AUGUST MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE AUGUST 2008 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Several members of the TRI-V Family were ailing and in need of our prayers this month. Art Trachsel continues to recover from his knee replacement surgery the first part of July. Terry Dunham’s father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in New York. Terry in the meantime came down with TIA or mini stroke and continues suffering with the problem the middle of August. We ask all to continue to remember them in your prayers. Jan and Cal Cashman visited their son in San Diego CA the first part of June visiting all parts of the area while Judy and John Lardin made a trip to Corpus Christi TX to visit son, Larry and family and help while he and Kim opened their family style restaurant. Shirley and Bill Suchner’s planned trip on a paddlewheel boat from St. Paul MN to St. Louis MO was changed due to flooding on the upper Mississippi River and the trip started at Cincinnati OH instead. While on the “cruise” Bill came down with a 24 hour virus and Shirley caught one the next day. Not quite the trip they planned. John took delivery of his new Ford Flex (red box). He finally found a vehicle that gave him ample, leg and shoulder room. The Steak Roast was set for Aug. 9 at Mettala Park, Wixom and Final Golf set for the weekend of Aug. 16. The Tri-V Family Picnic was held July 27 at Mettala Park, Wixom, with 55 adults and 26 children in attendance. Michelle and Jay Trachsel won the egg toss and Bill Suchner and Sherry Kuhr won the golf chipping contest.

MEMORIES FROM THE AUGUST 2013 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

August of 2013 everyone was in good health. Tim Gies is officially retired as of May 3. Tim and Karlyn celebrated a wedding in Caseville, MI and then a trip to Anchorage, Alaska followed by a cruise to Van Couver, Canada and then to Seattle, Washington and ending in San Francisco. August proves to be a busy month for Judy Lardin. After almost a year she was able to close on her mom’s house July 26 in Illinois. Judy thought she would be able to relax but circumstances have made it necessary for her to perform her grandmother duties which she does enjoy. John and Judy made a trip to Idaho to visit her last surviving uncle on her mother’s side during August. Michelle Trachsel had a busy summer; on top of working, keeping up with the kids, moving into a new house, playing softball, volleyball, and golf, she managed to find time to train for some cool events. In June she completed her first Tough Mudder in Brooklyn for a twelve mile run and in July she completed her tenth career Triathlon. The girl’s weekend is scheduled for September 24 and 25 at the Frederick Meijer’s garden in Grand Rapids, MI. Final golf is scheduled for the weekend of August 16-18 in Gaylord. The Steak Roast is scheduled for August 31 at Mettala Park, Wixom. The Tri-V annual picnic was held July 13 attended by 18 club members and 1 perspective family for a total of 45 adults and 29 children. We are now in what they call the dog days of summer and needless to say this has been a hot summer with very little rain. Next month we will be getting ready for the little ones to start school. Maybe now would be a good time to share the memories you went through when you started school, maybe the first time in grade school, junior high or high school. Were you nervous? Mom or dad wanted to walk you there but you thought as a first grader you were too old to have them walk with you? Perhaps now take the time to talk about those special days this summer you enjoyed as a family, the picnic, vacation out of town or the trip to an amusement park. Share these memories, don’t let them pass. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
