DECEMBER MEMORIES
MEMORIES FROM THE DECEMBER 2007 TRI-V UMPH
What a wonderful way to start the Christmas Issue of TRI-V Umph with no reported RI-V family members in need of our prayers though I do imagine there might have been some. There were a few reported traveling the later part of Nov. and Dec. The Clingermans spent Thanksgiving in Mexico for their nephew’s wedding. Ken Plocharczyk to Las Vegas to lend a helping hand to his brother-in-law, Kirk Trachsel who was recovering from leg surgery and the Hoffman’s and Bill Trachsel’s returning to MI for the Christmas holiday. Bob and Peg Wendt have decided to stay where they are and not go to a retirement home at this time as their health continues to be on the positive side. We had the details about the trip to Greece in late Sept. by the Kuhr and Tim, Jerry, Karlyn and Barb Gies. There were articles on the Florida TRI-V Anniversary Party on March 15 in Elton, FL, the TRI-V Council party to be held at Novi Bowl, Novi, on Jan. 26 and the TRI-V February Social a guided tour of the Detroit Institute of Arts on Feb. 23. We read about the November Social held Dec. 7 at the Palace of Auburn Hills and the Children’s Christmas Party and pinochle hosted by the Schaefer’s. Pinochle standings through Dec. play had Jeff Trachsel in first place with 77.5 points, Jacqui Schaefer in second place with 73 points and Kate Stress in third place with 68.5 points. This has been a special year for the TRI-V family. I cannot remember in all my years as a Club member so many of us suffering both Club losses as well as personal family member losses. For all we have to thankful for the support and love shared with the Tri-V Family. In 2002 we had 2002 Christmas greetings and in 2007 we had 22 Christmas greetings. This has been about average but could be more. It does not take much effort to send a greeting. How will 2012 be?
MEMORIES FROM THE DECEMBER 2012 TRI-V UMPH
What a wonderful way to start once again with no reported Tri-V family members in need of our prayers though I do imagine there might have been some. Twenty four members and wives travelled to Birmingham, MI for the November social to see the musical “Sunset Boulevard” at the Birmingham Village Players, followed by dinner at Pasquale’s family restaurant. The Lardin’s hosted December pinochle attended by the Connolly’s, Angelosanto’s, Stress’s, Robyn Mackson and Romas Bliudzius, Karen Thrift and Jeff Trachsel. High points for the night were Terry Connolly with 30.5 points; Jeff with 25 points and Judy with 21 points. Upcoming events include the Children’s Christmas party on Dec. 16 at the Grand Parlor at Garden City Historical Museum and the Tri-V Council party on Jan. 19 at the Detroit Institute of Arts followed by dinner at the Traffic Jam and Snug restaurant located in midtown Detroit. The only known travelers were Judy and John Lardin making their annual trip to Corpus Christi, TX to celebrate grandson Jacob’s sixth birthday and Christmas. On their return they will get ready for their 3 month stay at Fort Myers, FL. leaving in January and returning in April. We are happy to report that Judy did survive her week of watching two year old Alyssa. She is tired but did say “If necessary, would do it again”. In 2007 we reported 22 Christmas greetings unfortunately only 12 in 2012. Pinochle standings in December had Jane Trachsel in first with 82.5 points, Terry Connolly second with 71.5 points, and Jack Schaefer third with 67.5 points. One cannot help as we watch our children and grandchildren open their gifts how it was when they were small and the excitement when they received that “special” gift they asked Santa for and were fortunate to receive. Take the time this year to share these memories, take pictures or movies to share in the future with the family. Most important do not let the precious moments disappear as they happen. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
