    Golf League Updated

After 3 weeks of the 2nd half, we have a pretty good race going. Mike, Terry, and Steve are all within 4 points of each other and Jay and I are not out of reach either. Steve came out of his shell this week and crushed the competition to win low net. Looks like he’s trying for a reverse of last year – golf crappy at the end of the season instead of at the beginning… smart.

Speaking of Steve, there was a dispute over his score from week 8 (I think). Apparently there was a large discrepancy over the final score, but it appears to be a math error on the scoresheet because when adding each individual hole correctly, the final number was different. However, the caveat is hole #8 had a sloppy number written on it so maybe Steve can verify his score. The point is please write your scores neatly and double check your addition to avoid scoring issues.

Good luck and see you on the course!

Well the sandbagger Mike strikes again, with another “amazing” round to take low net this week. Mike is 2 for 2 in sub-40 rounds the second half after going 0 for 4 in the first half. Wow, did you take lessons??? Hmmmm…

There was a mistake in skins last week as Jay didn’t even bother to write my scores down on the calculation sheet. Thanks Jay, I know I suck but you could at least pretend I might win a skin. For your information, I actually did manage to bogey #8 thank you very much. This causes one of Mike’s skins to be canceled so he owes Bill and Jay a buck. Yay Tri-V!!!

    That is all.

Good luck and see you on the course!

    sand·bag (sndbg)
    n.
A bag filled with sand and used as ballast, in the formation of protective walls, or as a weapon.
    v.intr. Slang
To downplay or misrepresent one’s ability in order to deceive someone, especially in gambling.

I think I’m looking for the second definition… Let me introduce you Mike Trachsel. Nice round Mike, but let me give you some advice. Besides sudden, unexpected, and miraculously improved play, what’s the #1 tell-tale sign of a sandbagger? The guy who walks into the “19th hole” and starts defending himself from sandbagging immediately before even announcing his score. The second sign is shooting 7 below your average. At least you didn’t dedicate an entire season to playing like crap so you could dominate everyone only to blow it at the end. Hmmmm….. Just kidding Mike (and Jeff), nice round.

The only serious news for this week is Bill, Jay, and Steve dropped a score last week with Jeff to follow the next time he golfs.

Good luck and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

Today is week 8 and is the first week of the 2nd half. Its like a fresh new season; all your bad golfing has been erased, and you can take the chance to win it again… or just keep golfing like crap, your choice.

We had a tight race to close out the first half between Bill and Jeff, but Bill was able to maintain and extend his slight lead to secure his position in the finals at the end of the year. Jeff needed a two stroke win, but came up three stokes short as handicaps were a factor. However regardless of handicaps, Bill won the match straight up by one stroke. Consistentcy finally paid off as Bill’s scoring standard deviation was by far the lowest, enabling him to slowly chip away and finally overtake Jeff’s commanding lead.

Congratulations Bill, and good luck to everyone this 2nd half!

Good luck and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

Today is week 7 and is the last week of the 1st half. Its a tight race to the finish line as Bill and Jeff are neck and neck with only 0.5 points separating the two. Looks like the first half all comes down to one round for both of them.

As for the rest of us, we’ve all been mathematically eliminated from the 1st half. Better luck next half and lets try to get some points anyway.

Good luck and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

Well I guess I spoke too soon, as the first half just got a little tighter. With Jeff getting shut out and Bill scoring 5 points, there is a possibilty for Bill tying or overtaking Jeff for the first half, as he’s trailing by just 5 points. With just two weeks of golf left in the first half, it looks like we might have a close race down the stretch after all!

FYI #1: Hopefully everyone was aware we did not golf last week (5/28) due to Memorial Day. This is the standard condition as far as I can remember, so hopefully there was no confusion.

FYI #2: Three golfers (Mike L., Mike T., and myself) dropped a score this week, as we have golfed four weeks overall. Terry will potentially drop a score this week assuming he golfs.

Good luck and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

Another week and another impressive performance by Jeff. He’s really golfing well, and has lowered his score each week. This week a +1 over par 36 took first place, giving him an almost perfect 23 out of 24 (max) points. Unfortunately for the rest of us regular (crappy) golfers, this means there is little hope of overcoming the commanding lead he’s built up. However, the good news is he dropped that “blemish” 42 score to lower his handicap down to a miniscule 3.7. Nice golfing Jeff, but a 36 might not take first place this week… better try for a 34.

FYI: Four golfers (Bill, Jay, Jeff, and Steve) dropped a score this week, as they had golfed four weeks overall. Three other golfers (Mike L., Mike T., and myself) will potentially drop a score this week assuming we all golf.

Good luck and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

This week Jeff was out-sandbagged by the up and coming Mike Lewandowski. Its about time you took advantage of that monster handicap, Mike! I think maybe after two years of extreme sandbagging, Mike is ready to strike! Watch out everyone!

Jeff still took 2nd place this week, extending his commanding 1st half points lead. However, his handicap is finally back to respectability so maybe it’ll be a little more difficult down the stretch.

Finally, congratulations to Steve Trachsel for winning a skin on hole #1 with a bogey! Really? Nobody else could at least bogey #1? Really? I guess timing is everything…

Good luck and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

The score sheets are finally up to date for the new season. There were some errors regarding averages since the sheet was not updated and 100% hdcp had not yet been applied. Please double check the scores and notify me if there are any issues or questions.

Jeff continued to take advantage of his pathetic season last year (sandbagger) by winning another 5 points. Yes, I did check his last year’s average several times and its correct. In case you wanted to know, he golfed 6 times last year and scored 50, 49, 46, 43, 47 & 49 for a starting year average of 46.8. So far this year he’s scored a 42 and a 40.

Good luck and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated (2012 Start)

Yay! Bowling is finally over and golf has begun! As you maybe didn’t know, we (I) sucked at bowling so I’m looking forward to sucking at golf too! 🙂 Golf starts 4/23, so I hope you can make it out. Unfortunately I can’t, so I’ll see you next week. Getting “in the money” is the same as last year, $30 per half. Please get your money to Jay asap, we’d like to have it all by the 3rd week at the latest.

    Good luck and have fun!
