FOR ALL MOTHERS AND GRANDMOTHERS ON MOTHERS DAY
We have printed this before but feel it is worth repeating with all the new Mothers we have in TRI-V the last couple of years.
… And God Created A Mother
When the Good Lord was creating mothers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when the angel appeared and said “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one…Six pairs of hands? No Way!”
“It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” said the Lord. “It’s the three pairs of eyes…one pair that sees through closed doors when she asks,”What are u kids doing in there?…Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know. And, of course, the ones here in the front that can look at a child who goofs up and says, “I understand and I love you.” without so much as uttering a word…”
The angel circled the model very slowly “It’s too soft,” she sighed.
“But tough!” said the Lord excitedly. You cannot imagine what this mother can do or endure.
“Can it think?”
“Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise and dream,” said the Creator.
Finally the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek. “There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told you you were trying to put too much into the model.”
“It’s not a leak,” said the Lord. “It’s a tear.”
“What’s it for?”
“It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride.”
“You’re a genius,” said the angel.
The Lord looked somber. “I didn’t put it there.”
MEMORIES FROM THE MAY 2008 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
The month of May, 2008, issue of the Tri-V Umph was a more friendly issue to read as all seemed to be in good health. There were more articles about the different events than the comings and goings of Club Members. Bob and Peg Wendt had Bill and Shirley Suchner visiting them for a three day visit. Kathy and Art Dushary were getting their new home in Ocala FL fixed up for the following year while daughters Carol moving to Vero Beach FL making both daughters close to Bob and Peg. This was Art’s first year of full retirement and he’s put his home in Michigan on the market. Andrea Trachsel, daughter of Jeff Trachsel had completed her studies at Schoolcraft College, Livonia, and was preparing to start the nursing program at Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn, in the fall. Son Ryan was in the California desert on training maneuvers for his stint back in Iraq. Final Pinochle was held on April 5th at the AM Vets Hall in Westland. There was an open bar and socializing followed with a buffet dinner than a TRI-V version of Jeopardy with the winning team comprising of Bud Massoll, Romas Bliudzius, Tom and Bonnie Untener, Terry and Ellie Connolly and Nick and Victoria Angelosanto. Upcoming listed events included May Open House at Gateway Golf Club, Romulus, on May 10, the initiation of Steve Trachsel on June 6 at the Speakeasy, Dearborn Heights, the annual TRI-V Family Picnic on July 27 at Gunnar Mettala Park, Wixom, the annual TRI-V Steak Roast on August 9, also at Mettala Park, Wixom and lastly Final Golf the weekend of August 16 through August 18 at Kendallville, IN. Other non Tri-V functions included a trip to Eastern Market on May 10 for flower day and lunch arranged by Marian Anderson, the Shower of Love Baby Charity shower sponsored by Sophia Ayotte’s daughter, Carolyn Hasselwood, on May 8 at Monaghan K of C, Livonia and a trip to Branson MO on America by Rail with a group of fellow Tri-V members.
MEMORIES FROM THE MAY 2013 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
There were very few trifles in the May 2013 issue to report. In fact the only trifle was the southern journey by Bob and Sherry Kuhr, their trip included visits with Art and Kathie Dushary, playing cards and board games with the whole family, and spending time relaxing with the Clingerman’s in South Carolina.
The 2013 Tri-V election was held on March 13 and the new officers were President Bill Trachsel, Vice President Steve Trachsel, Treasurer Mike Trachsel and Secretary Matt VanHollebeke. Elected to the council were Dion Angelosanto, Bob Kuhr and Ken Stress.
Final Pinochle was held on April 20 at Leon’s in Wixom. There were 17 members and 16 guests in attendance. The first place winner was Jane Trachsel who was not present to accept the first place plaque as she was visiting her Aunt and casino in Indiana.
Upcoming events included May Open House is scheduled for May 11 at Brentwood Golf Course, White Lake; the Ladies May dinner on May 18 at the Paratheon Restaurant, Novi; the Tri-V Picnic on July 13 at Heritage Park, Farmington; the 2013 Anniversary party on June 21 at the capital AM Vets Hall, Westland; and finally the Kid’s Christmas party on Sunday, December 8.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our mothers and grandmothers a Happy Mother’s Day. Speaking of Grandmothers they have to remember that they have to spoil their grandchildren. It’s a grandparent’s right and responsibility as well as a grandchild’s expectation. Speaking of grandparents we all know the power of a strong handshake but remember that one of the most powerful handclasps is that of a new grandbaby around the finger of a grandfather. Our children and grandchildren grow up so fast. We have memories of our childhood with our grandparents. Share these memories with our children and grandchildren. We take time to discuss the daily happenings going on in our lives, take the time to share some of the memories also. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
JOHN LARDIN UPDATE
As reported last month the weather in Florida this year had to be the best in the over 10 years we have been going and the return trip back to Michigan was also one of the best trips back. On the return John has a cat scan and saw the cancer Dr. and the heart Dr. The cat can showed that the tumor had decreased from 21cm. in April. He had his defibrillator checked and no reported incidents. The heart Dr. gave John and ekg and all reports were good. Next trip was to the hip Dr. to replace the left hip which is giving John more and more pain. Bottom line is chemo and heart Drs. gave the ok for the hip surgery. Originally hip Dr. wanted to replace hip on May 6th but Judy said too much going on so replacement is scheduled for June 4th at Botsford (Beaumont) Hospital. The bad side of all the above is the last chemo treatment was April 11th in Florida and cannot get treatment until six weeks after the hip surgery. Hopefully will not have a negative effect on the tumor. Before the surgery Judy, Vickie, Jacquie, Marion and Kate will be making an overnight trip to Shipsapwana Indiana and Judy and John will be making a long weekend trip to visit family in Texas. Speaking of Texas, Larry and Kim purchased a home in a suburb of Corpus Christi. A four bedroom, 2700 square feet, half acre of land which gives Judy and John their bedroom back. Other than that nothing exciting happening..I continue to thank you for your prayers and please continue them not only for me but the rest of the TRI-V Family in need of them as well as family and friends.
The Tri V golf season got underway 2 weeks late but the weather has cooperated as of late. The early leader in points is Shaun Lotter. We still have a few people who golf early afternoon most Mondays so if you would like to join either the early group or the 4:30 group drop in. For the early group contact either Nick or Brian to see if and when they are golfing.

On June 2nd from 7:30 till 9:00 we will be entertained at ComedySportz Detroit.
This is the event for Final Marbles that we discussed at the last meeting.
ComedySportz Detroit is a improvisational theatre in Ferndale, MI. Two teams will stand off against each other performing on the spot based off suggestions from the audience. Then at the end the audience will select the winner.
I have confirmed for 20 adults at this time.
The thought would be to meet in Ferndale for dinner on our own and then meet up at the theatre for the show.
The address is 1100 Woodward Heights, Ferndale, MI 48220.
248-721-8024 is the phone number.
Please RSVP to Matt Hoffman so we could get a final count.
Looks like it will be a fun, easy and relaxing evening.
Cost for the show is $15/person.
Dinner (if you care to join – location TBD) will be on your own.
Regards,
Matt Hoffman
