MARCH MEMORIES
MEMORIES FROM THE MARCH 2009 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
March 2009 was the 72nd Anniversary of Tri-V and things were still going strong. There was not a lot in the Trifles and that included no reports of anyone in need of our prayers though we always ask you to just remember the Tri-V family in your prayers as there are those ailing that we are not aware of. On the brighter side reports were that Donna Clingerman had quit her job allowing her to be around to bug John. They also received news that their oldest daughter was due in late July, a baby girl and will make this the first grandchild for Donna and John. This was the year that John Lardin was finally able to make his long dream of being out of MI for the winter. All the years he worked for the Free Press and Northwest Airlines he worked midnights and outside and just wanted to be away from Michigan. They rented their first condo in Ft. Myers, FL and were ready to go. Judy naturally had second thoughts about it but John suggested we take her Mom with us and that sealed the deal. While in FL they had the Schaefers visit them for a week, Bev and Mike for a few days and John’s youngest sister Mary for a week. Nick Angelosanto and son Brian made it down to join Jack and John for five days of golf in Bradenton. On Feb. 9 Bill Suchner had a good day on the golf course. He won the 50/50 drawing and had a hole in one. Fortunately there were enough winnings in the drawing to buy the round of drinks though Bill thought it was a dumb rule or tradition that the one getting a hole in one has to buy the drinks. Upcoming events included the Easter Egg Hunt on March 29 at Maple Lanes Golf Club, Sterling Heights, the Tri-V Anniversary Party on April 18 at the Maples of Novi, Final Pinochle on April 25 at Docs, Livonia, May Open House on May 16 at Gateway Golf Course, Romulus, Ladies May dinner on May 20 at Bonefish Grill, Novi, TRI-V Steak Roast on Aug. 8 at Metalla Park, Wixom and finally the Tri-V Wives Weekend Getaway scheduled for Aug. 28 and 29 at Saravilla Bed and Breakfast, Alma. Final pinochle standings for the year had Robyn Mackson finishing in first place with 155.5 points, Brian Trachsel in second place with 142 points and John Mackson in third place with 141 points.
MEMORIES FROM THE MARCH 2014 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
Our prayers go out to Terry and Ellie Connolly on the loss of her sister, Mary Copperstone.
What a beautiful month February for those fortunate enough to be in Florida. There was very little rain and a temp closer or in the low 80s almost every day. Judy and John Lardin made a short trip to Michigan to celebrate granddaughter Bella’s eleventh birthday. John returned to FL on March 5 and Judy on March 7. Mike and granddaughter, Alyssa, were able to make it to FL to visit for 10 days. Nick Angelosanto joined John on his return to Ft. Myers for a week and a needed break from the miserable weather. Final pinochle was set for April 5 at the Cadieux Café, Detroit. There will be feather bowling followed by dinner. The March family social is set for March 28 which will consist of a family fun movie night at Oak Pointe Church in Novi. The 2014 golf season is scheduled to start April 14 at Hickory Hills Golf Course, Wixom. Open house is set for May 10 at Brentwood Country Club. Tri-V picnic is scheduled for July 13 at Rotary Park, Livonia. The children’s Christmas party is scheduled for Dec. 14 at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena, Livonia. Finally Final Golf is set for Aug. 15-17 in Gaylord with accommodations at Ray’s Retreat. Final pinochle scores for the season had Romas Bliudzius in first place with 153 points, Robyn Mackson in second with 144 points and Bob Kuhr in third with 135.5 points. This wraps up another trip down memory lane. Was there something special that happened in March 2004 or 2009 that was not reported? If so maybe share it with someone now. Judy and John’s first trip to FL was 2008 and the extended stay started in 2009 and they have been fortunate to stay at the same location since then including 2014. Soon it will be Easter and maybe now would be a good time to share the memories of your childhood with your children or grandchildren, the new Easter dress you wore or that first visit from the Easter bunny. Our lives are filled with so many happy memories. Let us continue to share them with each other. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
