    GRANDPARENTS

With September being the month we celebrate Grandparents Day, we send this to our Grandmas in TRI-V.

Once upon a time there was child ready to be born. The child asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how as I going to live there being so small and helpless?” God replied, “Among the angels, I’ll choose one for you. Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”
The child further inquired, “But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.”
God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel the angel’s love and be very happy.”
Again the child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?”
God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words that you will ever hear, and with much patience and care your angel will teach you how to speak.”
I’ve heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?”
God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”
At the moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now please tell me my angel’s name.”
God replied, “Her name is not important. You will simply call her “GRANDMA.”

    THE LARDINS

    THE LARDINS

July proved to be another busy month for Judy and John. John restarted his chemo every two weeks while Judy was golfing every Mon. morning with Jan Cashman in a Farming Hills league with an 8am tee time. Judy continues to take care of our 94 year neighbor who is in assisted living in Northville. Bev is teaching summer school so Tue., Wed. and Thur. Judy watches granddaughter Alyssa half the day. Of course Alyssa always wants a sleepover and go shopping. John has been able to play golf with TRI-V retires on Mon. and with another group of retires on Friday. Judy’s sister and niece were here for a long weekend and was an experience. They did make a couple trips to Caesars in Windsor to see David Foster, Chicago and Howie Mandel. Other than that we are doing little. Please continue your prayers for all in the TRI-V Family and friends as they are needed and do work.

    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

The month of June started quietly as we celebrated granddaughter Alyssa’s ninth birthday but got hectic the end of the month. We started with picking Terry and Ellie Connolly the beginning of the month at 12:30AM and spending the night with us. That followed by being part of 14 TRI-Vers attending the memorial service for Mark Elliott. Then the fun started. On the 14th a lengthily meeting for John’s 60th class reunion next June then chemo finally started again on the 18th and disconnected on the 20th. On the 21st Judy and John took off for Corpus Christi TX to visit Larry, Kim and the grandkids returning on the 28th. The temp for the week was anywhere from a high of 88 to 97 with the heat index from 98 to 106. Much too hot for Judy and John. Jacob was on the Little League All Star team and did get to see him play in two games. Larry and John did get to play nine holes of golf with the temp 88 when they teed off at 9am. Judy and John were celebrating their 56 wedding anniversary on the 29th and John back on chemo July 1st. Other than the above, nothing going for us. Still asking all to please continue to remember John and all others of the TRI-V Family in your prayers. They do work

    THE LARDINS

    THE LARDIN’S

Judy and John returned from Ft. Myers on April 3rd (Judy’s birthday) and have been on the run ever since. John had a cat scan and has not heard from the Drs. so guess no news is good news. He had been off chemo for three weeks so was a good time to have cataract surgery on his right eye and to be followed by the left eye on May 9th. It also allowed for him to have some necessary dental work. All this is necessary since he is on chemo he has to be off chemo three to four weeks before any type of surgery or dental work then an additional three to four weeks to make sure there is no infection. For most of you were able to read the update Judy sent out in April so you know how busy they have been. Future plans are a couple trips Caesar’s Windsor for couple of shows and a trip to Hillsdale to visit John’s uncle who is 96 years old and still lives by himself. In the mean time please continue with your prayers not only for John but all fellow TRI-V Member, their spouses and family. THEY DO WORK.

    MOTHERS DAY

FOR ALL MOTHERS AND GRANDMOTHERS ON MOTHERS DAY

We have printed this before but feel it is worth repeating with all the Mothers we have in TRI-V.

… And God Created A Mother

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when the angel appeared and said “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one…Six pairs of hands? No Way!”

“It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” said the Lord. “It’s the three pairs of eyes…one pair that sees through closed doors when she asks,”What are u kids doing in there?…Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know. And, of course, the ones here in the front that can look at a child who goofs up and says, “I understand and I love you.” without so much as uttering a word…”

The angel circled the model very slowly “It’s too soft,” she sighed.

“But tough!” said the Lord excitedly. You cannot imagine what this mother can do or endure.

    “Can it think?”

“Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise and dream,” said the Creator.

Finally the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek. “There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told you you were trying to put too much into the model.”

“It’s not a leak,” said the Lord. “It’s a tear.”

    “What’s it for?”

“It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride.”

“You’re a genius,” said the angel.

The Lord looked somber. “I didn’t put it there.”

    J LARDIN UPDATE

    J LARDIN

    =C2=A0

By the time you Judy and I will be back in MI. We will be leaving on

Sun., March 31st, and stopping on Ocala to spend a few days with Ellie and

Terry Connolly then continue through OH to visit John’s cousin in Akron OH. This is a new way home and will avoiding all the heavy traffic through GA and KY and Cincinnati OH. John has continued with his chemo very other week and usually ends up with one tired day in that period. We Should arrive home on April 4th. This has been another wonderful winter in Ft. Myers and fortunately we have found a new rental in the same location for next year as our current owners after 11 years will be coming down for the winter months. We have been told that the new owners have no intention of retiring soon so hopefully we will have another long run at renting. It sure makes it nice knowing each year we have the same place to come to and being able to leave some articles here instead of carting back and forth each year

On our return we will celebrate grandson Dante’s confirmation on April 8th. Judy has a face time from Alyssa and asking already for a sleep over on Fri., April 5th. Of course Judy said “We will have to wait and see” but you know what that means.

John did get in five of rounds this year Did not do the best as the

loss of weight and chemo wore him out some but he is looking forward to joining the TRI-V Golf League this summer.

Looking forward to see all at the Anniversary Party. Until take care of oneanother and continue with prayers for all in need.

    THE LARDINS

    THE LARDINS

February proved to be a good month for Judy and John. The weather on the most part was in the lot to high 80s even hitting 90 one day. John continues with hi chemo treatments every two weeks. Best news is John did play 3 rounds of golf (9 holes) but was tired the next ay. Will just take time. Judy continues to golf every Friday morning. As reported earlier she did make a trip back to Mich the end of Jan. to help neighbor. The 25th of Feb. granddaughter Alyssa had a talent show at the Village Theater in Canton. Judy told her that she would be there for it. She talked to Grandpa and asked him if he would make it. Grandpa never says “No” and he also went up on the 21st for the show and returned on the 22nd of Feb. Judy came back on the 24th and on Tue. The 26th came down with something and spent all day Tue. Thru Thur. in bed, sleeping most of the time. As of Friday she is felling a little better and now it is John’s turn to take is of her. There will be two more chemo sessions in Fl. and will probably be leaving April 1st to retiurn back to Mi. Grandson Dante will be making his confirmation on April 8th and Alyssa will be making her First Communion the end of April or first part of May. I ask you to continue to remember Onallee,Vickie, Mark Elliott, myself and all other members of the TRI-V Family in need of our prayers, THEY DO WORK. Take care of one another..

    LARDINS

Judy and John left Mich. on New Years Day and arriving in Ft. Myers on Friday about one in the afternoon to 80 degree sunny weather. The sunny weather lasted about 5 days and then the cool front came in and most of the month of Jan. has had temps in the high 60s to the high 70s with one or two 80 degree days. Lots of clouds and sprinkles on and off though last sun we did have four inches of rain that John had to “shovel.” We have been busy playing hand-and–foot along with euchre plus John continues with his chemo treatment every other week. He did manage to get to the driving range with Cal and Jan Cashnman to hit some golf balls and was supposed to play golf but got rained out. Judy is playing golf on Fri. with Jan Cashman and other girls from Jan’s complex. Ellie and Terry Connolly made a trip down from Ocala and had a nice dinner with Jan, Judy, Marian, Cal, John and Lee. Judy will be making a trip back to Mich. leaving on the 31st and returning beck to Ft. Myers on Feb. 4th. She wile be helping her 93 year old neighbor as well as having a sleep-over with granddaughter Alyssa. As you knew every month I ask you to continue to pray for the TRI-V Family in need of our prayers and would like to add Terry Connolly who is scheduled to have back surgery on Feb. 4th and Mark Elliott who is suffering major issues as well as friends. REMEMBER, THE PRAYERS DO WORK.
