    Tri V calling list

I have redone the calling list with what I believe to be correct phone numbers. A few of you have different people due to the passing of members recently. I tried to balance the list with regard to older wives that may not know the newer council members.

    Golf League Updated

Congratulations to Jay Trachsel, the 2016 Tri-V Golf champion! Jay dominated the final round by shooting a 36 with 8 pars and 1 bogey. Nice round Jay!

This concludes the 2016 season, thanks everyone for your participation. Please let Jay or I know if you have any suggestions to improve the league next year.

    Golf League Updated

This week (8/8) concluded the 2nd half. Dale was the runaway winner, with 2nd place 9 points behind him. Dale joins Gerry as the other half winner, and both will compete with the (2) wild card winners in the final this week (8/15).

The real story was in the wild card race. Mike already had the first spot locked up, but the second spot was a battle between Jay, Steve, and George. None of them had a stong showing, with Jay shooting his worst round of the season, Steve finishing 8th and George 7th. A stroke here or there for either Steve or George could have won it for them, but Jay survived his bad round to take the final wild card spot.

Therefore next week’s championship round will feature Gerry, Dale, Mike, and Jay.

    Good luck guys!

    AUGUST TRIFLES

    TRIFLES

The month of July has been a pretty good month for John Lardin. He has had his second round of chemo and other than suffering one day each time of being overly tired all has been good. He will have his third round on Aug. 7th. He continues to have therapy on his hip replacement. He feels the recovery is not going as well as he thought it should but the Doctors keep telling him he has been through more issues than most have. He did make two trips to Caesars Windsor to just get out and did help out the Canadian economy. I want to thank all for their calls, cards and especially the prayers. Cannot put into words how important they are. See everyone at the steak roast.

    AUGUST MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE AUGUST 2006 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

It is not often but if feels good to be able to start the Memories each month with no known TRI-V Members being in need of our prayers. We are asked to remember in our prayers Nick Angelosanto’s brother-in-law, Rick. The end of June a drunk driver ran a red light and broadsided Rick’s car. He did not appear to have any major internal nor had injuries but his memory is not the greatest now. He has been told that he will probably not regain all his strength and movement in his left hand. Fortunately he is right handed.

We finally were able to report on the marriage of Matt and Christine Hoffman on May 12th in Cozumel Mexico. Congratulations to Tim and Karlyn Gies on the birth of granddaughter, Natalya, to daughter Tracey and son-in-law Nick Katcherian on July 15th. Diane and Ken Plocharczyk sold their home on Pine Lake in Linden MI and will be moving Labor Day weekend. With Jacqui Schaefer’s recent retirement they have been on the run making trips to Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Las Vegas and to Northern MI. Jack is afraid he might have to go back to work to have some easy time.

The remaining Trifles are about the Dunham’s and Lardins. Sorry for the “boring” reading but each month we ask you to send articles to the Editor to include in the trifles and wen so few do this you get. First the Dunham Family. It all starts with Susie Dunham flying in mid-May to New York to spend Mother’s Day with her Mom. Six days later Sue returned home, repacked and Terry and Sue left for Houston driving non-stop in their Ford Focus SVT tor their niece’s high school graduation (900 in the graduating class). 48 hours later they were back on the road returning to TN to repack and three days later leaving for 12 days in Hawaii. Upon their return from Hawaii Sue left for Lebanon TN for a writer’s conference. When she returned she had house guest for 10 days and after they left Sue and Terry hit the road in their motor home headed for New York. Son Chris flew in from OG and daughter Gretchen drove in from MI. They spent a total of three weeks on the road with the last trip and are now planning on staying in TN till the end of August when Terry will drive up to IN to join fellow TRI-Vers for Final Golf. At the end of all this Susie had her first book signing on Aug. 19th.

The Lardin article was more about Judy and not as exciting as the Dunham’s is. Judy’s involved spending two weeks in San Antonio TX helping Kim and Larry. Kim was due in Dec. and had to have surgery in July because of her loss of fluid. Kim had to be off her feet for three weeks and went down to help out the family. They had a trip planned to MI for the end of July and Kim, Larry and almost two year old Christine returned with Judy to MI. A three hour flight resulted in a 15 hour flight because of mechanical problems in San Antonio. At the end of the rip Judy did say the Christine was in a better mod than the three adults. The 15 days Judy was in San Antonio she did a lot of running and Christine has learned all she had to say is “grandma” and Judy would come a running. All Judy could say when all was over was she was “pooped.” While Larry and family were here from TX Judy and John decided to have a mini type reunion. Son Brian came up with a “Christmas in July Celebration.” They rented the shelter in Wixom that TRI-V uses for the picnic and stead roast and John and the families of his two sisters met to celebrate Christmas. 26 adults and 11 children were there for the celebration with only one family in Md unable to attend.

There was an article on the TRI-V Picnic held on June 25th at Mettala Park, Wixom, with 30 members in attendance with 42 adults more adult guest and 17 children. One of our largest turnouts (the children ranged in age from three months to 15 years). The Men’s Stag event was scheduled for the end of Sept. The evening would begin with dinner, location to be determined, and the Tiger-Kansas City Royal baseball game at Comeria Park.

MEMORIES FROM THE AUGUST 2011 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

The August 2011 issue of the Umph was a total of four pages. Not much shared. Congratulations went out to Kim and Dave Burke on the birth of their son, Matthew, on Aug. 11th weighing in at 9 lbs. 5 oz. Also to Jeff Trachsel on the birth of his first grandson, Able, to son Ryan and Arika Trachsel. Abel was born on Aug. 10th weighing in at 7 lbs. 4 oz. This gave Onallee and Bill Trachsel two more Great Grandsons.

While the 2006 issue had the escapades of the Dunham and Lardins, the 2011 issue had the adventures of Jack Schaefer. It started the weekend of July 4th with the Schaefers traveling to Bloomington IN to help build a patio for their son Mark. After digging down six inches they hit water and digging down another 18 inches they hit ground water. This resulted in many trenches and down spouts being redirected. They returned to MI with the job being half done. The following they traveled to Long Island NY for a family wedding and on the return to MI experienced a detour which landed them in downtown New York. The unplanned tour of the city cost them two hours but it was an adventure. The weekend of the 15th Jack flew back to IN to finish the patio which at this time is still not done. Upon his return he helped daughter move and then a trip to Nashville TN to visit the Dunhams in hot, humid weather.

The TRI-V Picnic was held on July 17th at Mettala Park, Windsor, with 35 adults and 14 children in attendance. Final Golf is set for the weekend of Aug. 19th – 21st at Ray’s Retreat, Gaylord and the TRI-V Steak Roast is set for Aug. 28th at Mettala Park, Wixom.

This ends another trip down Memory Lane. Unfortunately not much to report in 2011 with an abundance in 2006. How the memories seem to vanish until something happens to reignite them. This year the weather man said we had 20 days in 2012 when the temp hit 90 degrees. Only four years ago but I do not remember that and it appears we might hit that record again. What have you been doing this “hot” summer that will become a memory? I guess the one thing we will not forget is the cost of our electric bill with the air conditioning running every day. This time of year we have several members who are recovering from various problems. Please, please remember them in your prayers and do not hesitate to give them a quick phone call. It is hard to put into words that that phone call can do. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    Golf League Updated

Next week (8/8) is the last week of the 2nd half. The 2nd half is down to Mike and Dale, with Dale leading. Everyone else has been eliminated. Mike has an outside shot to pass Dale at 5 points down.

The wildcard is more competitative with Dale, Mike, Jay, Steve, and George (in that order) all legitimate contenders for the 2 spots.

Next week most golfers will not be golfing at the regular time due to vacation, so don’t be surprised if there’s only one foursome.
