LARDIN TRIFLES John and Judy were finally able…

    LARDIN TRIFLES
John and Judy were finally able to go to Texas to visit Larry and family. Our neighbor dropped us off at the airport at 7:30 a.m. for our 9:30 a.m. flight only to find out flight had been delayed due to mechanical problems. The plane was coming from Traverse City, finally left for San Antonio at 11:50 a.m. Larry drove approximately 3 hours to pick us up from Corpus Christi. We finally got to Corpus Christi around 5:30 p.m. It was great to see all of them since last time we saw them was Thanksgiving 2019. We usually go to Texas once we return from Florida but with the Coronavirus we were unable to do so safely until now. We got to see our granddaughter play two basketball games and win a tournament. We enjoyed playing games, visiting, and of course eating. Larry drove us back to San Antonio for our return home on a 3:30 p.m. flight only to find out it had been cancelled. We were able to take a plane to Atlanta and then switch planes to Detroit—finally arrived home around midnight—long day since Larry dropped us off at 1:00 p.m.
Our grandchildren in Texas are doing virtual school. For Christine, who is a sophomore, it works out because she is very focused. She does virtual school but does go to basketball practice and games at the school. Jacob who is in eighth grade is not doing well with virtual school—he eventually gets his work done but it is a struggle with him to get homework done in a timely manner—he may be heading to school soon—they had a choice and felt safer with virtual.
John saw the oncologist the next day and the doctor’s time management is nil. Appointment time was 1:30 p.m. and did not see doctor until approximately 5:30 p.m. Nothing new to report, John will have CAT scan first part of November to make sure things have not changed.

MEMORIES FROM THE NOVEMBER 2015 ISSUE OF TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE NOVEMBER 2015 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
It is hard to believe that another issue of the Umph with no new serious ailments to report in the TRI-V family. The TRI-V Wives Christmas luncheon will be held on December 12. Location TBD. There was one home for pinochle in October which was hosted by Victoria and Dominic Angelosanto. Ken Stress was in first place with 27.5 points; second was Romas Bliudzius with 25 and third was Mike Trachsel with 24.5 points. Marble standings after Oct. and Nov. had Dave Burke in first place with 23 points; John Lardin in second place with 19 points and four persons in third place with 18 points. The November social is set for a trip to the Motown Museum on Nov. 14 with dinner afterwards at the Hop Cat restaurant. The Children’s Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Livonia YMCA, swimming included. The Council party is scheduled for January 9, 2016 at the Dearborn Ford Rouge Factory followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant. John and Judy Lardin once again made the trip to Corpus Christi for granddaughter’s birthday with another trip planned to Corpus Christi in December for grandson’s birthday. John had a three month checkup with the heart doctor and his defibrillator—all good news. This wraps up another trip down Memory Lane. We just celebrated Halloween. This was a great time to take the time to share past Halloween experiences. We can share what costumes were like, “tricks” we may have participated in and the total Halloween experience sharing them with our children and grandchildren. The important thing is to share our memories. We are only a few weeks away from Thanksgiving and the beginning of the Christmas Season. Speaking of Christmas Season, take the time now to get your Christmas Greeting into the December issue of the Tri-V Umph. Give our editor time to compose the issue. Please do not wait until the last minute. Until we see you next month in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

MEMORIES FROM THE NOVEMBER 2010 ISSUE OF TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE NOVEMBER 2010 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
It is hard to believe that another issue of the Umph with no new serious ailments to report in the TRI-V family. The closest reported incident was Ann Marie Angelosanto who was stung by a bee. Unfortunately she is allergic to bee stings but a prescription from the doctor saved a trip to the emergency room and she did recover. The Clingermans are in their new home in South Carolina with most of the boxes unpacked and are now ready to enjoy the area making a trip to TN for the National Storytelling Festival. The Lardin’s continue their frequent trips to TX this time spending the 14 thru the 18 of October in Corpus Christi to celebrate granddaughter’s sixth birthday. Upon their return Judy was to go to her mom’s in IL to help Mom out, going back there to celebrate Thanksgiving. Then back to TX the middle of December to celebrate grandson’s fourth birthday. Sue and Terry Dunham continue into the full retirement mode with Ter playing golf with the old timers on Wednesday and will play up to the week before Thanksgiving. Both are busy with the American Red Cross and Journey Church business. They have started a library at church and also sell books approved by the Pastor. Jeff Trachsel announced the engagement of his daughter, Andrea to Steve Novak and looking at a September 2011 wedding. The Fall Stag event was set for Nov. 13 at Snookers Pool-N-Pub, Livonia with a pool and dart tournament. TRI-V Wives Christmas dinner was set for Dec. 15 at Sophia’s Restaurant, Farmington Hills. They specialize in Greek and Italian foods and there is something for everyone. The Children’s Christmas part was set for Dec. 12 at F. B. Wright Co. located in Dearborn, MI. Pinochle3 standings after two months of play had Jane Trachsel in first place with 57 points, Robyn Mackson in second place with 53.5 points and George Hoffman in third place with 52 points.

September proved to be a busy month for…

September proved to be a busy month for the Lardins. What started out to be an easy month medically changed quickly. It all started when it was necessary for John’s chemo being delayed a week because of his platelets count being too low. This was followed with a carted artery check with all good news. Then to the eye doctor to try to solve the problem with his eyes continuing to water. After several checks it was determined that the chemo had caused his tear ducts to be blocked and there was no guarantee that surgery would solve the problem. The Dr. did put a solution in each eye and John could feel the ducts open and the medicine get to his sinuses and drained. After two weeks it has helped though there is still some blockage. Judy and John did play a round of golf with Jan and Cal followed by dinner than a few games of marbles. A quiet enjoyable time by all. John continues to play golf on Friday at various courses with a group of 24 from various cities. Current plans call for Judy and John to go to Corpus Christi TX to celebrate granddaughter Christine 16th birthday. Judy and John have not missed a birthday in TX from day one and John was not going to let the virus stop him this year. John continues with the chemo every other week getting it on a Tuesday and getting a pump removed on Thursday. Has been over four years not. Hope all are well and stay safe and continue to pray for all your family, the TRI-V Family as well as all others in need of our prayers. THEY DO WORK!

MEMORIES FROM THE October 2010 issue of TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE October 2010 issue of TRI-V Umph
Our prayers go out to Jan and Cal Cashman on the loss of Jan’s mother Adelene Rex on September 7. Reports of travels this month included Judy and John Lardin to Corpus Christi TX the middle of October to celebrate granddaughter Christine sixth birthday and upon their return Judy will make a trip to Illinois to spend some quality time with her mom. Millie continues to have her good and bad days and Judy asks you to continue to remember her in your prayers. The middle of September Onallee and Bill Trachsel met Diane and Ken Plocharczyk in Sarasota FL to celebrate Art Trachsel’s 90th birthday. October pinochle was hosted by the Lardin’s and Karen Thrift and Jeff Trachsel. First place winner at the Lardins was Dion Angelosanto with 32.5 points and at Jeff Trachsel first place with 33.5 points. Standings for the first month of play had Jeff Trachsel in First place with 33.5 points, Dion Angelosanto in second place with 32.5 points and Brian Trachsel in third place with 30 points. September 19 found nine TRI-V coupes and friends boarding a bus for a seven day trip to Branson MO. The trip included overnight stays in St. Louis MO along with nine shows, three shopping trips (though we cancelled one of them) and a stop at Harrah’s Casino in St. Louis MO on the way home. TRI-V golf league had Mike Trachsel winning the first half and Matt VanHollebeke winning the second half and Mike winning the league championship in the end of year playoff. Each and every day of our lives we have a new memory. Some of those are happy ones while others are sad ones but they are all important. Thinking back it was in 2005 that Robyn and John Mackson were involved in an auto accident that totaled their car but fortunately did not cause any injuries. The trip to Branson MO was the first for some, second for others and for Judy and John Lardin their third trip in six years. Each trip was different but enjoyable.

MEMORIES FROM THE October 2015 issue of TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE October 2015 issue of TRI-V Umph
There were no reported persons needing our prayers for October. A group of 10 TRI-V women went to Hankerd Inn, Pleasant Lake, MI and enjoyed each other’s company for three days and two nights. They were so impressed with Hankerd Inn they made reservations for the following August.
Marbles began the first Saturday evening in October; all seemed to enjoy. Pinochle also began the third Saturday evening of October with only one house of players. The Tri-V social is planned for November with a visit to Motown Museum with dinner to follow. The Children’s Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Livonia YMCA including swimming.
John and Judy Lardin are planning to make a trip to Corpus Christi TX to celebrate granddaughter Christine’s 11th birthday with a trip in December to celebrate grandson Jacob’s birthday. They will again travel to FL for three months the first part of January. They also hope to make a trip to Illinois to visit Judy’s family and a trip to Akron OH to visit John’s family. John is doing well with his defibrillator/ pacemaker.
Jan Cashman also reported she is doing well with her defibrillator/pacemaker at this time and does not see the cardiologist for six months.
This wraps up another trip down memory lane. The kids and grandchildren are getting antsy with this COVID. Some are already in school and others have opted to do virtual and everyone needs to have patience. Our patience with some of them is being stretched. Soon we will be celebrating Thanksgiving and new memories will be developed. Take time now to think back about those thanksgiving dinners and the Hudson Parade and share with your children/grandchildren. Until we meet you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

August was a busy month for John Lardin…

August was a busy month for John Lardin. It started with fulfilling an item on his bucket list. He loves Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss 80 piece orchestra. He told Judy he would fly to Europe if he had to see him perform. Fortunately they will be in Florida March 5, 2021 and John bought floor seats to see him. John celebrated his birthday for a week having dinner with friends and family on different occasions. John also had many doctor appointments including chemo at Botsford/Beaumont. He saw the cardiologist and he had an echocardiogram; EKG, and also had him walk around office and check his oxygen level. Also had 7 vials of blood taken to check absolutely everything. Fortunately all results were positive. He has a Doppler scheduled for the carotid arteries next month. His faithful “bride” Judy continues to take care of him. He doesn’t know what he would do without her. John also golfed on Monday with Tri-V and on Friday he plays 18 with the seniors. Judy’s excitement including a sleepover for 3 days with Alyssa; Judy did take Alyssa to the dollar tree for an outing but will not go to mall with her. Alyssa spent most of the 3 days in the neighbor’s pools—she has made many friends and they all have pools. John and Judy hope to visit Larry and family in October to celebrate their granddaughter’s 16th birthday. John is still planning to go to Florida for three months the first of the year. He says at least it will be warm and I won’t have to worry about falling. Judy’s on the fence about the trip to Texas and Florida because of the Coronavirus. Time will tell.

With September being the month we celebrate Grandparents…

With September being the month we celebrate Grandparents Day we went this to all of our Grandmas in Tri-V.

Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. The child asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”
God replied, “Among the angels, I’ll choose one for you. Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”
The child further inquired, but tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to e happy.”
God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel the angel’s love and be very happy.”
Again the child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?”
God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words that you will ever hear, and with much patience and care your angel will teach you how to speak.”
I’ve heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?”
God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”
At the moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now please tell me my angel’s name.”
God replied, “Her name is not important. You will simply call her “GRANDMA.”

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2015 ISSUE OF TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2015 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
The oldest member of Tri-V, Art Trachsel, will be turning 95 on Sept. 16. He is really excited about it and I know he will appreciate hearing from you. The men’s golf league completed the season, Mike Trachsel took home the A flight championship; Nick Angelosanto won the B flight. Final golf had 32 golfers in Gaylord at Ray’s retreat. Marbles will be played the first Saturday of the month beginning in October. Pinochle will be moved to the third Saturday of the month. The Children’s Christmas party is scheduled for Sunday, December 6. Jeff Trachsel and Karen Thrift would like to announce the birth of their granddaughter Harper Danielle, daughter of Steve and Andrea Novak. After two months Judy Lardin finally got her new Ford Flex. The same color (red) as John’s but she says it has more gadgets. Judy and John went to see oldest son Johnnie new home near Alpena. The home is 3 bedrooms, 2 baths in the middle of nowhere. At least that is what Judy and John think. This wraps up another trip down Memory Lane. School will have started by the time most have read this. Thank back when you or your children started the school each year, especially those starting kindergarten for their first school experience. The excitement most had shown and the look on their face as well as the look on Mom’s face knowing that she was finally going to have a little alone time. Most of all make it a point to be involved with the activities your children get into. Allow our schedule for BOTH Mom and Dad to attend the game or the concert. It means more to your kids than you might realize. I remember two years ago I was at one of the boy’s concert in Canton and they always honor those that have been in the service. There were not that many veterans in attendance and when they sang the Air Force fight song and I stood up I could see my grandson telling the guys sitting next to him with a big proud smile on his face “that’s my Grandpa”. Until we meet you in print next month, the Good Lord Willing, take care of one another.

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2010 ISSUE OF TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2010 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
The September issue of the TRI-V Umph was a very small issue with no reports of any of the TRI-V family in need of our prayers. This does not happen often but is a blessing when it does. The only trifle was reported by the Lardins on their trip to Corpus Christi TX to visit son Larry and family over the Labor Day Weekend. This was brought about when three year old grandson, Jacob, came out of his bedroom with his suitcase packed and told his mom he was going to the airport to visit Grandma and Grandpa. A group of the TRI-V family made plans for a weeklong trip to Branson MS leaving on Sun. Sept. 19. There was a report on the Steak Roast held on Aug. 14 at Gunnar Mettala Park Wixom and the Girls Weekend on Aug. 20 at the Mannsiding Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Harrison MI
