    Presidents Message

It’s sad to say another summer has come and gone but Labor Day is behind us and the kids are back in school. We hope that in person schooling can be held safely all year.
The Tri V golf season ended on August 16th with Mike Trachsel easily winning the season championship over an injured Matt V plus a healthy Jay and Lew. Congratulations Mike.
The Tri V golf weekend was held in Mount Pleasant this year with 3 great courses. The format was Ryder Cup and the Bill Trachsel team beat the Dave Burke team with a Sunday of great golf. Great job Matt V and Mike.
We are looking into a glow golf Stag party sometime in September or October. If it can be arranged a notice will be sent out.
We will have a Tri V club meeting on September 14th at the bowling alley if possible at 6:15pm. We need to discuss the remaining year and next years calendar of events and dues. Try to be on time. If a change of the site of the meeting is needed I will send out a notice.

Presidents Message The Tri V golf season is…

    Presidents Message

The Tri V golf season is winding down with only 2 weeks to go. Matt V has a commanding lead in the second half and can’t be caught. There are a lot of other scrambling to make the playoffs as a wild card. The last week will be August 16th and we will feature the playoffs and a 2 person low net side bet.
The golf weekend will take place on the August 20th, 21st, 22nd up in Mount Pleasant. Matt V has spent a lot of time getting all the arrangements finalized , Thank you Matt. Good luck to all golfers.
The Tri V picnic was held at Rotary Park in Livonia on July 18th . We had 26 adults and 11 kids in attendance. We went back to our normal format with families bringing a dish to share. We again had great weather and a good time catching up with people we haven’t seen recently do to restrictions.
The Tri V steak Roast was held Saturday August 7th at Jeff and Karen’s house. The pool was opened at 1:30 dinner around 5:00. 14 people were in attendance. The water was warm and the food was great. Dale did cooking and Jan for suppling a great salad. It was a nice afternoon and it was great seeing everyone. Thanks to Jeff and Karen for opening their home to Tri V again.
We will have a Tri V club meeting on September 13th at the bowling alley if possible at 6:30pm. We need to discuss reactivating the calendar or events and dues. Try to be on time. If a change of the site of the meeting is needed I will send out a notice.

The Memorial for John Lardin on June 28th…

The Memorial for John Lardin on June 28th was wonderful time to remember John’s life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lardin family. John lived life to the fullest and loved everyone. John will be missed by all of us.
The Tri V golf season 1st half was won by Mike Trachsel. The second half is under way and the golf scores have been much lower overall. Points are hard to come by. Good luck to everyone in the second half.
The Tri V picnic is scheduled for July 18th at Rotary Park pavilion #3. We will start about 1:00 with lunch beginning around 1:30. We will go back to our normal format with everyone bringing a dish to share. We will supply water only so bring your own beverages ( I will have an alcohol permit) cups, plates and utensils. The games may be pared back as we have fewer young kids. Volley ball courts are in the area and they were used by the older kids last year. If possible I would ask that people that know they are going to attend and have kids coming drop me an email or text with the number of kids and ages for game planning. Please save the date and plan on attending. The committee is currently Jay and Brian Trachsel.
Jeff and Karen have again offered their home for the Tri V steak roast. The roast will be on August 7th. The dinner will be around 4:30 to 5:00. Please bring your own drinks, place setting, and utensils. Jeff has stated the pool will be opened at 1:30for anyone who would like to swim. Please let Jeff know if you are coming ASAP so he can order the steaks.
Matt V has the golf weekend hotel and courses set for Mt Pleasant on the weekend of August 20th, 21st and 22nd. The cost will be $375. Money is needed by July 10th at the latest.

    Presidents Message

The Memorial for John Lardin is set for a 9:30 visitation followed by a 10:00 Mass on June 28th at St Mary Cause of Joy on Wayne Road in Westland. Military honors will follow the Mass.

The Tri V golf season 1st half has two more weeks to go and points are getting harder to come by as scores have been going down. There are still a number of people in the hunt for the 1st half winner.

The Tri V open House on May 15th at Rolling Meadows golf course went very well with great weather and good food. We had an outside setup for the food and drinks. Nick did another great job on this event assisted by Dale Horst.

The Tri V picnic scheduled for July 18th at Rotary Park pavilion #3. We will be discussing the picnic food format and reporting back in an upcoming paper. Please save the date and plan on attending. I will be trying to get a count for attendance by the first part of July. The committee is currently Jay and Steve but I would like a couple people to volunteer to help plan and run things on the day of the picnic.

The Tri V golf season is well under way and so far the weather has not been great but we have avoided any rainouts so far. The scores on the first 2 weeks were not very good and then the 3rd week there was a lot of good scores which made points hard to get.
The Tri V open House is set for May 15th at Rolling Meadows golf course in Whitmore Lake. We will have an 8:30 shotgun so everyone needs to be at the course ready to go by no later than 8:00am. The cost is $70.

    Presidents Message

I was saddened to hear that friend and longtime member John Lardin passed away in Florida on Friday April 9th. John had experienced failing health since a hernia operation in early February. John and Judy’s sons Mike and Brian were able to see John in the hospital while Larry and Johnny face timed before Easter. John was moved to Hope Hospice House near their home just after Easter.
John will be cremated in Florida and there will be a remembrance service in Michigan at a later date.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Judy and the entire Lardin family. John’s sprite, laughter, and thoughtfulness will be missed by all of his Tri V friends. John had become Tri V’s soul leading prayers at meetings and many events.

    We will miss you John.

Presidents Message The Tri V summer schedule is…

    Presidents Message

The Tri V summer schedule is on the horizon with new hope that a full schedule can happen next year. The vaccination rollout is picking up steam and state restrictions are slowly being relaxed. Liz and I got our second shot today and I know of other of the older members and spouses already receiving both shots also. Hopefully everyone will soon be fully vaccinated so we can gather face to face without worries.
The Tri V golf season will hopefully begin April 19th.
Nick has the May open house scheduled for May 15th at Rolling Meadows see the report in this month’s paper.
The Tri V family picnic scheduled for Sunday July 18th at Rotary park pavilion 3.
I heard Dale Horst that is heart valve replacement was performed on March 5th and he was set to be released from the hospital March 8th. Dale is looking forward to being back to normal activities soon.

    Presidents Message

I am hopeful that the vaccine rollout will ramp up quickly to allow a return to what we would all consider normal by the start of summer.
The Tri V calendar at this time consists of only outdoor activities starting with Tri V golf in April then the May open house, The Tri V family picnic scheduled for Sunday July 18th, the Tri V steak roast in August and final golf. All other activities are on hold until indoor activities can be held safely.
I am requesting help for all the above listed events so please let me know if you can help on any of the committees.
I have reserved Rotary Park pavilion #3 for July 18th for the Tri V picnic.
Toward the end of February Dale Horst will undergo a heart valve replacement so keep Dale in your thoughts and prayers.
The 2 Tri V bowling teams returned to action February 2nd and the young
Tri V team won the 1st half roll off by 1 point. Why to go guys.

Presidents Message We have all finally said farewell…

    Presidents Message

We have all finally said farewell and good riddance to 2020. Let’s pray 2021 is a better year for everyone. There is hope that the vaccine will allow us to get back to a more normal lifestyle.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas and New Year holidays. Liz and I decided against having the whole family to our house and visited with our kids one family at a time. It was certainly different not being with all the kids and grandkids at the same time. I know we all missed spending the holidays together as a group.
As a reminder as per the vote taken at the September meeting all club officers are staying on an extra year so we do not need a meeting to vote for officers. There are no scheduled events until golf starts in April. Dave and I will remain on this committee. Nick and Matt V have started the May open house planning. I will plan trying to get a pavilion reserved for the July picnic. I will be contacting people involved in summer activity events last year to see if they volunteer for the same events again this year. Since many events have been canceled I will try to assign people to help out on the events that will take place. Events for next fall may be possible but we will hold off until we have a clearer picture of the virus situation.
    Stay safe , Stay healthy
