    Presidents Message

The Tri V golf season ended August 12th, then the golf weekend in Jackson was on August 16th-18th followed by the Steak roast on August 24th (held at Jeff and Karen’s home) concluded the Tri V summer schedule. Its now time for back to school and the start of the Fall schedule. We kick off the Fall schedule with the September meeting at 6:00pm at the Perfect Score bowling alley. Please try to be on time as we will cover a number of events from the summer calendar. Committees remember to bring your event reports with copies for the officers. Fall event committees should be ready to talk about their upcoming events. After the meeting a number of members will begin the bowling season which we hope includes improved averages since the lanes are all new and our excuses have been taken away.

The Tri V golf season came to an end August 12th with a playoff between 1st half winner Bill Trachsel, 2nd half winner Dale Horst and the 2 seasonal high point getters Mike Trachsel and Jerry Whitefoot. Dale was able to beat eke out a win by over Mike by .4 points with a par on the last hole. Congratulations to Dale for a great winning the season championship. We also held a 2 man team low net the last night which was won by the team of Nick nd Brian. Thanks to everyone who braved the cold rain and heat all season.

    THE LARDINS

    THE LARDINS

As usual, Judy and John have been busy starting with celebrations of John’s 77th birthday, Texas Roadhouse with Mike, Bev and Alyssa, and friend Paul; then on actual birthday had ham sandwiches with Jacqui and Jack and John played golf with Brian; then day after birthday celebrated with a barbecue at Cashmans with Angelosantos, Schaefers, and friends Pete and Jan Thibault. The following day had dinner with 12 or 14 friends from our former St. Bernardine family. Mike and Bev played in a golf tournament supporting Autism on Sunday, August 11 so Judy had Alyssa who she had to take to birthday party and of course then shopping. On August 17 Judy and John went to Caesars in Windsor, spent a couple hours there but were each rewarded with collapsible Igloo cooler and water bottle. Of course the above does not include chemo every other week for John. John has also had an echocardiogram, dental work, seen podiatrist and is scheduled for carotid artery check up; pacemaker/defib checkup and cardiologist check up in August. John is also playing golf twice a week; Judy once a week. Judy had her physical and is scheduled for mammogram and bone density test the end of August. Judy also watched Alyssa during August as Bev was finishing teaching summer school, week off and then back to school preparations for new school year. Judy took Alyssa to soccer practice, basketball camp, piano lessons, etc. (Alyssa keeps extremely busy.) They are going to Caesars September 1 and 2 hoping to spend some time relaxing and enjoying the pool and spa. Judy also tries to visit neighbor in assisted living at least once a week; gets her mail and takes to her; pays her bills and picks up items she needs from home or store. Judy says she’ll finally get a break with school starting and hopes to get to the water aerobics 2-3 times per week at the Y. John says “we did all that”?

    Keep those prayers coming—they WORK!!

    GRANDPARENTS

With September being the month we celebrate Grandparents Day, we send this to our Grandmas in TRI-V.

Once upon a time there was child ready to be born. The child asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how as I going to live there being so small and helpless?” God replied, “Among the angels, I’ll choose one for you. Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”
The child further inquired, “But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.”
God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel the angel’s love and be very happy.”
Again the child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?”
God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words that you will ever hear, and with much patience and care your angel will teach you how to speak.”
I’ve heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?”
God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”
At the moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now please tell me my angel’s name.”
God replied, “Her name is not important. You will simply call her “GRANDMA.”

    SEPTEMBER MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2009 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Once again the month of Sept. was a good month for TRI-V members and extended family as there were no reports of anyone in need of our prayers. John Lardin is about 98% recovered from the soreness he has been suffering the last five weeks from his short fall. No more said about that. Ann Marie Angelosanto’s brother, Curtis Lipinski, is recovering slowly from his operation on his left leg. Judy Lardin joined Mike and Bev over the Labor Day Holiday with a trip to Illinois to visit Judy’s mom who turned 86 in April and son Brian had surgery for a torn meniscus and was playing golf 11 days after the surgery. John was finally getting his Father’s day present as son Larry and family were coming in from Texas for a week’s visit. The Angelosanto Family was headed to the west side of MI for a day at the Double JJ Ranch. As fate would have it for them, it rained and was cold for their entire stay. The rules and schedules were published for the 2009/2010 Tri-V Pinochle and the Oct. Stag event was set for Oct. 17 for an evening of whirly ball at the Novi Sports Arena, Novi. There were articles on the Wives weekend held the weekend of Aug. 28 in Alma with 12 women attending and Final Golf weekend of Aug. 28.

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2014 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Our prayers got out to Bob Kuhr on the loss of his brother who passed away from an apparent heart attack at the age of 64. And a special “Happy Birthday” to Art Trachsel who celebrated his 94 birthday on Sept. 16th. He is the oldest living member of Tri-V. The pinochle season is about to begin and the number of players continue to decrease. The Tri-V golf winners were A flight—Jay Trachsel; B flight—Matt Van Hollenbeke. The monthly Tri-V meeting will be on Tuesday evening at Drakeshire Lanes, Farmington. Final Golf was held the weekend of Aug. 15-17 in Gaylord, MI with 24 golfers making the trip. 26 people enjoyed the steak roast at Rotary Park in Livonia. Children’s Christmas party will be Dec. 14 at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena in Livonia. Judy and John had guests from Columbus, OH and (guests) have a condo in FL in same complex where Judy and John stay. Two guests participated in the Susan G. Komen 3 day, 60 mile walk. Ken Plocharczyk traveled to Denver to spend a week with his 7 year old granddaughter, Katy. As I prepare this article it brings back to mind what was written back in the memories of the Sep. 2004 issue that John Lardin was diagnosed in 1994 with a sugar problem and was told by the doctor that medication and weight loss should resolve the problem and eliminate continued use of the medication. Guess after ten years the “diet” John is on is not working and it might be wise for him to switch to a different one. Now it is 2014 another ten years later and 20 years since John was diagnosed with the sugar problem and again the damn diet he switched to in 2004 is still not working. Hopefully in ten years (2024) the “new” diet will be working. On the serious side are we sharing memories less and less with our family and friends? Let’s not wait until it is too late so please share a memory. Take the time to do it now. Maybe getting out some old pictures and talking about when they were taken might be a start. Until we see you in print next, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
