    Presidents Message

I was saddened to hear that friend and longtime member John Lardin passed away in Florida on Friday April 9th. John had experienced failing health since a hernia operation in early February. John and Judy’s sons Mike and Brian were able to see John in the hospital while Larry and Johnny face timed before Easter. John was moved to Hope Hospice House near their home just after Easter.
John will be cremated in Florida and there will be a remembrance service in Michigan at a later date.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Judy and the entire Lardin family. John’s sprite, laughter, and thoughtfulness will be missed by all of his Tri V friends. John had become Tri V’s soul leading prayers at meetings and many events.

    We will miss you John.

    Tri V Golf 2021 The Tri V golf…

    Tri V Golf 2021

The Tri V golf season will begin April 19th at Hickory Hill. Our tee times are still 4:30pm.
The season will be 2 eight week halves (unless shortened due to rain) with each half winner and the next 2 highest yearly point players playing for the seasonal championship on week 17.
I will be collecting $30 per half (I prefer cash to make final payout easier) for people planning on getting into the seasonal prize money. We will again be collecting side bet money before golf starts. The side bets will be payed out that night after golf. You need pay the day of golf to be eligible for the side bets for that day. You can get into closest to the pin on greenies but if you miss playing on the day of golf you will need to pay for the missed week if there is a carryover from the missed week. Dave will keep a running point tally for each half and total points for the yearly play in. The season will end August 16th.

Update on Brother John: I finally secured access to the site, Thanks Dave. As I hope from my attempt to e-mail everybody, John Kardin has had sever health difficulties while in Florida this winter. Summarizing is case you are not aware: he had a hernia operation early and seem to recover okay, Any procedure with John’s condition is a concern. About three weeks ago , he complain of stomach pain, Judy took him to urgent care and the ER. Long story short, after additional testing and debate, his gale bladder was remove with 30-40 gale stone. The doctors also drained large qty. ( 5 liters) of fluid. Again shortening the story, he was released and sent back to the condo where he developed difficulties walking and sitting and fell a couple of time before he was taken back to the hospital. John’s condition has gone down hill since then. Mike and Brain flew to Florida and this morning I received a email reply that John is not doin well at all and that the family is investigating hospice. There is no plan to return to Michigan in the near future. PLEASE keep John and the family in your prayers. AS more information is learned, I will post.

    Presidents Message

The Tri V summer schedule is on the horizon with new hope that a full schedule can happen next year. The vaccination rollout is picking up steam and state restrictions are slowly being relaxed. Liz and I got our second shot today and I know of other of the older members and spouses already receiving both shots also. Hopefully everyone will soon be fully vaccinated so we can gather face to face without worries.
The Tri V golf season will hopefully begin April 19th.
Nick has the May open house scheduled for May 15th at Rolling Meadows see the report in this month’s paper.
The Tri V family picnic scheduled for Sunday July 18th at Rotary park pavilion 3.
I heard Dale Horst that is heart valve replacement was performed on March 5th and he was set to be released from the hospital March 8th. Dale is looking forward to being back to normal activities soon.

    Stay safe, Stay healthy
JUST a REMINDER to everyone to please use the club paper, text messaging and calling list as much as possible to keep the club informed of anything happening within the Tri V family.

Thank you for all the prayers John had…

Thank you for all the prayers.

John had the hernia surgery today. They were well prepared.
On February 1 John had to have blood work done at hospital to cross match blood if may be needed for/after surgery. On February 2 oncologist gave John another iron infusion.
February 3 was like a free day.
Today Judy had to take John to hospital at 5:30 a.m. Judy went with him to registration and to third floor surgery. Once they called John for prep they asked Judy to leave. They texted me with the following:
7:23 am patient in operating room
    8:11 am procedure began
    9:19 am procedure complete
    9:23 patient in recovery area
9:34 Dr. called. Very large hernia; keep iced over weekend; take it easy over weekend.

The oncologist said he may want to give John one more infusion next week–depends on iron level after last blood draw.

John cannot begin his chemo treatments for four weeks after surgery; he has follow-up with surgeon on February 17.

John saw the surgeon on February 17 and got the all clear. No lifting over 15 lbs. for the next four weeks. The next four weeks are very crucial for your healing. The hernia was twisted and stuck so the incision is about 5 inches long. John forgot to ask if he could golf–Judy told him his golf bag weights more than 15 lbs.

John had another iron infusion with the oncologist on Feb. 12. John was scheduled to have chemo on Feb. 16 and Judy called and said the surgery was only two weeks ago and John is to receive his second Covid vaccine on Feb. 25. The oncologist agreed to put off chemo until March 1. Needed to make sure no reaction to second vaccine which John did not have any reaction.

    Thanks again–those prayers work.

MEMORIES FROM MARCH 2016 ISSUE OF TRI V…

MEMORIES FROM MARCH 2016 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
The Tri-V family would like to thank Karen and Jeff (mostly Karen) for putting the newsletter together for so many years. Karen recently informed us that she would like to give the job to someone else. She has done a great a job over the years keeping TRI-V families informed.
The nomination of three Council Seats will take place at the Club meeting on March 8, 2016. Please review your history of officers list which was provided in January so you will be prepared to nominate and vote officers for a two year council seat.
MARBLES standings the end of March had Kim Burke in first place with 50 points, Kristen Trachsel and Steve Trachsel tied for second with 48 points and in third place was Matt Hoffman.
Ken and Kate Stress hosted February pinochle with seven couples. Great food followed with cards. Romas came in first place for the evening.
PINOCHLE STANDINGS the end of February had Romas Bliudzius in first place with 116 points; Jane Trachsel in second place with 114.5 points and Mike Trachsel in third place with 99 points.
Final Pinochle and Marbles is scheduled for Sunday April 17; dinner from 5-7 p.m. followed by feather bowling from 7-8 p.m.
The March Event is scheduled for March 26, 2016 which is an Outdoor Adventure followed after the tour.
Tri-V golf will start on April 18 with 1 flight this year using 100% handicap. There will be two halves to the season.
May Open house is scheduled for May 14, 2016 at Beacon Hill, White Lake Township. This will be a shotgun start with dinner following golf consisting of hamburgers and hotdogs. The month of Feb. is gone and like Jan. was not the best month for snowbirds. John’s hip continues to give him problems and is able to golf but limited to nine holes. He plans to have his hip replaced when he returns to Michigan. Jan and Cal Cashman and Lee and Marian Anderson have made it to FL. Marian is recuperating from her hip replacement with physical therapy while Lee has surgery planned on his knee in May in Michigan. Cashmans and Lardins will be returning to Michigan sometime in April.
Sherry Kuhr thanked everyone best month for the snowbirds in FL. There were many cloudy days and very few days in the 80’s or high 70’s. Judy made another trip up north to take care of her crown and to see Alyssa. John’s hip continues to give him some problems but not as severe as it was in Jan. He has been able who has a new address for Marilyn Myers. She would love to hear from her Tri-V friends.
Terry Connolly had his mitral valve replaced in February with a bovine valve. He was planning to have shoulder surgery however during his pre-op physical he was sent to see a cardiologist. Surgery went well and was in home in four days. He developed bronchitis with much pressure and pain on his chest with coughing. He is now walking one block and is improving thanks to all the prayers being said for him.
This wraps up another trip down memory lane. 2010 was the last year for the steak roast to be held at Fraser Acres. Fraser and Blondie were such gracious hosts for over 25 years. As I type the memories there seems to be less and less to reflect upon. Take the time to share your memories with family and friends. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

MEMORIES FROM MARCH 2011 ISSUE OF TRI V…

MEMORIES FROM MARCH 2011 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
A note from Sue Leskiewicz, daughter of Earl Tishler, informed us that he is not doing well. We ask you to remember him in our prayers. He had a serious health issue in Feb. and they do not know if it was a stroke or it is just the gradual decline of Alzheimer’s. He doesn’t recognize her and is in a wheel chair as he is very weak and at risk of injury. John Lardin reports that the month of Feb. in FL has been as good as one could ask for. You have a nice day and ask “Can it get any better?” and the next day is asking “Can it get any better?” Their oldest son John came down for an extended weekend the middle of Feb. and plans on returning in March. Jack Schaefer and Nick Angelosanto made it down for a week and joined Lee Anderson and John for a couple rounds of golf and they were followed by Bev, Mike and Alyssa for a week. Judy was in her glory as she was able to see Alyssa crawl for the first time. Judy and John made a quick trip up north for two days to celebrate granddaughter Bella’s birthday. Final visitors were Judy’s sister-in-law (John’s sister) and brother-in law for a few days from Spring Hills, FL. Ellie and Terry Connolly were coming in March to spend the month of March. Andersons, Lardins, Kuhrs and Gies met at the pub in Del Tura CC on March 3 for a name that tune contest. They held their own. The Gies were busy with visitors starting with Tracy, Nick and grandkids in early Feb. followed by daughter, Lisa, and her family in March. This was followed by a visit from Kathy and Art Dushary for a boat trip from Ft. Myers to Key West. The Winter Event was held on Feb. 27 at the Cadieux Café, Detroit. It was an evening of feather bowling attended by 12 members and 13 guests. The TRI-V Anniversary Party was set for March 12 at Northville Downs. The Tri-V Girls May dinner was set for May 18 at Bayside Grill, Walled Lake. Final Pinochle was set for April 16 at Leon’s of Wixom, Wixom. Final Pinochle standings for the 2010-2011 season had Jane Trachsel in first place with 139 points; Mike Trachsel in second place with 140 points, Jeff Trachsel in third place with 139 points and Vickie Angelosanto in fourth place with 137 points.

    Presidents Message

I am hopeful that the vaccine rollout will ramp up quickly to allow a return to what we would all consider normal by the start of summer.
The Tri V calendar at this time consists of only outdoor activities starting with Tri V golf in April then the May open house, The Tri V family picnic scheduled for Sunday July 18th, the Tri V steak roast in August and final golf. All other activities are on hold until indoor activities can be held safely.
I am requesting help for all the above listed events so please let me know if you can help on any of the committees.
I have reserved Rotary Park pavilion #3 for July 18th for the Tri V picnic.
Toward the end of February Dale Horst will undergo a heart valve replacement so keep Dale in your thoughts and prayers.
The 2 Tri V bowling teams returned to action February 2nd and the young
Tri V team won the 1st half roll off by 1 point. Why to go guys.

    Stay safe, Stay healthy
