The month of January, 2020, proved to be a harfd month for all of TRI-V but we were able to show our true meaning of what TRI-V stands for with all showing our true color for all we were faced. I know for Judy and I it was the worst month that we had to sdurvive in many years. We arrived in Ft. Myers on Sun., Jan. 5th, and were oin our way back to Mich. three days later. Because of changesd in schedule John had to return to For chemo treatment and ended making three trips between Jan.5th and Jan 21st.
WSomehow the memories for Feb., 2020, got lost in space and will have to be found and will appear in the March 2002 edition with the March Memories.

MEMORIES FROM THE JANUARY 2015 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
January 2015 had everyone in good health. The only family travelling were Judy and John Lardin who spent the second weekend of December in Corpus Christi, TX celebrating grandson, Jacob, 8th birthday. Upon their return they packed their bags and left on Jan. 4 for three months in Fort Myers. Reported events were The Children’s Christmas party on Dec. 14 at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena, Livonia with 43 adults and 26 children in attendance. The necessary paperwork for the TRI-V election to be held in March was published for eligible members. The ladies getaway was scheduled for August 5 at Hankerd Inn, Pleasant Lake, MI. The TRI-V Council party was set for Jan. 24 in downtown MEMORIES FROM THE JANUARY 2010 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
There were a few members that were in need of our prayers. First is Geri Reutenik, who had surgery on Dec. 21 to remove cancer from her lung and will then undergo chemo and radiation. Marge Stock who is still in the nursing home in Franklin, TN who continues with memory loss and lastly John Lardin who had an upper respiratory infection that was caught before it turned into pneumonia. Those travelling included the Clingerman’s going to Witkenburg, AZ for a family reunion on Donna’s side of the family. Cal and Jan Cashman went to Plano, TX over Thanksgiving to visit with Jan’s daughter, Julie. Jack and Jacqui Schaefer travelled to Bloomington, IN to help out son Mark for a week and Judy and John Lardin left for Ft. Myers, FL on January 11, this year staying for three months.
Activities included the TRI-V Wives Christmas party attended by 15 ladies on Dec. 16 celebrated at Plymouth Crossing in Plymouth; the children’s Christmas party held on Dec. 6 at the Maple Lanes Golf Club in Sterling Heights, attended by 25 adults and 10 children. The fall social event was held Dec. 13 attending the play “Miracle on 34th Street” put on by the Farmington players and attended by 13 persons. The February social will be Feb. 12 going to Mallie’s Sports Grill and Bar followed by a basketball game at Taylor Kennedy High School, coached by John Mackson. TRI-V pinochle standings through January had Nick Angelosanto in first with 97.5 points; Vickie Angelosanto in second with 89.5 points and Romas Bliudzius in third with 87.5 points.
Rochester, MI for the 8th annual fire and ice festival. Pinochle standings through January play had Onallee Trachsel in first place with 97 points; Jacqui Schaefer in second place with 86.5 points; and Ken Stress in third with 86 points.
This wraps up another trip down memory lane. As you can see, there wasn’t much to write about in January 2010/2015. Continue to remember all those in the TRI-V family as well as our friends and family that are in need of our prayers. Prayers do work. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    Tags: TO OUR VETERANS

I FEEL OUR MILITARY AND VETERANS CAN BE…

I FEEL OUR MILITARY AND VETERANS CAN BE HONORED ANY TIME OF THE YEAR.

A CHRISTMAS POEM FOR ALL OUR CURRENT MILITARY PERSONNEL AND VETERANS
    TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
    HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
    PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
    WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
    AND TO SEE JUST WHO
    IN THIS HOUSE DID LIVE.

    I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A SRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
    NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
    NOT EVEN A TREE.

    NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
    JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
    ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
    OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

    WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
    AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
    A SOBER THOUGHT
    CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

    FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
    IT WAS DARK AND DREARY.
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
    ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

    THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
    SILENT, ALONE,
    CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
    IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

    THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
    THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
    NOT HOW I PICTURED
    A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

    WAS THIS THE HERO
    OF WHOM I’D JUST READ?
    CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
    THE FLOOR FOR A BED?
    I REALIZED THE FAMLIES
    THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
    WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

    SOON AROUND THE WORLD,
    THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
    AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
    A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

    THRY ALL ENJOYED FREEDON
    EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
    BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
    LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

    I COULDN’T WONDER
    HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
    ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

    THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
    I DROPPED MTO ME KNEES
    AND STARTED TO CRY.
    THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
    “SANTA DON’T CRY
    THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE.

    I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
    I DON’T ASK FOR MORE,
    MY LIFE IS MY GOD
    MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS.”

    THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
    AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
    I COULDN’T CONTROL IT’
    I CONTINUED TOM WEEP.

    I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
    SO SILENT AND STILL,
    AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
    FROM THE COLD NIGHT’S CHILL.

    I DIDN’T WANT TO LEAVE
    ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
    THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
    SO WILLING TO FIGHT.
    THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
    WHISPERED “CARRY ON SANTA
IT’S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE.”

    ONE LOOL AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT,
    “MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.”

THIS POEM WAS WRITTEN BE A MARINE
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY.
