MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2008 TRI-V UMPH
September 2008 was one of the few months that there was good news in our newsletter. Karlyn and Tim Gies spent the Labor Day Weekend at the new home of Diane and Kern Plocharczyk. Judy Lardin spent time in TX watching the two grandchildren while son Larry was in the process of opening his restaurant in Corpus Christi along with the problems that Kim’s brother-in-law was going through. The Steak Roast was held on August 9 at Mettala Park, Wixom. There were 36 in attendance and the low turnout was blamed on the bad weather that was predicted. The Girls Weekend was an overnight trip on Aug. 15 in DeWitt attended by 12 of the ladies while Final Golf was the weekend of Aug. 16-18 in Kendallville, IN attended by 24 of the men.
MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2013 TRI-V UMPH
The highlight of the September 2013 issue of TRI-V Umph was the birthday greeting to Art Trachsel on his 93rd birthday. The Tri-V golf season wrapped up the middle of August with Bill Trachsel winning A flight and Nick Angelosanto winning B flight. Final golf was held in Gaylord the middle of August with 27 golfers in attendance. The girls met on September 6 to celebrate Shirley Suchner’s birthday at Aubree’s in Northville. We also celebrated the super senior women of Tri-V—Marilyn Myers, Shirley Suchner, Onallee Trachsel, Dolores McMillan and Blondie Forsyth. The steak roast was held at Mettala Park in Wixom with 33 members in attendance. The rules were published for Tri-V pinochle that was scheduled to start the first Saturday in October. The girls weekend was scheduled for Sept. 24, 25 at Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids. John and Judy Lardin visited Judy’s uncle in Idaho; trip went well other than being hot. Of the four days they were there, the coolest high was 95 while the remaining three days 100 degrees with humidity. Judy and John started to make plans for a trip to Texas to celebrate granddaughter’s birthday. This wraps up another trip down memory lane. As you can see there was not much to report. It was a slow month. How many remember the blackout of 2003? Have you thought of sharing it with each other and other family members? How did you handle it? Perhaps your children might enjoy what happened. Speaking of the children, now that school has started and we see all the little ones, our kids, grandkids and neighbor kids making that trip to school for the first days, do you remember your first day at school or your own children’s first day? These are some of the memories we should share with our children and I am sure that many will not remember their days back or will not believe what you tell them. Write them down in a book and along with any pictures you might have and maybe include anything you remember about your grandchildren going. We all have stories that turn into memories. Don’t let them be lost. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
