    March President’s Message

Winter appears to be finally wrapping up. There have been a few late snow flurries and some colds days to remind us not to put the winter gear away just yet, but there are enough signs pointing to spring at last. The bowling season is almost over and the two Tri-V based teams are hanging around in the standings. It may be a long shot for either team, but there is still a chance. The golf schedule is being finalized as we set to tee off next month. Marbles and pinochle have concluded and we look forward to a final Pinochle/marbles event to crown the champions. After a few long months of hibernation, I look forward to some outdoor activities.
At the March meeting we will be nominating at voting on three new council members. If you are not going to be at the meeting but would like to volunteer to be on the council please let me know before Tuesday.

    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

The month of Feb. is long gone but has been the warmest Florida has ever had. Starting with Feb. 5th through March 2nd our high temp was 81 for one day and the rest of the month in the mid 80s and hitting 90 twice. March has started out with the temps in the mid to high 70s so far. Busy the whole month with the Cashmans, Andersons an Angelosanto (for 11 days.) My chemo treatment was switched a week later because the blood plate was so low. This has caused our return scheduled home to possibly change from the first week of April to the second week. Still have plans to get left hip replaced upon our return. Judy was in her glory flying home to pick up Alyssa for six days and when she returned her home she dropped her off at Metro Airport and got back on a plane six hours to return back to Ft. Myers. She is a trooper. Hard to imagine it is March 10th already and in a month being back in MI. This wraps up another info report on our comings and goings. Overall health has been good. Please, please continue with your prayers not only for me but all your family, friends and fellow TRI-V Members. THANK YOU JOHN

MEMORIES FROM THE MARCH 2008 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Once again we had a good month with the only one reported being in need of our prayers was loveable Blondie Forsyth. I will quote the article “Blondie is having a hammer toe operation on March 12 at Botsford Hospital. Straight and to the point, told like it is. Please pray for Blondie. The rest of the newsletter was reports on the coming and goings and happenings to Club Members. We start with Peg and George Hoffman who had recently purchased a park model trailer in N. Ford Myers, FL, Bob Kuhr retired since the end of Dec. and his retirement keeping him busy with tennis twice a week, bridge twice a week as well as some charity work. Then we have Diane Plocharczyk who was in Tampa FL the end of Feb. for a work related meeting and also the recipient of a performance trip to the Mayan Rivera in Mexico and finally Vickie, Judy, Nick and John on their eight day trip to Cancun Mexico. Upon their return from Mexico Judy and John taking off to Corpus Christi TX for a week to visit son Larry and family and finally Sue and Terry Dunham made a trip to Washington DC the end of February and visited most of the landmarks in Washington as well as Mount Vernon and Williamsburg. Tri-V Women were invited to join Marin Anderson on May 10 for a trip to Eastern Market by bus for the annual Flower Day, lunch and if interested a casino visit. The Steak Roast was set for Aug. 8 at Gunnar Metalla Park, Wixom. The February Social at the Detroit Institute of Arts was attended by 31 Tri-V members and guest followed by dinner at McNally’s Restaurant on Woodward in downtown Detroit.

MEMORIES FROM THE MARCH 2013 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

It is with sadness that we report the loss of Babs Wagner on March 4 in Novi, MI at the age of 94. She was a former wife of Tri-V member Lu Wagner. Our prayers go out to her family. Our prayers go out to Art Trachsel who fell and broke his wrist last week and fractured it in at least three places.

The month of February is busy for the Lardin’s with good weather when Jack and Nick visited the first part of the month, and when Mike, Bev and Alyssa visiting the middle of the month. The weather was not pool friendly when niece and older son John, were there the end of the month. Judy left on March 6 to attend the memorial for Babs and John left on the 8th to celebrate granddaughter Bella’s 10th birthday. Both returned to Florida on March 10. They plan to return to MI on or about April 7 and hope to see all at Final Pinochle.

Shirley Suchner will be leaving FL on March 28 permanently. After her and Bill were snowbirds for 27 years she has decided with the passing of Bill she wants to be closer to the family in Michigan.

Upcoming events include The Tri-V 2013 golf season will start April 15 at Hickory Hills Golf Course, Wixom, Final Pinochle on April 20 at Leon’s of Wixom, May Open House on May 11 at Brentwood Golf Course, White Lake, the Anniversary Party scheduled for June 22 location TBD, and final golf the weekend of Aug. 16-18 in Gaylord at Ray’s Retreat. The Family event was held at Drakeshire Lanes on March 10 with 24 in attendance.

Final Pinochle standings had Jane Trachsel in first place with 156 points, Romas Bliudzius in second place with 143.5 points, and Mike Trachsel in third place with 130 points.

Not a whole lot to report once again. A few observations, the 1998 Anniversary Issue of Tri-V Umph did not have any anniversary greetings; the 2003 issue had 9 greetings while the 2008 issue had one anniversary greeting. Hopefully the June 2013 issue when we will be celebrating our Anniversary will have more greetings. 2008 Judy and John Lardin had one grandchild, March 2013 Judy and John Lardin have 11 grandchildren. Guess the boys finally got it right. Easter will soon be upon as we read this issue. This is the earliest it has been in a long time. Many of us will take the time to reflect on what the Easter Season means and hopefully we have fond memories from this period of time. I can remember as a child making a trip to Sears at Grandriver and Oakman or Monkey Wards, as we called it, to shop for Easter clothes. What about the family get-togethers for dinner and maybe and Easter Egg hunt or the chocolate bunnies that our parents let us have. Take the time to tell your children and grandchildren about your Easter. I am sure all of us have a few stories we can tell. Until we see you next month in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    Tri V 2018 Golf The 2018Tri V golf…

    Tri V 2018 Golf

The 2018Tri V golf season will begin on Monday April 9th at 4:30pm at the Hickory Hill golf course in Wixom. The last night of golf will be August 15.
We will use a 100% handicap system again this year. There will be 2 halves but only 1 flight and the amount of points per night will be determined by the number of people that sign up to be in prize money. Each half will be 8 nights with the 17th night used as a playoff between the winners of each half and the next 2 highest point winners for the season.
The cost to get into the prize money for the season will be $30 per half.
Those who do not want to pay into the prize money can still join us for golf and can get into any daily jackpots if they choose to.
Please let the committee know asap by either link below if you plan on getting into the prize money so the number of points per night can be set before the 1st night of golf.
Committee: Jay Trachsel trachseljay@att.net , Dave Burke d1burke@hotmail.com

    Marilyn Myers new address

Marilyn has moved closer to family here in Michigan. Son, Joe, said she is still living independently, but dementia is stealing her memory.
5601 Hatchery Rd., Apt. 106, Waterford, MI 48327
    (248) 622-3011

Shirley Suchner’s address is 27000 Dixboro Rd, South Lyon, MI 48178

I’m sure both ladies would enjoy a note or Easter card. I would suggest adding Tri-V next to your name.
