    Presidents Message

The Anniversary party was held at the Wixom VFW on Apri14th and on April 28th the final marbles/pinochle party was held at the Cadiux Café. This wraps up the winter event season and it is on to warm weather (hopefully) events. I want to thank all the committees involved marble/pinochle, the anniversary party and final marbles for the hard work and planning that went into these events
The summer schedule has begun with the Tri V golf season starting on April 15th followed by the May open house on May 18th. Then in June the Tri V picnic is scheduled for the 30that Rotary park.
On a sad note long time member Mark Elliott passed away on Easter Sunday April 21st. A memorial time has not been scheduled at this time. I know all of Tri V sends their thoughts and prayers to Marks family.

    MAY MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE MAY 2009 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

We ask you to remember in your prayers Club Member Stan Reid. Stan passed away on April 12 at the age of 76. Many of our current members did not know Stan became a member in 1995 at the age of 60 and was sponsored by Bill Trachsel Sr. Many of our current Club members were not even around then. We also ask you to remember in your prayers Betty Galloway who has a blood disorder and has to have blood transfusions every so often and is still going through tests to find out what else is wrong; also to Nick Angelosanto who is having lots of new back pain and having a treatment at the Providence Pain Center the 5th of May. Congratulations were in order for John Mackson for being picked as the New Herald Newspaper “2009 High School Basketball dream Team Coach”. Once again Judy Lardin was off flying somewhere, this time to IL to be the Confirmation Sponsor for her great-niece while Vickie Angelosanto is going the first weekend in May to AZ to travel with her mom to MI. The Tri-V Anniversary Party was held at Maples of Novi on April 18 and upcoming events include May Open House on May 16 at Gateway Golf Course, Romulus, the Ladies May Dinner on May 20 at Bonefish Grill, Novi, the initiation of Dave Burke into the Tri-V family on June 5 at Walker’s Speakeasy, Dearborn Hts, the Tri-V family picnic on July 25 at Gunner Mettala Park, Wixom, the August Steak Roast on August 8 at Gunner Mettala Park, Wixom, the Tri-V Wives weekend Getaway on August 28 and 29 at Saravilla Bed & Breakfast, Alma and Final Golf the weekend of August 28-30 in Gaylord.
MEMORIES FROM THE MAY 2014 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
We welcome our two newest members, Dave Burke and Dale Horst, who were voted in at the April meeting. The initiation will be on Friday, June 6 at Drakeshire Lanes, Farmington Hills. The young guys, Mike, Steve, Dave and Matt V won the bowling championship in the Drakeshire Lane league. Congratulations to them. The ladies annual lunch is scheduled for June at Ellie Connolly’s home. The ladies getaway will be at Hankerd Inn Resort (bed and breakfast), Pleasant Lake, MI on Monday, August 4 thru Wednesday, August 6. The TRI-V Anniversary party is scheduled for June 27, more info to follow. The Tri-V picnic is scheduled for Sunday, July 13 at Rotary Park, Livonia. Final golf will be the weekend of Aug. 15-17 with reservations at Ray’s Retreat in Gaylord. The children’s Christmas party is scheduled for December 14 at Eddie Edgar Ice arena; more to follow. Judy and John Lardin ‘s return from Florida was short lived; she made arrangements to go to Illinois to assist her sister who is having both knees replaced in May followed by the graduation of her great niece the last weekend of May. Upon her return they will go to Corpus Christi, TX to visit Larry and family. The grandchildren keep asking “When are they coming to see us?” That wraps up another trip down memory lane. Each month I encourage all to share their memories with their family members and friends. With us just celebrating Mother’s Day and Father’s Day approaching take time to get to know Mom and Dad again if you are fortunate to have them around. Remember the song by Cat Stevens when he sings about the father who did not have time for his son and when his son became a man did not have the time for his dad that “He had grown up just like me.” Don’t let this happen to you with your Mom or Dad or Grandparents. Call on another, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Brother or sister just to say “Hello”. Maybe try and find the time to call an Aunt or Uncle or cousin that you have been out of touch with because Mom and Dad are no longer around. I think of what my father-in-law who I loved dearly always said “When I die just cremate me because the only reason for a funeral viewing is to see the relatives that you have not seen since the last funeral.” Don’t let your memories come to that. Take the time to share our good as well as sad/bad times with one another. Until next month when we see you in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    THE LARDINS

    THE LARDIN’S

Judy and John returned from Ft. Myers on April 3rd (Judy’s birthday) and have been on the run ever since. John had a cat scan and has not heard from the Drs. so guess no news is good news. He had been off chemo for three weeks so was a good time to have cataract surgery on his right eye and to be followed by the left eye on May 9th. It also allowed for him to have some necessary dental work. All this is necessary since he is on chemo he has to be off chemo three to four weeks before any type of surgery or dental work then an additional three to four weeks to make sure there is no infection. For most of you were able to read the update Judy sent out in April so you know how busy they have been. Future plans are a couple trips Caesar’s Windsor for couple of shows and a trip to Hillsdale to visit John’s uncle who is 96 years old and still lives by himself. In the mean time please continue with your prayers not only for John but all fellow TRI-V Member, their spouses and family. THEY DO WORK.

    MOTHERS DAY

FOR ALL MOTHERS AND GRANDMOTHERS ON MOTHERS DAY

We have printed this before but feel it is worth repeating with all the Mothers we have in TRI-V.

… And God Created A Mother

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when the angel appeared and said “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one…Six pairs of hands? No Way!”

“It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” said the Lord. “It’s the three pairs of eyes…one pair that sees through closed doors when she asks,”What are u kids doing in there?…Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know. And, of course, the ones here in the front that can look at a child who goofs up and says, “I understand and I love you.” without so much as uttering a word…”

The angel circled the model very slowly “It’s too soft,” she sighed.

“But tough!” said the Lord excitedly. You cannot imagine what this mother can do or endure.

    “Can it think?”

“Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise and dream,” said the Creator.

Finally the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek. “There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told you you were trying to put too much into the model.”

“It’s not a leak,” said the Lord. “It’s a tear.”

    “What’s it for?”

“It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride.”

“You’re a genius,” said the angel.

The Lord looked somber. “I didn’t put it there.”

    MARK ELLIOTT

    MARK ELLIOTT

Mark passed away on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, at 11:30pm at home. He had been in the hospital and returned on Good Friday, April 19th. He was initiated into TRI-V in 1988. His involvement in TRI-V was a regular bowler (average in the 180s) and golfing in the league (a low handicapper). Mark always had a smile on his face and had the one liner jokes that kept us laughing. He enjoyed joining us in February when the group went to Florida for a winter break and playing golf for five days. After his father passed away he was the escort with his Mom for pinochle and other TRI-V events. Mark had been confined to a wheel chair and oxygen for years and pretty much confined to home. He was embarrassed about his health condition and spent very little time out of his home. When he arrived at home on Friday he was so exhausted that his sister, Sandy who he lived with, had to call 911 to have the paramedics get him in the house and to his recliner. He spent most of the next two days asleep and his pain finally came to an end on Easter Sunday. I talked to Mark before he went into the hospital and the last thing he said to me was “I regret not being more active in TRI-V.”

    82nd TRI-V Anniversary Party article

The 82nd Anniversary Party was held at the VFW Hall on Loon Lake Road, Wixom on April 14, 2019 from 4-8pm. There was a total of 30 in attendance. The incoming President Jay Traschel and incoming Vice President George Hoffman each gave a speech on how honored they were to serve in these positions and looked foward to the coming year with great enthusiam. The hall tables were each beautifully decorated with clear glass cylinders containing lighted floating candles and cut flowers around the bases. This made for a very festive look. The food was a buffet catered by Bill’s Catering of Novi and it was delicious. There was chicken cordon bleu, pork tenderloin, roast beef, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, salda and cake for dessert. After dinner we were entertained by the Newburg Jam Trio for about an hour and half. Another wonderful Anniversary Party..
