MEMORIES FROM JULY 2008 ISSUE OF THE TRI-V UMPH
Most of the TRI-V family was in good health though some still needed our prayers. Art Trachsel ended up having total knee replacement on his right knee and was in a rehab/nursing facility. Nick Angelosanto’s Mom also had knee replacement. The knee operation seems to be fine but her body (heart) is in some distress from the operation. John Lardin has started his rehab following his heart attack on May 15 with 32 visits planned at Garden City Hospital and to Ryan Trachsel, son of Jeff, who was preparing for his second deployment to Iraq. The big event for the month was the marriage of Mike Lardin to Beverly Pritchard on the beach in Naples, FL on June 21. Those traveling r having out of town guests were the Schaefer’s having their daughter and two grandchildren in August from Japan, the Clingerman’s having their two daughters and husband and Donna’s mother in for a nice family reunion the Lardin’s having Judy’s Mom and sister in from IL to celebrate Mike and Bev’s wedding. John Mackson worked the five star basketball camp at Lewis University in IL while Robyn and the kids hung out with Christina Bliudzius. The Gies traveled to Myrtle Beach SC to celebrate the Gies’ family reunion. The Tri-V Picnic was set for July 27 at Mettala Park, Wixom, while the steak roast was set for Aug. 9 also at Mettala Park, Wixom. The Wives Woman Outing was set for an overnight stay at the “House in the Woods”, Dewitt MI on Aug. 15 while Men’s Final Golf was set for the weekend of Aug. 16-18 at Kendallville IN.
MEMORIES FROM JULY 2013 ISSUE OF THE TRI-V UMPH
There was a special thank you from Blondie Forsyth for the great 76th Anniversary Party.
All the entertainment at the party brought back a log of memories. Mike and Kristen Trachsel celebrated their marriage at a small family wedding on June 29. Judy was finally able to sell her mom’s house in Illinois after being on the market for a year. Judy and John Lardin were celebrating their 50th anniversary on the 29 of June. Jan and Cal Cashman did make dinner arrangements at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate with Judy and John. Judy and John were surprised to see the Schafers; Angelosantos, Gies, Kuhrs, and Connollys. Son, Brian, had a surprise breakfast after church on Sunday at Fox Hills in Plymouth and they were surprised to see Johnnie and family, Mike and family, along with John’s sister Mary and Judy’s sister-in-law Pat along with her husband (Warren)—a few of you will get that one. John and Judy were able to make a trip to Idaho in August meeting up with all of Judy’s cousins to visit her Uncle Milton (her mother’s youngest brother, only surviving sibling of five). The final anniversary celebration for Judy and John was on Monday, July 8 when the Schaefers treated the Lardins to a ham sandwich at Mikes Famous Ham Sandwich in Detroit at Michigan and West Grand Blvd. They took the scenic tour back home and Jacqui said I’ve had enough, let’s get on the expressway and head home.
The Tri-V picnic is scheduled for July 13 at Heritage Park, Farmington Hills. The Tri-V Ladies annual swim is scheduled for July 17 at the home of Blondie Forsyth. Final Golf is scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 16-18 in Gaylord. The steak roast is set for August 31 at Metalla Park, Wixom. The girl’s weekend will be Sept. 24 and 25 at Meijer’s Gardens in Grand Rapids. The 76th Anniversary party was held June 21 at the luxurious Wayne Amvets Post in Westland; there were 33 in attendance.
This wraps up another trip down memory lane. With the burning of the Boblo Boat this week, now is a good time for us “old” people to think of some of our summer memories.
Remember those trips to Kensington Metro Park for swimming and family picnics? I do especially the ride there and back on Grand River, two lanes plus a center turn lane, heavy traffic and trying to pass the car in front of you. Maybe it was your first baseball game to see the Tigers at Tiger Stadium or if old enough to Briggs Stadium or maybe a trip to Belle Isle to have that picnic, swim in the Detroit River or ride a canoe in the canal. Such good memories and most of the time a special treat as not everyone had access to a car when wanted. How about those hot nights with no air condition that we all survived by maybe sleeping on the porch or in a tent in the backyard. Will not say that we have gotten spoiled, or have we? There has to be a log of memories to share with each other. Life is good, let’s continue to share our memories. Until we you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
