The Lardins May prove to be a busy…

    The Lardins
May prove to be a busy month for Judy and John. Upon their return from Florida the end of April they had to set up doctor appointments for John. He had to get his pacemaker/defalcator checked with the heart doctor and visit the chemo doctor to restart Chemo treatments and fortunately there was no break in receiving the chemo. Did have a cat scan and am happy to say all turned out well. The tumor has crystallized which prevents it from growing and since the last cat scan has shrunk a very little. Still has to have his yearly checkup with the eye doctor because of his diabetes then appoints in August for his echo and carotid Doppler check. On the good side John has been able to play golf the last two weeks of May with the Friday group. Other activities kept us busy celebrating Bev’s birthday with a drive bye of 41 cars then granddaughter Alyssa had a drive bye for her 10th birthday with 39 cars. John’s Uncle, his Mothers brother, who will turn 100 in Feb. just had a pacemaker and came through with flying colors. Uncle Mike just quit driving two years ago but still cooks dinner every night. Up until two years he lived alone in Hillsdale Mi. and is still sharp as a tack. Other than that we have been limited on what we can do with the lockdown. Continue to pray for your family, the TRI-V Family and all your friends that we can get through this dilemma and get back to something normal. PRAYERS DO WORK

MEMORIES FROM THE JUNE 2015 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
Our prayers go out to Bob and Sherry Kuhr on the passing of Bob’s brother Richard from a heart attack. The funeral will be held in Cincinnati, OH.
The summer season begins with Brian Trachsel organizing a marble practice/learning event for all those interested in learning a new game while honing their skills. It is likely that marbles will replace pinochle for the 2016 season due to a waning interest level of interest in pinochle. The TRI-V Wives swim will be held at the home of Bev and Mike Lardin at 1 p.m. in Canton, MI. The August meeting will be held at the Hankerd Inn during the wives stay there. The ladies getaway is scheduled at the Hankerd Inn in Pleasant Lake, MI from August 3-5. The Anniversary Party is scheduled for June 19 at Joy Manor in Westland. Entertainment will be provided by the musical group Killarney Creek. Arika and Ryan Trachsel announced the birth of their daughter Piper Jean on May 22. Final Golf will be held August 21-23 at Ray’s Treat, Gaylord, MI. 28 golfers have committed to attend. John Lardin was diagnosed with Achilles tendinitis and the doctor ruled out surgery as too risky. June 9 John will have a cauterization to determine if he will need a pacemaker/defibrillator implant. Just proves John takes better care of Judy than she does of him. On June 1 Alyssa turned 5 and she has turned out to be Judy’s little girl. Judy and John will be making a trip to Buhl, Idaho to celebrate Judy’s uncle’s birthday who be 90. It was 10 years ago that Judy and her mom made the same trip to celebrate his 80th birthday. Her uncle is her mom’s youngest brother and the only living of her five siblings. Somewhere in between is a trip to Corpus Christi, TX to visit Larry and family. This wraps up another trip down Memory Lane. Here it is the first part of June and the beginning of vacation season. The kids should be getting out of school in a week, but with the Covid19 they have doing online school for the past two months so much different for all this year. Now would be a good time to take with your children, grandchildren what you did when fist getting out of school. Did your family start planning for a vacation; perhaps you were going to start a summer job or play a sport in a summer league. Don’t let these special times die in the back of your memory. Share them with your family and friends. Our children and grandchildren will have many stories to tell with the pandemic and then the protests. Until we see you next month in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

MEMORIES FROM THE JUNE 2010 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
Members of the TRI-V family were in need of our prayers. Dave Ruetenik was now at Lakeland Nursing Home, Southfield, and is being well taken care of. Geri Ruetenik is now in the middle of another round of chemo. It will be a couple of weeks before she knows if this is working. Betty Galloway continues to have good and bad days in Mt. Pleasant. She has been doing well overall, just very slow going; George Hoffman is recovering well from his tummy tuck surgery with only mild discomfort. We ask you to remember all in your prayers. Congratulations to Judy and John Lardin on the arrival of granddaughter, Alyssa on June 1. The parents are Bev and Mike Lardin and most excited of all is daddy Mike. Robyn and John Mackson are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their third little one. Art Trachsel has decided to sell his condo in Sarasota FL and once the condo is sold he plans to move back to MI to be close to Diane and Ken. Upcoming scheduled events include the TRI-V Family Picnic on July 18 at Gunnar Mettala Park, Wixom, and the TRI-V Steak Roast on August 1 also at Gunnar Mettala Park, Wixom. The TRI-V Wives Weekend Getaway will be the weekend of August 20-22 at Mannsiding Lodge Bed & Breakfast, Harrison MI and TRI-V Final Golf the weekend of August 20-22 at Ray’s Retreat, Gaylord, MI.

THE LARDINS We finally made it home on…

    THE LARDINS
We finally made it home on Sat., April 25th at 1:30 in the afternoon. We left Ft. Myers on Fri. the 24 at 7:30am and drove for 13 hours to Corbin KY. We left Corbin at 6:30am on Sat. arriving in Westland at 1:30pm. The traffic was almost non existence until we hit Metro Airport on I-275. A wonder trip. We were scheduled to leave Fl. the end of March but the chemo Drs urged me to stay in Fl. if possible to continue with my chemo treatments. THE owner of the condo was gracious and allowed us to stay as long as we needed to. Judy was ready to come home the end of April as we we’re in a lockdown in Fl. and when we returned to Mi. we are currently in a two week quarantine until May 9th. Judy says she has closets she can clean out. As of this writing she has not started that. I am waiting to hear from the chemo Dr. here to see when we will get a cat scan and restart chemo. All a waiting period. It is good to be home in our own bed after four months and looking to be in contact with the family and our TRI-V Family. Until then continue to take care of one another and continue to [ray for everyone. PRAYERS DO WORK.

Normally as I write this I am telling you how wonderful March was here in FL and we are on way back to MI due to arrive on March 29th. The weather was great in March. No rain and the last week the temps were in the 90s, setting new records four days in a row and the temp in the high to low 90s the other days. With the virus effecting my chemo Drs in Mi and Fl encouraged me to stay in Ft. Myers as long as possible to get my chemo. After discussing all with the family they also agreed we should stay. I talked to the owners and they graciously are allowing us to stay until April 24th and allowing me to get two more chemo treatments here. We plan on leaving on the 24th and hope to get home on the 25th or 26th at the latest. We will have the two week quarantine when we get back but looking forward to seeing all as soon as allowed. Until please continue to pray for all of TRI-V Family as well as everyone in the world that we can lick this virus.

February proved to be a busy and short…

February proved to be a busy and short month or Judy and John John has his usual two chemo treatments for the month. They played golf on Sunday afternoons with Jan and Cal Cashman and a group from Century 21 followed by dinner. Judy and Jan played golf on Friday morning unless they were in a painting class. Then there was a card making class. Of course there was cards, hand and foot on Monday afternoons, euchre on Thursday evening at New Approach and euchre on Friday at Century 21 and two stage plays during the month. There was a weekend visit with Ellie and Terry Connolly from Ocala which was a full day with lunch/dinner and an evening of card playing. Squeeze in a trip to Michigan for the winter break of Alyssa. Unfortunately she had a fever and the visit with her lasted a couple of hours. They were to able to spend time with “little” brother Nick and John was able to be his partner at pinochle. The good news is John has talked to the owner and the rental is good for as long as wanted into the forseeable future with the rent remaining the same for next year. Knowing there are a few things missed out but as you can tell it was a busy month.
