    Paper article

Wow, it must be something in the water as I often forget to do this. However, since I was out here. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! May the weather cooperate and give the kids and us a nice night to go out and trick or treat and socialize with neighbors, friends and family. We have been busy with school starting and being in full swing now. Octoberfest, a PTO driven event for the kids school was held and was a great success. Got a chance to experience a new restaurant for me (Matt) called Slurping Turtle. It is in Ann Arbor and it was great. Never thought I would eat at a place called Slurping Turtle, but… it is amazing how many times I say, if you would have told me at 10 that I would do ….. I love the process of growing up and having so many new experiences. I wish this for all of you as well.

October Social – Detroit Velodrome (Bike Racing and Bar)

    October 2018

Being part of a social club that gets together as much as we do and have so many found memories and experiences, the task of finding something new and different for us to experience is great. However, our wonderful city of Detroit has landed us just the opportunity. As our city continues to come back and bring in new and exciting events, the Lexus Velodrome is one of them. There are videos and postings on line at Facebook (link below)

    https://www.facebook.com/LexusVelodrome/

Competitive bike racing in Detroit Michigan? Absolutely! What goes with watching people race on a track with 15 to 50 degree embankments? PIZZA – Cottage Inn Pizza to be exact. The SPOKEEASY bar, (located on the infield of the track) has suites where we will sit in comfortable couches and chairs watching the races either as they go around the track (up to 50 miles an hour) or on a big screen TV located in our suite where Cottage Inn Pizza will be delivered right to us. (Not included in price) order off menu. There is also a great selection of adult beverages at the bar just a few steps from the suite. The races take place from 7:30 to 9:30 on October 13. The bar stays open till about 11:00 for those that would like to just hang out. There is free parking at Carson High school right behind the Velodrome at Mack Rd off I-75. Depending on count, cost will range from $5 to $15 dollars per person + own food and beverages. Hope to see you there.

    Description from the Velodrome

Bike riding just became a year-round thing INSIDE the Lexus Velodrome, the newest addition to Detroit’s sport scene.  Upon approach to the highly visible dome at Mack & I-75, you will first hear a rumble that becomes a roar the moment you step inside.  More than a dozen bike racers, on bikes with no brakes, fearlessly face the challenge of 50 degree banking and wildly fast speeds as they negotiate the 1/10th mile cycling oval in hotly contested weekend races.  Spectators enjoy an up close experience around the track’s elevated skywalk or seated comfortably in infield suites. Put us on your bucket list – to watch, to ride, to come inside the Lexus Velodrome.

June Event – Final Marbles reschedule – June 2nd

On June 2nd from 7:30 till 9:00 we will be entertained at ComedySportz Detroit.
This is the event for Final Marbles that we discussed at the last meeting.

ComedySportz Detroit is a improvisational theatre in Ferndale, MI. Two teams will stand off against each other performing on the spot based off suggestions from the audience. Then at the end the audience will select the winner.

I have confirmed for 20 adults at this time.
The thought would be to meet in Ferndale for dinner on our own and then meet up at the theatre for the show.

The address is 1100 Woodward Heights, Ferndale, MI 48220.
    248-721-8024 is the phone number.

Please RSVP to Matt Hoffman so we could get a final count.
Looks like it will be a fun, easy and relaxing evening.

Cost for the show is $15/person.
Dinner (if you care to join – location TBD) will be on your own.

    Regards,
    Matt Hoffman

    Draft or Superbowl

As one of the few Lion’s fanatics in the club, today is a big day!?!?

The NFL draft begins tonight. Does this increase or decrease my fandom? Will I out of nowhere go and buy the new logo wear for my team? Will Intentionally do something that will prevent me from being engaged? Too many questions for one post.

However, with the 21st pick in the draft the Lions select …..

    We will see.

    Family event

On the Saturday before Easter, 24 of us gathered at Drakshire Bowl to enjoy 2 hours of bowling and pizza and pop.

Everyone expressed they had a good time. From the kids that were on one lane to adults on another. Children, parents and grandparents were present and having fun.

The event came out to $6.00 for bowlers and $3.00 for others. Thank you to all who made it out and to my committee who helped make this happen.

    Egg hunt – interesting idea

Just attended the Easter egg hunt at Ward church and I may incorporate thier approach. 6 eggs. One in each color of the rainbow. Special gifts inside and tied to the Easter story.

I am probably just jealous that they did not stuff hundreds of eggs per child and used toys over candy, but I thought it was a good idea. This may become a new tradition for us.

    God bless,

    Matt Hoffman
