    October Stag Party

Friday, October 13th Tri-V will be hosting glow golf at Hickory Hill Golf Course http://www.hickory-hill-golf.com. We are hoping to do a 9 hole night scramble (team sizes will be based on participation). You will only need to bring clubs and beverages. Glow balls and other items will be included in your cost. Feel free to invite guests as we should be able to accommodate up to 36 guys. Please plan to arrive around 6:30pm, as we would like to do a shotgun start before 7:00pm. The course would like us to walk, but would allow us to have a few carts for those who feel they can not walk. The $35.00 cost will include your round, glow balls, glow sticks for the course and prize money. Please email Steve Trachsel (trach1s@hotmail.com) or text (586)850-0161 before October 6th if you are interested.

    Pinochle

    TRI-V PINOCHLE 2017-2018

Pinochle for the season will start on Sunday, October 15. Pinochle will be played on the third Sunday of the month, unless notified. We will be playing in individual homes.

    1. Starting time will be 3:30 p.m., with cards starting at 4:00 p.m. The host will collect and keep $2.00 per guest. The host provides cards, ice and snacks. Guests are to bring their own drinks and a dish to share for the evening.

    2. Each host will receive tallies and schedules. Hosts will number the tallies. All players will draw from the same group of numbered tallies. Your partner may be a man or woman. The number of your tally will coincide with the schedule. The schedule provides information on partners and tables. Each player will play six games. Make sure your name is on the tally. Put your partner’s number on the tally for each round. This is for checking scores, if necessary.

    3. Reneges should always be corrected if possible. If unable to correct and the bidding team is guilty, the bidder is set. If unable to correct and the renege is not made by the bidding team, then the bid is automatically made.

    4. The prize money will be based on the number of couples playing that evening. $3.00 PRIZE money will be collected from ALL players. Prize money will be distributed at the end of the evening.

    5. If a hand is opened, re-bidding is allowed. Bidding ends when three (3) consecutive passes have been made AFTER the last bid. If you pass, you may re-enter the bidding. For example, you may wish to give your partner a meld bid, if he bids after you have already passed.

    6. Guests who cannot play must, give three days notice to Jacqui or Vickie.

    7. Please notify the committee NOT the host if you need a sub

We are looking forward to a fun year!

    J LARDIN UPDATE

    J LARDIN UPDATE

Things continue to improve for John. He continues on his chemo treatment every two weeks. The Dr. was finally able to give him some medicine to hopefully relieve the numbness and cold he has been suffering the last year. His latest echocardiogram and EKG showed his heart rate and lungs clear. The heart Dr. on a scale of 1 to10 rated his heart at close to a 7. GOOD NEWS. The latest opinion from the cancer Dr. is the tumor has shrunk a little since his cat scan in April. Besides several trips to the Casino, travel plans are a trip to Corpus Christi TX to celebrate granddaughter’s Christine 13th birthday.Judy and John have been fortunate to never missed Christine’s birthday in TX. I thank all for your continued prayers. They do work.

    GRANDPAENTS DAY

With September being the month we celebrate Grandparents Day we send this of our Grandmas in TRI-V.

Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. The child asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”

God replied, “Among the angels, I’ll choose one for you. Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”

The child further inquired, “But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.”

God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel the angel’s love and be very happy.”

Again the child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?”

God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words that you will ever hear, and with much patience and care your angel will teach you how to speak.”

I’ve heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?”

God said, “Your angel will defend you even it means risking its life.”

At the moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now please tell me my angel’s name.”

God replied, “Her name is not important. You will simple call her “GRANDMA.”

    SEPTEMBER MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2007 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

We continue to remember those in the TRI-V Family as well as the extended family with our prayers. Victoria Battel, mother of Vickie Angelosanto, was admitted to the hospital when her temp went to 104. A chest x-ray showed she had pneumonia and she spent three days in the hospital before being released to the care of her daughters. George Hoffman’s surgery for Aug. 30th was cancelled and rescheduled for Sep. 17th due to a state of dehydration. He was admitted to hospital where he received IV and drinks for a day and was released to go home. Terry Dunham is still recovering from his shoulder surgery in Tenn. While Mike Lardin suffered cartilage damage and arthroscopic surgery was scheduled for Sep. 13th at Botsford Hospital. Peg Wendt lost her speech on May 18th when she had her last ITA (mini stroke). With speech therapy this summer it is coming back. She is also able to maneuver the walker okay in the house. When the Wendts return to FL on Sep. 8th they will be selling their home and moving into a retirement home. People on the move included the Macksons to New York for a week by train while Tim and Karlyn Gies along with son-in-law Nick and their daughter travelled to Chambersburg, PA. Cal and Jan Cashman had a visit from their granddaughter, Ashley, who lives in Plano TX. Her visit was followed by a visit from their granddaughter, Cassidy, who lives in Tenn. Bob and Sherry will be leaving on a cruise to the Greek Islands the end of Sept. Bob and Sherry’s sons Rob and Chris along with daughter-in-law Diana gave them a surprise 4oth Anniversary the end of August in Ann Arbor. The Angelosantos and Lardins have finalized their winter vacation plans and will be leaving on Feb. 6th for a week in Cancun Mexico. The TRI-V Picnic was held on Sun., July 15th at the Metalla Park in Wixom. There were 19 members, 1 prospective and 29 adult guests and wives in attendance. Final Golf Weekend took place the weekend of Aug. 17th in Kendallville IN.

MEMORIES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2012 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMP

We are sorry to report the loss of Virginia Buckley, 92, wife of Jim, who passed away. After the death of Jim she continued to be very active with TRI-V. We also reported the loss of Mildred Hoch, mother of Judy Lardin, on August 26. She went peacefully with both daughters at her side. Though not associated with TRI-V she would always ask Judy about the TRI-V family members. The Lardin’s kept busy with company from New York for a week; and then a trip to Illinois and then Larry and family came in from Texas; followed by a trip to Texas mid October to celebrate granddaughter’s 8th birthday. Tri-V golf season came to an end in August with Mike Trachsel, club champion for the third straight year. Pinochle was set to start Oct. 6 with play being at individual homes. This wraps up another trip down memory lane. Our old memories are something to share with one another. With school starting you might enjoy sharing with your children and grandchildren what it was like when you made your first day back to school regardless of what grade it was. Until next month, when we see you in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    September President's Message

Well it’s back to reality for kids and teachers alike. September has arrived and everyone is back in school. I hope all our Tri-V teachers, children, and school employees have a great school year. June will be here soon enough.
August was a busy month for Tri-V with two big summer events; final golf and the steak roast. The golf season ended with Dave winning the championship so we all decided to go up north to celebrate by golfing more. This year there was a very nice turn out for final golf (24 men in all). The weather cooperated much more than it did last year for us. No one came off the course soaked drenched. Thank you to Mike, Jeff, and Matt V., for making it a memorable weekend. The following weekend we held the annual steak roast at Rotary Park in Livonia. I was not able to make it, but it sounds as if a good time was had by all.
We will begin our monthly meetings next week (Tuesday, September 12) at Drakeshire Lanes. Since we have much to discuss at the September meeting we will begin at 6:00. If you cannot attend, please notify an officer in advance.
