MEMORIES FROM THE October 2015 issue of TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE October 2015 issue of TRI-V Umph
There were no reported persons needing our prayers for October. A group of 10 TRI-V women went to Hankerd Inn, Pleasant Lake, MI and enjoyed each other’s company for three days and two nights. They were so impressed with Hankerd Inn they made reservations for the following August.
Marbles began the first Saturday evening in October; all seemed to enjoy. Pinochle also began the third Saturday evening of October with only one house of players. The Tri-V social is planned for November with a visit to Motown Museum with dinner to follow. The Children’s Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Livonia YMCA including swimming.
John and Judy Lardin are planning to make a trip to Corpus Christi TX to celebrate granddaughter Christine’s 11th birthday with a trip in December to celebrate grandson Jacob’s birthday. They will again travel to FL for three months the first part of January. They also hope to make a trip to Illinois to visit Judy’s family and a trip to Akron OH to visit John’s family. John is doing well with his defibrillator/ pacemaker.
Jan Cashman also reported she is doing well with her defibrillator/pacemaker at this time and does not see the cardiologist for six months.
This wraps up another trip down memory lane. The kids and grandchildren are getting antsy with this COVID. Some are already in school and others have opted to do virtual and everyone needs to have patience. Our patience with some of them is being stretched. Soon we will be celebrating Thanksgiving and new memories will be developed. Take time now to think back about those thanksgiving dinners and the Hudson Parade and share with your children/grandchildren. Until we meet you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

We are going to have a meeting on September 8th at Rotary Park in Livonia start time will be between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. Please try to attend as we will be discussing and voting on the dues and events for the rest of this year and 2021 winter events.
I am recommending that dues be cancelled for next year in light of the virus’s effect on all indoor events. A vote on this and any other club actions that will need to be adjusted due to effects of covid is needed.

    Presidents Message
This strange hot summer has finally come to an end. In August we held the Tri V steak roast at Jeff and Karen’s home with I believe 12 people attending. They enjoyed the pool, good company and good food. Thanks again Jeff and Karen for opening your house for the roast.
Tri V golf ended on Monday August 24th with the championship playoff between Mike Trachsel (1st half winner), Matt VanHollebeke (2nd half winner) , Jay Trachsel and Bill Trachsel wild card point leaders. Matt V dominated from the first to last hole with a 39 to easily win by 3.5 point to the next closest golfer. Congratulations Matt and a thank you to Dave Burke for keeping track of all point, prize and side bet money which was paid out at final golf. Speaking of final golf it was held on the weekend of August 28th to 30th at Hankard Inn near Jackson. We did have rain on Friday that caused us to only play 9 holes but we had great weather the rest of the weekend. Mike Trachsel and Matt V ran a Ryder cup format again this year and Team Dave Burke beat Team Bill Trachsel by 1 point. This format is fun and keeps things interesting right to the end. Thank you Mike and Matt for all the working putting final golf together.

August was a busy month for John Lardin…

August was a busy month for John Lardin. It started with fulfilling an item on his bucket list. He loves Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss 80 piece orchestra. He told Judy he would fly to Europe if he had to see him perform. Fortunately they will be in Florida March 5, 2021 and John bought floor seats to see him. John celebrated his birthday for a week having dinner with friends and family on different occasions. John also had many doctor appointments including chemo at Botsford/Beaumont. He saw the cardiologist and he had an echocardiogram; EKG, and also had him walk around office and check his oxygen level. Also had 7 vials of blood taken to check absolutely everything. Fortunately all results were positive. He has a Doppler scheduled for the carotid arteries next month. His faithful “bride” Judy continues to take care of him. He doesn’t know what he would do without her. John also golfed on Monday with Tri-V and on Friday he plays 18 with the seniors. Judy’s excitement including a sleepover for 3 days with Alyssa; Judy did take Alyssa to the dollar tree for an outing but will not go to mall with her. Alyssa spent most of the 3 days in the neighbor’s pools—she has made many friends and they all have pools. John and Judy hope to visit Larry and family in October to celebrate their granddaughter’s 16th birthday. John is still planning to go to Florida for three months the first of the year. He says at least it will be warm and I won’t have to worry about falling. Judy’s on the fence about the trip to Texas and Florida because of the Coronavirus. Time will tell.

With September being the month we celebrate Grandparents…

With September being the month we celebrate Grandparents Day we went this to all of our Grandmas in Tri-V.

Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. The child asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”
God replied, “Among the angels, I’ll choose one for you. Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”
The child further inquired, but tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to e happy.”
God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel the angel’s love and be very happy.”
Again the child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?”
God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words that you will ever hear, and with much patience and care your angel will teach you how to speak.”
I’ve heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?”
God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”
At the moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now please tell me my angel’s name.”
God replied, “Her name is not important. You will simply call her “GRANDMA.”

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2015 ISSUE OF TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2015 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
The oldest member of Tri-V, Art Trachsel, will be turning 95 on Sept. 16. He is really excited about it and I know he will appreciate hearing from you. The men’s golf league completed the season, Mike Trachsel took home the A flight championship; Nick Angelosanto won the B flight. Final golf had 32 golfers in Gaylord at Ray’s retreat. Marbles will be played the first Saturday of the month beginning in October. Pinochle will be moved to the third Saturday of the month. The Children’s Christmas party is scheduled for Sunday, December 6. Jeff Trachsel and Karen Thrift would like to announce the birth of their granddaughter Harper Danielle, daughter of Steve and Andrea Novak. After two months Judy Lardin finally got her new Ford Flex. The same color (red) as John’s but she says it has more gadgets. Judy and John went to see oldest son Johnnie new home near Alpena. The home is 3 bedrooms, 2 baths in the middle of nowhere. At least that is what Judy and John think. This wraps up another trip down Memory Lane. School will have started by the time most have read this. Thank back when you or your children started the school each year, especially those starting kindergarten for their first school experience. The excitement most had shown and the look on their face as well as the look on Mom’s face knowing that she was finally going to have a little alone time. Most of all make it a point to be involved with the activities your children get into. Allow our schedule for BOTH Mom and Dad to attend the game or the concert. It means more to your kids than you might realize. I remember two years ago I was at one of the boy’s concert in Canton and they always honor those that have been in the service. There were not that many veterans in attendance and when they sang the Air Force fight song and I stood up I could see my grandson telling the guys sitting next to him with a big proud smile on his face “that’s my Grandpa”. Until we meet you in print next month, the Good Lord Willing, take care of one another.

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2010 ISSUE OF TRI…

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2010 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
The September issue of the TRI-V Umph was a very small issue with no reports of any of the TRI-V family in need of our prayers. This does not happen often but is a blessing when it does. The only trifle was reported by the Lardins on their trip to Corpus Christi TX to visit son Larry and family over the Labor Day Weekend. This was brought about when three year old grandson, Jacob, came out of his bedroom with his suitcase packed and told his mom he was going to the airport to visit Grandma and Grandpa. A group of the TRI-V family made plans for a weeklong trip to Branson MS leaving on Sun. Sept. 19. There was a report on the Steak Roast held on Aug. 14 at Gunnar Mettala Park Wixom and the Girls Weekend on Aug. 20 at the Mannsiding Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Harrison MI

    Presidents Message
The summer is slowly winding down and all of our members that have school age children or are teachers are grappling with how to safely return to the classroom in September.
The Tri V picnic took pace at Rotary Park on July 26th. There were 19 adults and 9 kids in attendance. The weather was good and the kids played with water balloons and squirt guns, the older kids later played volley ball. All the adults were able to relax in the shade while catching up with how everyone is dealing with this strange summer.
The 2nd half of the Tri V golf season ends this week and Matt VanHollebeke has a commanding lead. There are a number of people in who can still get into the wild card playoff for the season championship take place the following week. Good luck to everyone involved in the championship playoff.
The Tri V steak roast was held at Jeff and Karen’s Saturday August 8th with a small gathering who enjoyed the pool and dinner. Thank you again Jeff and Karen for opening your house up to Tri V for a wonderful day.
Mike Trachsel has set up the final golf courses and tee times for golf weekend scheduled for August 28th,29th,30th weekend at Hankard inn. Mike is working to set up meals and rooms as safely as possible.
The stag committee is looking at having an outdoor event possible glow golf later in September. More information will be forthcoming. .
All events are subject to change or cancellation as new news comes out.

I will be setting up a club meeting for the 2nd week of September at Rotary Park. The day of the meeting will be announced in a text or email ASAP. We will discuss the past summer events and decide on what the fall and winter calendar will look like.
I am also recommending canceling dues for next year in light of the virus’s effect on all indoor events. A vote on this and any other club actions that will need to be adjusted due to effects of covid is needed.

    Tri V July Picnic
The July picnic took place on July 26th at Rotary Park in Livonia. We had a total of 28 people in attendance with 19 adults and 9 kids. With this summer being what it is due to the virus each family brought their own food. Masks and social distancing was practiced but it was still good to see and catch up with everyone. The weather was very warm but with a cool breeze and some shade it was very comfortable. There were no organized games but we had water balloons and squirt guns for the kids and they had a great time. Later the older kids played a few games of volleyball.
The committee supplied the balloons, squirt guns, chips and gummie fruit snacks.

July was another busy month for Judy and…

July was another busy month for Judy and John. There were the two weeks each month that John has chemo plus golfing on each Friday so the remaining days can make the month busy’ July stared with the death of John’s Uncle Mike (John’s mothers brother) on June 30th and the funeral in Hillsdale Mi on July 6th. He had a pace maker installed on June 6th in Kalamazoo and was working at 96% when installed until his death. Any Dr. that John talked to did not know of anyone getting a pace maker at age 99. We were honored to have Judy’s sister and niece visit us over the July 4th weekend, arriving on Thur. and going home on Sun. which kept Judy busy. Add the TRI-V picnic on the 26th and Judy helping out with the elderly neighbor and we do keep busy. Oh almost forgot there were a couple of sleep overs with Alyssa but I assume that you knew that was going to happen. Like all of us the corona virus has changed our life style but we are strong and will overcome the virus. Just keep praying for our TRI-V Family as well as our friends. THEY DO WORK.
