    MARK ELLIOTT

    MARK ELLIOTT

Mark passed away on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, at 11:30pm at home. He had been in the hospital and returned on Good Friday, April 19th. He was initiated into TRI-V in 1988. His involvement in TRI-V was a regular bowler (average in the 180s) and golfing in the league (a low handicapper). Mark always had a smile on his face and had the one liner jokes that kept us laughing. He enjoyed joining us in February when the group went to Florida for a winter break and playing golf for five days. After his father passed away he was the escort with his Mom for pinochle and other TRI-V events. Mark had been confined to a wheel chair and oxygen for years and pretty much confined to home. He was embarrassed about his health condition and spent very little time out of his home. When he arrived at home on Friday he was so exhausted that his sister, Sandy who he lived with, had to call 911 to have the paramedics get him in the house and to his recliner. He spent most of the next two days asleep and his pain finally came to an end on Easter Sunday. I talked to Mark before he went into the hospital and the last thing he said to me was “I regret not being more active in TRI-V.”

    JANUARY MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE JANUARY 2009 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

We were fortunate to start out the New Year with no reported illnesses in the TRI-V Family. We did have one scare when Bud Massoll fell the first weekend of Jan. and was thought to have broken his arm. Fortunately he did not break anything but is bruised. For those who might be ailing we ask you to remember them in your prayers. Speaking of accidents Barb and Jerry Gies had an accident on Jan 4 when he hit a curb in downtown Detroit and blew out three tires. They were rescued by Karlyn and Tim Gies. They were forced to postpone their flight to FL for a week. Bill and Shirley Suchner along with Peg and Bob Wendt spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at Kathie and Art Dushary’s home in Ocala FL while Diane and Ken Plocharczyk spent Christmas in Fl visiting Art. The three of them drove over to North Fort Myers to spend Christmas Day and dinner with Onallee and Bill and lunch with Geri and Dave Ruetenik. Jan and Cal Cashman flew to AZ over the Thanksgiving holiday to be with their daughter Kathy and family. From there they drove to Laughlin and Las Vegas NV enjoying the sights of the strip and Hoover Dam. After their arrival back in MI they decided to leave Christmas morning for OH to celebrate Christmas Day with Jan’s mother and family returning on Dec. 30 to prepare for New Years Eve. Donna and John Clingerman had a wonderful Christmas as both of their girls, their spouses and the grand dog were their guests for 11 days while Judy and John Lardin spent the first week of Dec. in Corpus Christi TX celebrating the second birthday of grandson Jacob’s as well as an early Christmas. The TRI-V Council Party is scheduled for Jan. 17 at Cranberries Café, Goodrich, to have a Murder Mystery Dinner. The Winter Event is scheduled for Feb. 21 at the Detroit Science Center, Detroit and will include hands on activities and scientific theater shows. Bev and Mile Lardin hosted pinochle in Jan. and the winners were Mike coming in first place with 32.5 points, John Clingerman coming in second place with 26 points and Lynn Barnes coming in third place with 25.5 points. Judy and John Lardin also hosted pinochle in Jan. and the winners there were Jane Trachsel coming in first place with 27.5 points, Jeff Trachsel coming in second place with 22.5 points and Brian Trachsel coming in third place with 21 points. Pinochle standings through Jan. play had Robyn Mackson in first place with 112 points, John Jackson in second place with 97.5 points and John Clingerman in third place with 93 points.

MEMORIES FROM THE JANUARY 2014 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

There is not too much to write about from the 2014 issue of Tri-V Umph.

President Bill Trachsel and family were able to spend a few days at Myrtle Beach after Christmas while Judy and John Lardin had a busy month in December. Christmas was celebrated on five different occasions for them. First was on the Dec. 9 with Larry and family in Texas, and then grandson, Dante, birthday on the 16 of Dec. and on the 24th with Mike and Bev, and Christmas morning with their oldest son John and family and on the 27th at son Brian’s to celebrate including on Jan. 1 with John’s sisters and family.

Tri-V pinochle was hosted by the Angelosanto’s on January 4 and that was the year of the big snow when Judy and John left early for Florida and missed pinochle to miss the storm.

The Council party was scheduled for Jan. 16 at the Dakota Inn Rathskeller, Detroit’s only authentic German bar and restaurant. Pinochle standings through January had Romas Bliudzius in first place with 111 points, Robyn Mackson second with 105.5 points, and Jane Trachsel in third with 102.5 points.

This wraps up another trip down memory lane. We hear how three houses hosting with 21 people playing. This year we have two houses hosting Jan. Twenty people playing plus another 5 people playing in FL. The numbers are not that much different as we have gained a few players but lost a few. Unfortunately we have not picked up many new players and in the next couple of years could be in real trouble as bowling was and had to be disbanded with no Tri-V Bowling league though there are a few TRI-V members bowling in a league. Somehow the Club needs an infusion of new members to keep all going. If not we will not have a lot of memories to share of the things we used to do. We have to keep participating in the activities to make the Club stay strong. Think of those past events that have become our memories and all do their part to help make the new memories. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    Newsletter Update

    Hello Tri-V Friends,

I’m sure you have noticed a 2nd text message and an email containing the paper. Please note both of those were sent in error and can be disregarded. I decided to spend my lunch hour messing with the website and made a couple mistakes. Sorry for the spam!

Previously I had planned to have the paper send out at the end of each month. Apparently this is not working with the plugin/app I am using. Therefore the paper will be sent on the first Sunday of each month. However my request to submit all articles by the last day of each month still stands so I have a chance to make any necessary edits so ensure everything gets included.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
    -Dave
