JUNE MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE JUNE 2009 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Our prayers went out to Bob Wendt and Kathy and Art Dushary on the loss of Peg on May 15. Peg and Bob had been married nearly 63 years. She had suffered so much but never complained about it. June Initiation was held on June 6 at Walker’s Speakeasy, Redford, where we welcomed our newest member, Dave Burke, into the Club. He was sponsored by Jay Trachsel. Judy and John Lardin were once again traveling. They started with spending the Memorial Day weekend as guests of Jacqui and Jack Schaefer at their summer home in northern Michigan. On their return they spent a week visiting Larry and gamily in Corpus Christi, Texas. As usual it was already hot and humid and uncomfortable. There was also a thank you from Babs Wagner for all the cards and visits on her 90th birthday. Coming events included the TRI-V Club Picnic set for July 25 at Mettala Park, Wixom, TRI-V Steak Roast on August 8 at Mettala Park, Wixom, the Tri-V Wives Weekend Getaway set for August 28 and 29 at the Saravilla Bed and Breakfast, Alma and finally Final Golf the weekend of August 28-30 in Gaylord, MI.

MEMORIES FROM THE JUNE 2014 ISSUE OPF TRI-V UMPH

Judy and John left June 12 for Corpus Christi, TX to visit Larry and family. The weather in Texas was in the 90s plus and the humidity 80% plus. Though uncomfortable when the grandchildren asked “when are Grandma and Grandpa coming?” we go. Initiation of Dale Horst and Ryan Trachsel was held on June 6 at Drakeshire Lanes, Farmington Hills, MI with 21 members in attendance. The Ladies Annual May luncheon was held on June 21 at Brass Point Restaurant, Farmington Hills. The Anniversary party was scheduled for June 27 at Joy Manor in Westland. The Tri-V Picnic is scheduled for July 13 at Rotary Park in Livonia. The women of Tri-V will have a getaway on Aug. 4-6 at Hankerd Inn Resort in Pleasant Lake, MI. Final golf is scheduled for Aug. 15-17 at Ray’s Retreat in Gaylord. The children’s Christmas party will be held Dec. 14 at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena in Livonia. This wraps up another trip down Memory Lane. By the time most have read this Father’s Day would have passed. Hopefully you were able to take the time last month to spend that little time with Mom for Mother’s Day and still have the chance to get into good graces for Dad. Take that extra minute to spend some time with Dad or Grandpa. Let him know how important he is to you and your children. Too many times we are in touch with Dad when we want or need something from him. Let this time be different. Spend some time during the week to just sit and chat with him and live those memories that you might remember happening when you were younger or better yet ask him; let him tell you things that you never knew happened or do not remember happening with him. If you are not fortunate enough to have your Dad or Grandpa with you then share with other members of your family. MOST IMPORTANT, just because you are both males never, never are too proud to give Dad of Grandpa a hug regardless of the occasion if even just a “hello”. Remember the day will come for all of us when we will wish that we could give Dad or Grandpa ONE MORE HUG. Until we see you in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
