MEMORIES FROM THE APRIL 2008 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
One of the unpleasant things of doing the Memories is when I have to tell of one of the passing of long time Club member Lu Wagner. Lu was a member of Tri-V for 69 years joining in September 1939. He was President for three terms, Vice-President for three terms, Secretary for one term, Treasurer for one term and a member of the members reporting of their travels. We start with Vickie Angelosanto going to Arizona May 6-14 to spend time with her Mom and sisters, Ellie and Terry Connolly the end of February and month of March in Ft. Myers, FL, Donna and John Clingerman a fun two weeks down the Atlantic coast visiting Charleston, SC, Savannah, St. Simons Island and Jacksonville, Fl hoping there they might like to retire, Karlyn and Tim Gies the month of March exploring 55+ communities and Judy and John Lardin time in Corpus Christi TX and then to IL for Easter with Mom. The Michigan Anniversary Party was attended by 40 Tri-V members, spouses and guests and we welcomed our newest prospective Dave Burke. Upcoming events included the golf league starting April 21 at Hickory Hills, Wixom, May Open House on May 10 at Gateway Golf Club, Romulus, June Initiation/Social on June 6th at Walters Speakeasy, Redford, Eastern Market Bus Trip on May 10 for spring flowers, the Tri-V Picnic on July 26th at Metalla Park, Wixom and finally the Tri-V Steak Roast on Aug. 9 at Mettala Park, Wixom.
MEMORIES FROM THE APRIL 2013 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
As you read this Judy and John Lardin will be returning North. Every year it gets harder and harder as John would stay much longer. When we arrive back in MI Judy will have the chore of selling her mom’s home in Illinois. A few have looked at the house but no offers have been made. Judy is prepared to drop the price for a second time. Judy and her sister just want to be relieved of the responsibility involved with the house. On the bright side daughter-in-law Kim in Corpus Christi has finished her student teaching and will get pinned on May 5 and is preparing to enter the job market. While in FL, son Larry, had to come to Orlando for some training with his job at Red Lobster and Judy and John were able to spend the night with him in Orlando. Grandchildren Christine and Jacob cried saying “it’s not fair to see Grandpa and Grandma” and they could not. They have the FL condo already set for next winter and Judy’s last words to John were “I’m ready to go home”. Obviously Judy misses her family and friends when in Florida.
The Tri-V golf season is scheduled to start April 15 at Hickory Hills Golf Course, Wixom, the ladies May dinner is scheduled for May 18 at the Parthenon, Novi, and the Anniversary party has been changed to June 21st due to scheduling conflicts. The party will be held at the Am Vets Hall, Westland. This wraps up another trip down Memory Lane. It is nice to see that Jane Trachsel is always near the top (except in 2003 when she was John Lardin’s partner) coming in first place for Pinochle. After 11 grandchildren it is good to see Judy Lardin knows all the secrets to being a “Grandma” and can make anything go away. Just ask “Grandmas.” After much research and time trying to decide where to retire we now know that Donna and John Clingerman settled for Bluffton South Carolina and Karlyn and Tim Gies settled for North Fort Myers, FL. Take the time to share your memories, your thoughts, with your children, parents, family members as well as friends. Give the grandchildren a chance to ask “Grandma did Mommy or Daddy really do that when they were our age?” Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably and NEVER regret anything that made you smile. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
