    Golf League Updated

The close to the 2nd half was uneventful, with the only two who could make any waves, Steve and myself, completely blowing it. Steve and I both were terrible and had no effect on the 2nd half outcome. Therefore in A flight, its a father/son showdown with Jay taking on Bill and in B flight, Mike (Lew) tries to take down Mr. Consistent, Nick. Good luck to both A and B flight golfers.

This is the last week of our season this year, thanks to everyone for participating! I hope it was a fun season for everyone and I look forward to seeing you at final golf this weekend and/or at the beginning of next year. As always, please let Jay or myself know if there is anything we can do to help improve the league.

    Golf League Updated

Today is the last week before the playoffs and there are still a few golfers with something to play for. In A flight, Bill has a win or tie for the 2nd half wrapped up, so he is guaranteed to face Jay in the finals. However, I’m currently 4 points out, so its possible I could squeak in if I can muster up 4 points (good luck). In B flight, Nick has all but won the 2nd half. He just needs 1 point to lock it up for a showdown against Mike (Lew) for the B flight championship. However if Nick doesn’t score 1 point and Steve manages 4, he’ll swoop in for the 2nd half win.

For the rest of you losers, you have nothing to play for except side bets and pride so go out there and get ’em! 🙂

    Golf League Updated

After the confusion of figuring out Jay’s “system” for marking up side bets, I still got it wrong. Sorry Bill, you did not win any skins last week. Maybe you should try to golf better. 38 is pretty good, but I think you can step it up. Anyway, you owe Jay, Steve, Mike, and I $1. Please have it delivered to Ohio ASAP.

As you can see, we had quite a good week last week posting our lowest league average this year. This continues the downward trend in scores as the year progresses. I guess golfing often really does help you play better. Just ask Nick!

Finally, Terry Connolly dropped his 3rd score, and 6 more golfers will drop a score after this week. Also 5 league players will be on vacation this week including me, so good luck and see you next week!

    Golf League Updated

Well, I spoke too soon. It looked like our golfing skill improved as the season had progressed, but we took a step back this week with the league average jumping 3 strokes from 44.4 last week to 47.4 this week. I guess we can blame it on the rain. Hopefully next week brings us better weather.

After 3 weeks A flight is still anybody’s to win, with 4 golfers tied for first and 2 golfers only 3 points behind. Mike T. had better get on the board soon before he gets left too far behind. As for B flight, it’s shaping up to be a 3-way battle as Steve, Nick, and Dale are all dominating with 10, 9, and 8 points respectively. Nathan, Mike L., and Jack aren’t out of it yet, but they had better step it up before its too late!

As a final note, Romas will not participate in B flight the 2nd half, so B now only has 6 golfers. If Jack is out of B flight as well, one A flight golfer may need to move to B flight. 2nd half points have been updated to reflect Romas leaving B flight, but more changes may be coming based on future potential changes.

Good luck, and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

Wow the weather is heating up, and so has everyone’s golfing. This week’s league average plummeted to 44.4, almost 3 strokes below the season average of 47.1, which continues a downward trend over the last 3 weeks. I guess we’re better in warm weather, or maybe just getting more practice helps. I was able to get out of a season long slump in a big way, which was needed to get myself back into the realm of respectability.

Finally, the last four golfers to play their 8th round of the year have dropped a 2nd score. With that, all prize money golfers have dropped 2 scores.

Good luck, and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

The 1st week of the 2nd half has officially started and there were a couple big scores. In A flight, Bill recorded his best round of the season (39), taking home 4 points by a slim margin from Terry, who shot his second best round (41). Neither could catch Steve though, who with his season tying best 45 easily took all B flight points and low net for the night.

Although Mike Trachsel’s up/down season continues (this week was down), he was able to take home the big hole #3 jackpot.

Finally several (8) golfers notched their 8th round of the year, and have therefore dropped a score. 4 more golfers have 7 rounds in the books and will be next to drop a score as well.

Good luck, and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

After a close race in both A and B flight, Jay Trachsel and Mike Lewandowski are the respective winners. Congratulations! Jay was able to overcome a 1 point deficit for the win, although it appears he tried to give it away with a triple and double bogey on hole #8 & #9. Luckily for him, Mike matched his futility and Terry was already too far behind. In B flight it wasn’t even close, as Mike Lewandowski cruised to an easy victory with his lowest raw score of the year. Nice job to both Jay and Mike!

Overall I think it was a great 1st half with 4 of 7 golfers in each flight having a chance to win in the last week. Hopefully we can have an equally competitive 2nd half!

Final note, 3 golfers dropped a score: Terry Connolly, Mike Trachsel, and Mike Lewandowski.

Good luck, and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

This is the last week of the 1st half and there are several contenders in both A and B flight. In A flight, Mike Trachsel holds a slim 1 point lead over Terry and Jay with Jeff close behind at only 2 points back. Meanwhile in B flight, Mike Lewandowski’s odds are a bit better with a 2.5 point lead over Jack and a 2 point lead over Nathan and Steve. There are 4 potential winners in each respective flight based on today’s outcome, good luck to those still in the race!

As of this morning, weather.com says 50-60% chance of scattered T-storms from 4-8pm. I hope its wrong as it usually seems to be since we have such a close race down the stretch. As always, we’ll play it by ear.

Good luck, and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

We’re winding down to the end of the first half, and points are tight in both leagues. Both Mikes — Lewandowski and Trachsel are trying to run away with their respective flights. However, someone is within 2 and 3 points respectively so the race is still close.

Barring any rainouts, our plan is to have 2 – 8 week halves, so there’s still time to make up for lost points!

Finally, there will be no golf next Monday (5/27) for Memorial Day, but we’ll resume the following Monday (6/3).

Good luck, and see you on the course!

    Golf League Updated

Wow, there were some low scores this week, too bad mine wasn’t one of them! There were two 37s shot by Mike T. and Matt V. Nice! The main difference was 6 strokes in HDCP which gave Matt the big edge in low net.

Please note there will be no golf next week due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Finally on a personal note, my family and I welcomed our second child into the world early Friday morning. Nicholas Daniel Burke was born on 5/17 at 3:33AM weighing in at 8lbs 12oz and 22″ long. Mommy and baby are both doing well, and little Matthew is still trying to figure it all out. The main indicator of just how well they’re all doing if you see me at golf or not! 🙂

Good luck, and see you on the course!
