    President’s Message

    President’s Message

April has arrived in the D. The Wings and Pistons are battling for playoff spots, the Tigers are preparing for a new season, and the Lions are thinking of new, creative ways to blow it on draft day (we need a tight end). It is an exciting time of year for sports fans for sure. The elder Tri-V bowling team will be trying to repeat as league champions this Tuesday as they roll off against some other guys. If you want to come down to the bowling alley to cheer on your Tri-V mates, Jay will buy you a beer. The younger Tri-V team will finish the year with the fewest points of any team that has actual bowlers on it. Not a good season for us. Fortunately golf season is right around the corner.

Last weekend we had our Family Event at the Michigan Outdoor Adventure Center. I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t attend, but it sounded like the kids had a good time exploring the outdoors while being completely indoors the whole time. Final Pinochle/Marbles will be held at the Cadieux Cafe, an old Tri-V favorite, on April 17th. No Pinochle or marbles participation is required to attend.

Thanks again to Dave for taking over the newsletter responsibilities. The website looks great! Our next meeting is April 12th at Drakeshire Lanes.

    March Family Event

On Saturday March 26th we had the family event at Outdoor Adventures in Detroit, which is put on by the DNR. We had 25 people attend,13 children and 12 Adults. This is a great place for kids to run around and learn about Michigan outdoors. The different animals that can be seen in the woods though out the woods of Michigan. All the kids and the adults seemed to enjoy walking around the exhibits. After the tour 18 people went to dinner at DeLuca’s in  Garden City for Pizza and Salad. A good time was had by all.

    Tri-V 2016 Golf

The 2016 Tri V golf season will begin on Monday April 18th at 4:30pm at the Hickory Hill golf course in Wixom. The last night of golf will be August 15.

We will use a 100% handicap system again this year. There will be 2 halves but only 1 flight and the amount of points per night will be determined by the number of people that sign up to be in prize money. Each half will be 8 nights with the 17th night used as a playoff between the winners of each half and the next 2 highest point winners for the season.

The cost to get into the prize money for the season will be $30 per half.

Those who do not want to pay into the prize money can still join us for golf and can get into any daily jackpots if they choose to.

Please let the committee know asap by either link below if you plan on getting into the prize money so the number of points per night can be set before the 1st night of golf.

    From John & Judy Lardin

The time has finally arrived for the Lardin’s to make the trip back to MI. After much discussion it was decided that John should fly back since he continues to have the hip problems. Dear “Little Bro” Nick Angelosanto will fly down to Ft. Myers and drive back with Judy. John will fly back on Wed. and Nick will fly down on Thur. with Judy meeting him at the airport and hop in the car and head north on I-75 from the airport. The route home has to changes as a rock slide at the TN; KY border has closed north bound I-75. John has surgery on the hip scheduled for April 18th followed by four weeks of in home therapy three times a week followed by four weeks of out patient therapy three times a week. No driving for three weeks after surgery and a must to follow the therapy. Judy and John have the condo set again for next year and are hoping the weather will be better than this year. Jan. Ft Myers usually gets 1.8 in of rain and this Jan. they got 19 in along with two tornadoes. Feb it was lucky to get to the mid 70s with little sun most of the month. March was another story with the temps in the 80s and no rain as of this writing. The hip problem limited John to one round (made it though 14 holes) of golf and three rounds of nine holes. Was not a good year for John and looking for a complete recovery from hip surgery and get a chance to be his old self.

    April Tri-V Club Memories

MEMORIES FROM THE APRIL 2006 TRI-V UMPH
Our prayers this month are needed for several TRI-V Members and the extended family for accidents they suffered. First to Belinda Bliudzius, wife of Romas, on the passing of her Mother in CA. Next was Dave Ruetenik who fell and suffered slight concussion. This was followed a week later by again falling on a large glass vase and suffered many cuts and abrasions of which needed eight stitches on his cheek. Unfortunately the glass was also in the eye he lost the sight in the eye. Earl Tishler slipped on the ice hitting his head and the cut required stitches. Art Trachsel passed out in his kitchen while getting supper and test showed an irregular heartbeat. Mike Lardin was involved in an auto accident the end of March and though he was not injured, his “baby” Red Mustang was totaled and he is now driving a 2006 blacl Mustang GT. On the bright side Ann Marie and Dion Angelosanto welcomed the arrival of Isabella on March 20th.
Shirley and Bill Suchner are taking the auto train from Stanford FL to Lorton VA on their return to MI from FL. This will save them one night stay for the trip and they will stop and see Peg and Bob Wendt on the way for two nights. Dorothy and Ray Suchnere will be leaving FL for MI on April 28 and stop in Westland on the way to Interlochn MI to visit their grandson, Tony, and the new great-granddaughter. Judy and John Lardin continue to use their flight benefits with a trip to Las Vegas to help celebrate Judy’s sister-in-law and brother-in-laws 40th wedding anniversary followed by a trip to Illinois to visit Judy’s Mom and that followed by a trip by John to visit Kim and Larry in San Antonio TX. Judy’s retirement from Ford Motor Co. was scheduled for May 1st. TRI-V Golf season was set to begin on April 17t , the Men’s Club Open House was set for May 13th at the Jackal Golf Club, Mt. Brighton, the Wives Club Spring dinner was set for May 18th at Chef’s Cruisine, White Lake and the Ladies Weekend was set for Aug. 11th thru 13th at St. Joe, MI. The TRI-V Club Initiation will take place on June 2nd at Walker’s Speak Easy, Joy Rd, Dearborn Heights. Judy Lardins retirement from Ford Motor Co. took effect April 1st because of some new benefits changes that were to take effect in May. The 69th Anniversary Party for TRI-V was held on March 11th at The Maples of Novi. There were 44 Club Members and guest in attendance.

MEMORIES FROM THE APRIL 2011 TRI-V UMPH
So sorry to have to report the loss of Memorial Member John Fischer on March 28, 2011. Joan was married to Ruben Fischer several years ago unexpectialy and both will be missed.
Judy and John Lardin will be leaving FL and returning to MI on April 5th. They will return by way of IL to spend the rest of the week with Judy/s Mom and help celebrate her 88th birthday on April 7th. This will follow going back to IL with Bev, Mike and Alyssa to celebrate Easter returning the Mon. after Easter. The last planned trip will be to TX to visit Larry and family the weekend of May 20th.
The 74th TRI-V Anniversary Party was held in a very untraditional way. 30 Club members went to Northville Downs for a fun filled evening of food, company and betting. This change was necessary because of the closing of Hawthorne Valley Theatre.
Final Pinochle was set for April 16th at Leon’s of Wixom, Wixom, TRI-V Golf Season is scheduled to start on April 18th at Hickory Hills golf Mecca, Wixom, the TRI-V Children’s Easter Party set for April 23rd at Fairlane Woods Apartment Club House, Dearborn, and the Girl’s May Dinner set for May 18th at bayside Grill, Walled Lake MI.
Have you noticed how each month we read the names of our “loved” ones who are no longer with us? As you read the names take the time to think of some special memory you can associate with them and share that memory with fellow Club Members. Though they are gone they are part of the foundation the Club continues to exist on. We have a late Easter this year (2011). Can you think back to some Easter that was also this late in the season? I can remember one going to “Monkey Wards” on Grand River and Greenfield to shop for Easter Clothes with the sun shining brightly and all coatless. Considering all it was a good time and memories with family and friends. This raps up another trip down memory lane. Please continue to share your memories with family and friends. Don’t let them get lost. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
