    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

The month of June started quietly as we celebrated granddaughter Alyssa’s ninth birthday but got hectic the end of the month. We started with picking Terry and Ellie Connolly the beginning of the month at 12:30AM and spending the night with us. That followed by being part of 14 TRI-Vers attending the memorial service for Mark Elliott. Then the fun started. On the 14th a lengthily meeting for John’s 60th class reunion next June then chemo finally started again on the 18th and disconnected on the 20th. On the 21st Judy and John took off for Corpus Christi TX to visit Larry, Kim and the grandkids returning on the 28th. The temp for the week was anywhere from a high of 88 to 97 with the heat index from 98 to 106. Much too hot for Judy and John. Jacob was on the Little League All Star team and did get to see him play in two games. Larry and John did get to play nine holes of golf with the temp 88 when they teed off at 9am. Judy and John were celebrating their 56 wedding anniversary on the 29th and John back on chemo July 1st. Other than the above, nothing going for us. Still asking all to please continue to remember John and all others of the TRI-V Family in your prayers. They do work

    JULY MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE JULY 2009 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

We start off the July 2009 issue of the TRI-V Umph with the members and extended family being healthier than the July 2004 issue. We are asked to remember in our prayers the family of Nick Angelosanto who suffered the loss of his sister Sally Layton on July 25th. Terry Connolly had a portion of his lower lip removed on June 16th. The sore turned out to be squalors cell cancer and the doctor got it all. On June 9th Karen Thrift had surgery on her right hand to relieve an arthritic thumb. They took out a bone and inserted a pin. Karlyn Gies daughter, Lisa, was in severe pain suffering from Bells Palsy and Lyme disease which required Karlyn to spend two weeks in PA helping Lisa and the family with her recovery. We ask you to remember them in your prayers. Congratulations go out to Sherry and Geoff Steinhauer on the birth of daughter, Alyssa on June 16th. Those travelling included Judy Lardin, Jacqui Schafer and two friends on a last minute five day trip to New York City. The TRI-V golf league had a three way tie between Romas Bliudzius, Dave Burke and Billy Trachsel at the half way point of the season. Final Golf was set for the weekend of Aug. 28th – 30th in Gaylord with accommodations at Ray’s Retreat Country Inn. There were 28 members and guests committed. The Tri-V Steak roast was set for Aug. 8th at Mettala Park, Wixom.

MEMORIES FROM THE JULY 2014 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Our prayers go out to Art Dushary and family. After 6 rounds of chemo we have bone back to Moffitt Cancer Center and Art’s cancer is in remission although he has one new lesion and they do know if it is cancerous. They want him to keep going to chemo to keep any new cells from forming. Because he was so run down they gave him a break for seven weeks to hopefully get him built up. August 21st Art will go back to Moffitt for another pet scan and go from there. Lee Anderson got lucky on a fishing trip on Lake St. Clair catching a 30 lb. Muskie, 49.3 inches long. Nick Angelosanto took his 1979 Z28 Camaro to his first car show in Ypsilanti. Channel 4 news used his car as a showcase in their news story. Ellie and Terry Connolly made their move to Ocala, FL on July 11th. Judy Lardin continues to keep busy as she watched granddaughter Alyssa while daughter-in-law Bev teaches summer school at Canton High School for five weeks. Judy Lardin, Karlyn Gies and Jan Cashman are golfing in a Monday morning league scramble. The first half of the TRI-V golf league ended on June 9th with Jay Trachsel winning the A flight and John Mackson taking the B flight. The Anniversary party was held June 27th at Joy Manor in Westland with 39 in attendance. The Tri-V picnic will be held on July 13 at Rotary Park in Livonia. The ladies getaway is scheduled for Aug. 4th-6th at Hankerd Inn Resort near Jackson, final golf is scheduled for Aug. 16th-18th in Gaylord, and the steak roast is scheduled for Aug. 23rd at Rotary Park in Livonia. The children’s Christmas party is scheduled for Dec. 14th at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena, Livonia. This wraps up another trip down memory lane. The cancer suffered by Terry Connolly in 2009 returned again this year and was hopefully once again removed for good. My personal prayers go out to little brother Nick on the loss of his sister Sally. Nick also lost his brother, Michael 18 years ago, both so young. Perhaps now is a good time for all of us to take a moment and reflect on family and friends that are suffering various ailments. Do not wait until it is too late. Like I continually tell friends, “Do not be ashamed to give that family member or friend a hug. The day will come when you will say “I wish I could give him one more hug”.” Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    Presidents Message

Our many teachers and all the kids are now out of school for the year and the summer weather seems to finally be here, thought it would never warm up.
The Tri V picnic planning is done and all fingers are crossed for a sunny day at Rotary Park this Sunday. We hope everyone can make it to the picnic for this wonderful family event.
The first half of Tri V golf ended Monday June 17th and a late makeup round by Brian helped Bill Trachsel beat out Matt V by ½ point to win the half. The 2nd half got off to a slow start with only 6 golfers playing in the afternoon.
Mike Trachsel has set up the final golf weekend for August 16th,17th,18th at the Hankard Inn north east of Jackson. Final details will be coming out soon.
The weekend after (August 24th) final golf the club steak roast will take place at Jeff and Karen’s home.
Everyone have a great summer and stay safe on all vacation travels.

Thanks you for all the well wishes foe Peggy. She fell on the island and broke her femur just above the artificial knee. The story of the trip to Huron Valley hosp. and repair surgery is unbelievable but true. see me at the picnic for the details. She is at Fox Run doing rehab. Non-weight bearing on the right (broken) leg for 6 weeks. Probably 6 month before being totally healed. The prayers and well wishes are much appreciated. YES, I probably should have initiated the calling list but did not think of it as my mind was working overtime on other issues. Again, Thanks and looking forward to seeing you at the picnic.

    Presidents Message

Reminder: on Saturday June 8th the memorial service for long time member Mark Elliott will be held. The information on the memorial is in the paper below.

Well the school year for the kids and our numerous teachers is quickly coming to an end and hopefully the weather will eventually reflect the calendar date. Despite all the rain Tri V golf has only been rained out 1 time as 1st half winds down. There are only 2 weeks left in the half and Matt V is leading Jeff by 1 point. The Tri V picnic is scheduled for June 30th at Rotary Park pavilion 3 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, I hope to see everyone there. From what I hear the golf weekend this year will be at the Hankard Inn near Jackson. Mike will be putting the details out shortly.
