Presidents Message This summer seems to be flying…

    Presidents Message

This summer seems to be flying by with August upon us and Labor day fast approaching. The Tri V picnic at the end of June had a good turnout and the weather was great. The kids had a great time and the games were a hit again. Great job by the committee.
The Tri V golf season is winding down with the second half lead and top 2 point getters for the season up for grabs by a number of golfers. The season championship playoff is scheduled for August 12th.
The golf weekend (August 16-18th) plans have been finalized and we will be at the Hankard Inn near Jackson this year. Please contact Mike Trachsel ASAP if you plan on coming.
The weekend after final golf the last event of the summer is the Steak roast at Jeff and Karen’s home on Saturday August 24th.
The first Tri V meeting will be at The Drakeshire bowling alley (now called The Perfect Game) on September 10th at 6:00pm. Please try to be on time because of the large agenda we need to cover.
This is a reminder to the committees of upcoming events September Stage (Dale & Steve) and November social (Jack & Ryan) to begin planning. If you’re not sure of what committees you are on please check the Tri V web site or contact George Hoffman.

    MARK ELLIOTT MEMORIAL

    MARK ELLIOTT MEMORIAL

The memorial service for TRI-V Member Mark Elliott was held on June 8th at White Chapel Cemetery.

TRI-V Members attending were Nick and Vickie Angelosanto, Lee and Marian Anderson, Terry and Ellie Connolly, John and Judy Lardin, Brian and Jane Trachsel, Jay and Liz Trachsel and Ken and Kate Stress.

A few things we did not know about the Elliott Family were Mark Sr. set the school swim record in high school and in the 1942 Olympics that were cancelled because of the war and were still held privately by the Americans. Mark Sr. won the silver medal. He was beat out of the gold medal by Johnny Westmiller who later became Tarzan in the movies. Mark Jr. who was very quiet about his personal life is a different story. E worked for the Detroit Water System and was a 185 bowler and an 8 handicap golfer. What we did not know how good an athletic he was. In high school he broke the swim record that had been established by his dad years before. He was a catcher in baseball and did make it to the minor leagues. His wit and sense of humor will be missed. For those who knew him and were fortunate enough to be involved with him we were blessed.

    YOU WILL BE MISSED MARK.

    THE LARDINS

    THE LARDINS

July proved to be another busy month for Judy and John. John restarted his chemo every two weeks while Judy was golfing every Mon. morning with Jan Cashman in a Farming Hills league with an 8am tee time. Judy continues to take care of our 94 year neighbor who is in assisted living in Northville. Bev is teaching summer school so Tue., Wed. and Thur. Judy watches granddaughter Alyssa half the day. Of course Alyssa always wants a sleepover and go shopping. John has been able to play golf with TRI-V retires on Mon. and with another group of retires on Friday. Judy’s sister and niece were here for a long weekend and was an experience. They did make a couple trips to Caesars in Windsor to see David Foster, Chicago and Howie Mandel. Other than that we are doing little. Please continue your prayers for all in the TRI-V Family and friends as they are needed and do work.

    AUGUST MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE AUGUST 2009 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Esther Chamberlain was recuperating from a heart attack and will be moving to American House on Joy Rd., Westland. We are asked to remember her in your daily prayers. Bud Massoll has moved to his new residence in Brighton, MI. Judy and John Lardin continued their travels which included a meeting with a group of guys that John graduated with from high school. They are meeting in St. Joe, MI and then Judy panned for them to continue their journey to visit her Mom in Illinois for a few days. Donna and John Clingerman became grandparents for the first time when oldest daughter, Julie, gave birth to grandchild, Isabel, on July 6. The highlight of the newsletter was the trip Judy Lardin, Jacqui Schaefer, Judy’s sister-in-law Mary and Jacqui’s friend Dawn, made a quick decision to go to New York City for a week. The annual Tri-V Family Picnic was held on July 25 at Metalla Park, Wixom, with 50 adults and 20 children in attendance.

MEMORIES FROM THE AUGUST 2014 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

The highlight of this month’s issue was the Ladies getaway (nine women) on August 4 to Hankerd Inn Resort in Pleasant Lake. It was three days of a girl’s just enjoying their time together. The Tri-V picnic was held on July 13 at Rotary Park in Livonia with 35 adults and 15 children in attendance. The girl’s chipping contest, if you can believe, was won by Judy Lardin. Final golf is scheduled for Aug. 16-18 in Gaylord; the steak roast is set for August 23 at Rotary Park; children’s Christmas party is scheduled for Dec. 14 at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena. Congratulations to Jeff and Karen who became great grandparents on August 7. Our prayers go out to Karen Thrift’s father who is having heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. Judy Lardin has been kept busy watching granddaughter, Alyssa, as Beverly teaches summer school. John’s golf game was cut short because of back strain he suffered. Judy and John had three house guests from Ohio that were walking in the Susan G. Komen cancer walk. That wraps up another trip down memory lane as we enter the “lazy days of summer”. As you can tell, it was also a lazy day for sending in articles for the newsletter. If you can take the time to put things you are doing on Facebook and TRI-V website, while doing why not send the article for the newsletter also? Until we see you next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    Paper Issues

    Hello Everyone,

Sorry the paper has been screwed up the last couple months.

This latest edition should contain all the missing articles.

Please let me know if there are any still missing. As always, there is no need to wait for this email as everything is still visible online at trivclub.com.

Thanks for your patience and sorry for the mix-up.

    -Dave

P.S. A big thanks to the committee for the picnic. We had a great time, especially my kids! Matthew is still talking about how “he and dad” won the balloon toss. Thanks for a job well done!
