    82nd TRI-V Anniversary Party article

The 82nd Anniversary Party was held at the VFW Hall on Loon Lake Road, Wixom on April 14, 2019 from 4-8pm. There was a total of 30 in attendance. The incoming President Jay Traschel and incoming Vice President George Hoffman each gave a speech on how honored they were to serve in these positions and looked foward to the coming year with great enthusiam. The hall tables were each beautifully decorated with clear glass cylinders containing lighted floating candles and cut flowers around the bases. This made for a very festive look. The food was a buffet catered by Bill’s Catering of Novi and it was delicious. There was chicken cordon bleu, pork tenderloin, roast beef, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, salda and cake for dessert. After dinner we were entertained by the Newburg Jam Trio for about an hour and half. Another wonderful Anniversary Party..

    TRI-V Council Party

    Tri V Council Party

The 2019 Tri V council party was held on Saturday January 19th at Karls Cabin. We had 14 couples sign up but only 10 couples attended. 3 couples had to bow out due to health reasons a one couple did not what to venture back out into the snowy weather after working all afternoon. Our dinner reservations were for 7:45 with the dueling piano’s beginning around 8:30. We were able to get to our tables before the reservation time and were seated and had our dinner orders in and served before the entertainment started. Most comments about the 2 piano players were that they were not as good as the married couple we saw 2 years ago but they we very good players and we all had a good time. The entertainment went until a little after 11:00.

We had to pay a $7 cover charge for 28 people with a $9 reservation fee that totaled $205. The budget was $175 so we assessed $3 per couple for $30 for a total of $205.
In attendance were the Geo. Hoffmans, Vanhollebekes, Scheafers, Macksons, M. Trachsels, B. Trachsels, Jeff Trachsels, R. Trachsels, Jay Trachsel, S. Trachsel.

Tri V Council Party The Tri V Council…

    Tri V Council Party

The Tri V Council Party was held on Saturday January 13th at The Roseland Curling Center in Windsor. We arrived at 4 pm to get our curling shoes ready and pick teams. We had 12 curlers and 4 people watched from the bar dining room. At 4:30 we were giving curling instructions and the games were underway. The first game was rather a dismal curling display but everyone got better was the games progressed. We curled from 4:30 to 6:30 and ultimately the team of Michelle, Jay, Brian, Amber, Matt and Cristine Hoffman defeated Bill, Mike Steve, Nick, Liz and Kristin. We moved upstairs to the bar to applause of our fans. Dinner was preordered the food arrived soon after we all found our seats.
The evening was fun the curlers had a good time and no one got hurt although there were 2 minor falls. The cost of curling was covered by the budget and with the exchange rate we were able to give non curlers money toward their food. Everyone paid for their own meals and drinks. Amazingly enough this was another event that came out on budget.

    In attendance: Jay&Liz Trachsel, Brian&Jane Trachsel, Mike&Kristin Trachsel, Steve&Amber Trachsel, Bill&Michelle Trachsel, Nick& Vicki, Mattt& Christine Hoffman, George&Peggy Hoffman

    Budget $175.00 US = $211.00 Canadian

There was plenty to eat with host John supplying a 24” pizza from Toarmina’s. The winners were Sherry with 12 points, $7.00; Judy with 9 points and $5.00, John, Ken and Kate with 7 points and $3.00, Jack and Jan Cashman with 5 points and $2.00, Cal and Bob 4 points $2.00 and looking up from the bottom is Jacqui with 3 points and $1.00. Tri V 2017 Golf season

The 2017 golf season had a wild 2nd half finish with Brian Trachsel winning the 2nd half. Dave Burke and Mike Lewandowski beating out Dale Horst and Jerry Whitefoot for the most total points for the season to earn their way into the wild card spots and the playoffs. The season wrapped up on August 14th with a playoff between 1st half winner Nate O’Hare 2nd half winner Brian Trachsel and the 2 wild cards Dave Burke and Mike Lewandowski. Dave shot a very strong 39 to easily take the season championship and he coupled that score with Jerry Whitefoot’s lowest score for the year to easily win the final week 2 man low handicap jackpot. Congratulations to the 4 guys in the playoffs and to Dave for a great finish to the season. See everyone next year for the 2018 season beginning April 16th Your committee Jay Trachsel, Dave Burke

80th Anniversary Weekend Our anniversary weekend was held…

    80th Anniversary Weekend

Our anniversary weekend was held at the Hankerd Inn bed and breakfast located in Pleasant Lake, Michigan, just north of Jackson. As guests arrived on the afternoon of Friday, June 23 they were greeted with a bag of goodies prepared by the committee.

After dinner we were challenged with a game of “1937 The Price is Right”. We all longed for the low prices of that era, but certainly not the low wages, assuming if you even had a job. Then John Lardin and his band of gay thespians entertained us with an amusing skit. We have it recorded and are holding it to blackmail the troupe at a later date. This is an innovative fundraiser for the club.

During the day Saturday, the club had its choice of golf, a Jackson Prison tour, or a visit to the Sand Hill Crane Vineyards. Sport, culture, and wine made for quite a varied day.

After dinner on Saturday, we were inspired by the speeches of the outgoing and incoming officers. The best part of which was that the outgoing and incoming were the same persons. As was promised, the theme of the weekend was “Escape to 1937”. So, Friday evening we focused on 1937, and Saturday we went for the “Escape”. Yes, we broke up into five groups and played Escape. This is a game where you had to solve clues to escape your jail cell. Unfortunately, one team is still awaiting their parole.

After breakfast on Sunday, Bob & Sherry led the club in a prayer service. This was ably assisted by the Tri-V Tabernacle Choir. As we began to leave, some of the younger members were discussing what we should do for our 100th Anniversary. This gladdened the hearts of some of us older members who set their sights on being there for that momentous occasion.

Your Committee: Jack Schaefer, Brian Trachsel, and Bob Kuhr.

P.S. We could not have done it without Jane, Jacqui, and Sherry.
