Tri V Council Party The Tri V Council…

    Tri V Council Party

The Tri V Council Party was held on Saturday January 13th at The Roseland Curling Center in Windsor. We arrived at 4 pm to get our curling shoes ready and pick teams. We had 12 curlers and 4 people watched from the bar dining room. At 4:30 we were giving curling instructions and the games were underway. The first game was rather a dismal curling display but everyone got better was the games progressed. We curled from 4:30 to 6:30 and ultimately the team of Michelle, Jay, Brian, Amber, Matt and Cristine Hoffman defeated Bill, Mike Steve, Nick, Liz and Kristin. We moved upstairs to the bar to applause of our fans. Dinner was preordered the food arrived soon after we all found our seats.
The evening was fun the curlers had a good time and no one got hurt although there were 2 minor falls. The cost of curling was covered by the budget and with the exchange rate we were able to give non curlers money toward their food. Everyone paid for their own meals and drinks. Amazingly enough this was another event that came out on budget.

    In attendance: Jay&Liz Trachsel, Brian&Jane Trachsel, Mike&Kristin Trachsel, Steve&Amber Trachsel, Bill&Michelle Trachsel, Nick& Vicki, Mattt& Christine Hoffman, George&Peggy Hoffman

    Budget $175.00 US = $211.00 Canadian
    Curling 2 hours $140.00 plus $25.00 instructional fee= $165 Canadian
    Total Dinner reimbursement for non-curlers $46.00 Canadian. = $211.00

    Committee: Jay Trachsel, George Hoffman

    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

As you read this issue of the TRI-V Umph Judy and John Lardin will finally be in Ft. Myers Fl. Their trip was delayed one week because of John’s chemo schedule. The good news to report is the cat scan taken in Aug. showed the tumor at 2.5 cm and the Dec. cat scan showed a reduction of the tumor at 2.1 cm. A sign what the Drs. are doing is working and the PRAYERS DO WORK. The week delay will allow Judy and John to spend a night at Caesars in Windsor before departing for Fl. His next scheduled chemo treatment is Mon., Jan. 8th and the disconnect on Wed., Jan. 10th. Plans are to leave on Wed. after the disconnect and arrive in Ft. Myers sometime on Fri. the 12th. Hoping all have had a great Holiday Season and see all when we return sometime in April. Please keep the prayers coming not only for me but all our family, TRI-V Family and friends that are in need of them.

MEMORIES FROM THE JANUARY 2008 ISSUE of TRI-V Umph

MEMORIES FROM THE JANUARY 2008 ISSUE of TRI-V Umph

All TRI-V Members seemed to be in pretty good health though there are a few of the extended family we remembered in our prayers. We had Kirk Trachsel, son of Art and sister of Diane Plocharczyk, who was still recovering from his accident that it seems happened ages ago and to Jamie Forsyth, granddaughter of Blondie, who had successful kidney and pancreas transplant surgery. Newest

Retirees were Bob Kuhr on Dec. 21st and Art Dushary the end of January. Upon Art’s retirement they have moved to their Florida home in Ocala, Florida. Cal Cashman’s daughter, Kelly and her family came up from Franklin, TN to spend the Christmas Holidays with Cal and Jan. Judy and John Lardin shared their whirlwind trip to IL and Branson MO over the Thanksgiving Holiday with her Mom. The Tri-V Anniversary Party was scheduled for March 15th at the Maples, Novi and the Florida Anniversary Party was scheduled for early March at the Roaring 20s in Ellenton, FL. Pinochle standings through Jan. play had Jeff Trachsel in first place with 96.5 points, Brian Trachsel in second place with 91.5 points and Dion Angelosanto in third place with 88 points.

MEMORIES FROM THE JANUARY 2013 ISSUE of TRI-V Umph

Our prayers go out to Art Trachsel. Art fell in his apartment on Dec. 14 and severely sprained his left upper arm. Besides a trip to ER he’s had a home health care nurse coming to his apartment several times a week to inspect the wound and change the dressing. It has taken over a month but he is almost healed. In addition he is getting physical therapy to help with balance and strength issues. Good news for Kathy Dushary; she had her 6 week check-up with a clean bill of health from the oncologist. She just has to get semi-annual check-ups for the next two years. On the other hand, the results of Art’s biopsy revealed that he has kidney cancer. The cancer runs from the lower part of the right kidney and the upper part of the tube from the kidney to the bladder. So the kidney and tube will be removed in January. The good news is that the cancer is contained and the surgery should be the only treatment needed.

Judy and John Lardin arrived in Ft. Myers, FL the first week of January. They survived the trip to Corpus Christi, TX in December. The trip was much better than the trip in October. Larry and John planned a round of golf but the temp Sunday afternoon was in the mid 80’s and on Monday the high was 45 with 30 plus miles wind. Only in Texas can the weather change this much in one day.

The Tri-V Council party will be held at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Jan. 19th followed by dinner at the Traffic Jam and Snug restaurant located in midtown
    Detroit.

The Tri-V Wives celebrated their Christmas luncheon on December 16th with lunch at Rocky’s in Northville. There were 16 in attendance.

The Children’s Christmas party was on Dec. 17th with 41 adults and 23 children attending. The party was held at the Garden City Museum. An Ugly Sweater contest was held for the first time; Judy Lardin was the winner. Victoria and Dominic Angelosanto hosted January pinochle. Robyn and John Mackson tied for first place with 27.5 points; and Nick coming in third with 22.5 points.

The Tri-V Committee assignments for 2013 were published along with an article pertaining to the upcoming election to be held at the March meeting.

Pinochle standings through January had Jane Trachsel in first place with 102 points, Terry Connolly in second place with 92.5 points and Mike Trachsel in third place with 88 points.

This wraps up another trip down memory lane. Hopefully all had a wonderful and Merry Christmas and the New Year is better for you than 2017. With Christmas just ending, now is the time to share that special moment that happened over the Holiday. These will become our memories to share in future years. Don’t let them get lost. These memories are precious to all.

For the next three months you will be receiving the memories from Florida and for those still here in the north please stay warm. Until we see you next month in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    Marbles at the Angelosanto Home

Marbles at the Angelosanto home was lots of fun. We hosted 12 adults and 9 children. Jay & Liz, Mike & Kristin (Benjamin, Maddie, Jonathan), Steve & Amber (Laney, Lena), Dave & Kim (Matthew, Nicholas), Matt & Christine (Timothy, Abigail). The youngest of the group were all, so well behaved. Congratulations to their parents. We were warned that the parents might be a little too rambunctious for our taste, but surprisingly they behaved, also.
There was enough mac and cheese to feed an army and thank goodness many of the guests took some home. Nicholas was extremely happy about that.
The future of Tri-V looks bright.
