diane recently underwent sigmoid colon resection due to many years of diverticulitis. The surgery went well, however she picked up an infection from the hospital. Hopefully the drugs are taking care of the infection and she can continue to heal from the surgery. Please keep Diane in your prayers.
July ended up being busier than normal for the Lardins; John wore a boot for six weeks to relieve the Achilles tendinitis to avoid any risky surgery. Fortunately it worked. Next John had a defibrillator/pacemaker installed to correct an ejection faction for the heart on June 16 and left him doing almost nothing until the final checkup on July 30. All restrictions were lifted on June 30 and he was able to play golf on the 31. For the 12 weeks that he was on the mend his energy level now has to be brought back to normal. He has a tendency to tire if he does too much. Judy and John made a trip to Buhl ID on July 16, returning on July 20. Judy and John returned from Buhl ID on the 20 and left for Corpus Christi on July 22 returning July 27. Weather was cool in ID and then Corpus Christi very hot and humid. To make matters worse there was an ecoli breakout on Friday through Sunday so had to use bought or boiled water. No restaurants were able to use their ice machines or the fountain pop. Good to see the kids and grandchildren but not an enjoyable trip. Judy decided on her own that it was time to get rid of her 2002 Ford Explorer with 66,000 miles; she has decided to get a FLEX, red, matching John’s and should get delivery around the middle of August.
Tri-V Picnic was held at Rotary Park in Livonia on July 26; 39 adults and 22 children in attendance. Future events include the Steak Roast, Final Golf at Ray’s Retreat in Gaylord MI the weekend of Aug 20-23, and the Children’s Christmas Party on December 6.
This wraps up another trip down memory lane. The “dog” days of summer have arrived. The kids and grandchildren are getting antsy. Our patience with some of them is being stretched. Maybe now would be a good time to sit down some afternoon and share some family pictures or tell them things you did when their age. Most important don’t let this special time go to waste. Until we meet you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
