    July President’s Message

Summer is in full swing and I am in full vacation mode. The Jay Trachsel family had a great time camping at the Pinery in Ontario last week. The kids had a blast playing together and the adults enjoyed some downtime by the campfire fending off an overly comfortable raccoon one evening.

The anniversary party was held on June 17th at Joy Manor in Livonia. By all accounts it was a nice evening. The Tri-V picnic will be held on July 17th at Rotary Park in Livonia. I will be looking to repeat as egg toss champion, so you may want to practice.

Until then, enjoy the sunshine and the great outdoors.

    Update on Blondie

Blondie Forsyth has had some medical issues lately.  She took a tumble while in the hospital and is in rehab.  She is moving to a new home, Monday, July 11, where she can get more care.  She would love some cheerful, happy notes/cards.  Her new address is:   Edith Forsyth, 981 Jolly Rd, Okemos, MI 48864.  I would suggest adding Tri-V to your signature, as she doesn’t remember everyone’s names anymore.

A Letter From The Editor (me)…

Hello everyone! I’m sorry this month’s paper comes to you a week late, I’m still catching up from vacation. Anyway, it looks like everyone was successful using the new posting method for the most part. I’m still working out how to incorporate attachments and the best method to create user accounts. Each of those items will be a little more complex, so I’m looking to make help videos/documents so it’s easy for everyone. Please bear with me going forward and let me know if you have any comments or concerns.

Thanks and I hope to see you 7/17 at the family picnic!

Trifle From Tim & Karlyn Gies

We are enjoying our first summer down in Florida. Just golfed 18 and now it is pool time. Weather doesn’t seem any worse than many other parts of the country.

We have our oldest grandchildren Austin & Kayla flying down to Florida on July 13th to spend three days with us before we drive up to Gatlinburg TN for the Gies family vacation. Tracey, Nick and family will also be joining us. We should be in Michigan on July 23rd – July 30th. We then travel to Higgins Lake area for several days to visit with friends and Diane and Ken. We will be in Farmington Hills from July 5th to about the 15th when we plan to return to Florida. Tim says that is long enough as we were away for three weeks in May. He is tired of traveling, Hope to see many of our Tri-V friends while there.

Tracey and Nick Katcherian are moving back to Michigan. They just put a deposit on a lot in Tanglewood in South Lyon and will be building a new home. Nick starts working back in Michigan soon and the family will follow when the Kentucky schools go back. They will be living with Nicks parents until the home is ready hopefully in December.

    See you all soon.
    Love,
    Tim and Karlyn

    Golf League Updated

Welcome to summer! Today is the saddest day of the year for me, the longest day and it’s all down hill from here. Anyway, summer was in full force as the weather was at least 90 degrees and muggy. Apparently I took a few holes to adjust because I started terrible and finished strong… but only received 1 point for my efforts. Dale and Mike are running away with the 2nd half after only two weeks. They’re both within two points of each other and third is 4.5 back. However with the current scoring system anything can happen.

Please remember we will not be golfing on the 4th of July. Also several golfers dropped a score this week including: George, Shawn, Brian, Jay, and Gerry. Nick and John will drop a score with their next round.

    Golf League Updated

Today is the first day of the second half. Congratulations to Mike Trachsel for his first place finish this week. He’s been sandbagging all year and it finally paid off. Nice job getting first place with a crappy 40. Mike edged out Dale by 0.2 stokes for first place this week.

The good news is I’ve golfed 8 weeks this year, Nate has golfed 3 weeks and I have a dominating lead over Nate by 2.5 points. Nice try Nate!

This week a lot of golfers including Dale, Lew, Mike, Steve, and I all dropped a score. Nick, George, Shawn, John, Brian, Jay, and Gerry will all drop a score with their next round.

    Golf League Updated

Another week of Tri-V golf and another week of narrowly avoiding terrible weather. Luckily the course is up to the latest safety standards and everyone was able to take appropriate cover in the shelter after hearing the warning siren.

This week was the last week of the 1st half, as we lose a week of golfing this year due to Independence day being on a Monday. The 2nd half will have 8 weeks unless we have any rainouts.

Congratulations to Gerry Whitefoot, who has won the 1st half. Gerry almost went wire to wire and dominated the final week by earning zero points to secure the win. Nice job Gerry!

No “in the money” golfers dropped a score this week, but Dale, Lew, Mike, Steve, and I will drop a score with our next round.

Good luck everyone in the 2nd half!

    June President’s message

Today we turn the calendar to June. This simple act puts a smile on the face of every child and teacher across the state. We have made it through another year. Hopefully all of my fellow Tri-V teachers, teacher aides, para pros, and other school employees have had a good year. I know you are ready to have some time with your own kids for a change. Enjoy your summer break, you all deserve it.

The men’s open house was held in May at Beacon Hill Golf Course. Nick, as always, did a great job of organizing the event. I’d like to say that it was a beautiful day on the course, but unless you enjoy cold drizzle and sleet while golfing, you were probably wishing to be somewhere else. Once we all dried off, we enjoyed a very nice dinner and even played some cards.

The Anniversary party is coming up on June 17th. I didn’t see it on the club calendar of events, so I thought I’d throw in a little reminder. You should get your suit dry cleaned and start looking for your pin (P.S. it’s still on your suit coat).
