Congratulations to the incoming officers Vice President George Hoffman and Secretary Matt VanHollenbeke and returning Treasurer Brian Trachsel. The council for 2019 will consist of Nick, Dale, Jeff, Mike, Bill, and Matt Hoffman. Congratulations to the new Tri V Club Officers.

    February President’s Message

Just as I was started to think we might have a decent, mild winter, I was reminded that there is no such thing here. The snow and cold found us in a major way. The kids have enjoyed having the week off of school. I think the week off would have been nicer if they could have actually gone outside to play. Either way, I’ll never complain about a snow day (or four).

In January we had our council party at Karl’s Cabin. I couldn’t make it because of a hockey tournament but it sounds like it was a lot of fun. We also had our monthly marbles gatherings. Michelle and I hosted in January. The kids all enjoyed the evening playing together and of course the adults had fun too. We have started our second half of bowling. Neither team was very successful in the first half. Hopefully we both get things going in the second half.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 12th at Perfect Game (formerly known as Drakeshire Lanes).

    January President’s Message

Happy new year! Hopefully everyone got through the holiday season whirlwind. It’s always a busy time, and while it’s so nice to get together with friends and family, it’s also nice to get back into a routine again. This is what I told my kids when they went back to school Wednesday while I enjoyed the rest of the week off. Sorry kids.
The October stag events was held in December. Twelve guys (10 members) went out to Commerce to try some fowling at On The Dunes. We were all awesome at it immediately and hardly ever missed the target. We bet one dollar per game and, as per Tri-V tradition, everyone broke even. A good time was had by all.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday at Drakshire. We will be in the party room this time not in the traditional meeting room.
Cheers to a happy and healthy 2019.

    December President’s Message

It’s hard to believe another year is coming to a close. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Now it is time to set our sights on the impending holiday season. We will kick that off this weekend with marbles on Saturday evening for all those marble players and our annual Children’s Christmas party on Sunday. This has always been a favorite event of mine, and for the first time in a few years my family will be able to make it and the kids are excited to able to spend some time with their Tr-V family. I hope to see everyone there.

The holidays provide us many opportunities to get together, some time off work, a chance to travel perhaps, and a list of things to do that seems to never end. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I encourage everyone to find some time to reflect on your blessings whether they be many or few. Be kind and generous; for your kindness and generosity are a blessing to others. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy 2019.

    November President’s Message

The first snowfall of the season came early. Hopefully it isn’t a sign of things to come. Judging by my morning commute, it is still construction season in Michigan. Snow this early could cause a problem for those road crews trying to finish up before winter. Since the last paper went out, we’ve winterized the cottage, had parent teacher conferences, and hauled in loads of candy trick or treating. We’ve also had some opportunities to get together for marbles, bowling, and a bike racing event at the Velodrome. The October stag event was cancelled due to a projected low number of golfers. The committee is trying to plan a makeup event in its place. Our November meeting will be held at Drakeshire Lanes this Tuesday at 6:15. Please try to be there if you are able. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

    October President’s Message

Fall has officially arrived in Michigan. Take a moment to enjoy the pleasantly cool weather and the lovely fall colors because as we all know they don’t last long.
Bowling season is underway and as always our team has decided to sandbag early on so that we can destroy everyone later. Marbles season is also underway. Hopefully the first week went well for our hosts and their guests.
This month we have two events; the November social will be held in October to take advantage of the weather and try to maximize the number of attendees before people start to escape Michigan. We will be checking out the Lexus Velodome in Detroit. The following weekend we will be holding our October Stag event at Hickory Hills for some glow golf. This was a lot of fun last year. Hopefully we will have a good turn out and decent weather.
Please plan on attending this month’s club meeting at Drakeshire Lanes on Tuesday. We will get started at 6:15.

    September President’s Message

September is always a month of new beginnings. The kids are back in school to begin a new year with all new enthusiasm. The many Tri-V teachers are also excited to begin a new year. We begin to see changes in the weather and the leaves as we look forward to all the fun fall activities Michigan has to offer like apple picking, football games and shoveling snow.

August was a busy month for the club. The golf league wrapped up with Mike Trachsel winning the league, much to no one’s surprise. The men then traveled to Oscodo to celebrate a successful golf season. It was a fun weekend (mostly because I golfed well enough to win some money). We also had the annual steak roast held at Rotary Park in Livonia.

This week we will have our Anniversay Dinner at Denise’s in Wixom. We will also be stating our bowling league and our monthly meetings. Please try to be at every meeting possible as we discuss many important topics and are always seeking input from club members. This Tuesday’s meeting will be at Drakshire lanes. We will try to start close to 6 as the September agenda is always very lengthy. Hope to see you there.

    August President’s Message

Another month of summer has come and gone. July was full of sun and fun. Camping, swimming, and baseball were the big activities for us. Hopefully everyone has enjoyed the sun and heat this summer. The Tri-V picnic was a lot of fun as usual. The kids enjoyed the games and playing together. Thanks to Ryan, Lee, and Jay for planning this event. This month we will have the men’s final golf weekend in Oscoda and the steak roast. Keep in mind that our regular meetings start up again in September. Plan on attending the meetings the second Tuesday of each month at Drakeshire Lanes.

    July President’s Message

Summer always seems to fly by. The 4th of July is already behind us. We just spent the last week at our cottage and it was so hot even the dog just wanted to play in the lake and sit in the air conditioning. I was able to find some time to golf on the men’s golf league a couple of weeks ago for the first time this season. I golfed like it was my first time all season, but it was good to be back out on the course. The golf league will continue its second half throughout July. I may make a guest appearance here and there now that the kids baseball and softball seasons are wrapping up. The Tri-V picnic is on the calendar for July 29th at Rotary Park in Livonia. I hope everyone can make it. It is always a fun filled day. Until then, keep cool.

    June President’s Message

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads of Tri-V. I hope you have a nice, relaxing Sunday. I realize my President’s Message is a week late (The paper went out last Sunday) so I apologize for that.
We have already had a busy month as a club. The golf league has just wrapped up the first half and will begin the second half tomorrow. If you couldn’t make the first half of golf, you can still get in on the second half. There is a morning group that usually tees off around 10 and the regular league tees off at 4:30.
We held our final pinochle and marbles event at ComedySportz Detroit, an improv comedy theater in Ferndale. From all accounts, it was a fun time. Thanks to Matt Hoffman for setting this event up.
Friday evening we held an initiation for new club member Chris Demick. Twelve members attended this event at the VFW hall in Wixom. We had a great meal of steak, potatoes, beans, and salad. Thanks to Brian for setting everything up and to Dale for perfectly cooking the steaks. Welcome Chris, glad to have you aboard.
Next weekend we will have the family event at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica. We will be taking in a baseball game. The field is new and beautiful, the baseball is entertaining, and there are a lot of things for the kids to do. This should be a fun event for the kids and the adults. If you have not yet reserved a ticket, give Mike a call. I think he may have a few more to sell.
Enjoy this beautiful weather we’re having. Happy Summer!
