    UPDATE ON TERRY CONNOLLY

Terry Connolly had his right shoulder replaced on February 21. It was called a reverse replacement, which means his motion will be using his deltoid muscle instead of his rotator cuff. It was his third surgery in the last year. Thank goodness he is a quick healer, and is doing well. He is now going to start therapy and should have full use of the shoulder in about three months.

Son Chris & family were in Bonita Springs visiting Kelly’s dad. We were able to spend an afternoon with them and stayed two nights with Cal and Jan. We also had dinner with Andersons and Lardins then all went to Cashman’s for games. It was great to be with everyone. George and Peggy paid us a visit.
Terry’s two sisters spent a week with us.
Frank’s family will be here for ? Easter.
We love having visitors so you’ll come down.

    March President's Message

March is truly a month of transition. We begin to see glimpses of Spring in the form of longer, sunny days, rain and wind storms and even some flower buds poking out of the soil. It sometimes seems like this transition is very slow moving. It was warm enough last week to ditch the jacket, but so cold this week I had to get the winter coat out again. Winter will be gone soon enough, but it does have a hard time letting go.

Marbles and Pinochle seasons have wrapped up. I wasn’t able to attend the final two marbles matches so I guess I didn’t win. Maybe next year. We will have final pinochle and marble at the Cadieux Cafe on March 26th.

This week we will hold the election of officers and council members at our Tuesday meeting. Please attend the meeting so you can cast your vote. If you will not be at the meeting, be sure to request an absentee ballot. We will start the meeting at 6:00 since it may be a long one. Hope to see you there.

    UPDATE ON JOHN LARDIN

John continues to do well with the chemo. John did have a problem with a toothache and we were fortunate to get into a dentist that same day. He has an infection under the crown and a root canal has been done on the tooth also. The tooth needs to come out but we have to get the okay from the chemo doctor before anything else can be done. He is now on amoxicillin and that has helped.

We do keep busy. We golf with couples from Century 21 on Sunday. John is not golfing since he doesn’t want to chance mayble falling. John is my caddy??? He drives the cart and gives lots of hints since I am not a great golfer–some days good; some days bad.

The year end party at the complex where we rent is March 21 and John is in two skits at the complex where Lee and Marian own. John has been in the C21 show the previous few years as he knows many of the people there from golfing with them.

We will be returning to Michigan the first week in Michigan–Judy plans to leave earlier than John but we’ll see who wins. Judy would like to be home on Wednesday, April 5 as John has a doctor appointment on April 7 in Michigan.

Please keep John in your prayers. He should be getting another CAT SCAN after appointment in April and we are praying chemo still helping.

    MARCH MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE MARCH 2007 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

It is never pleasant to have to report the loss of a member of the TRI-V Family. On Feb. 19th we lost Don Gasco, one of the original members. A memorial service was held for Don in Briney Breezes FL on March 11th. Peg Wendt is finally home and doing better but not perfect and Bob and Peg have decided to move into a retirement home and will become permanent FL residents in Lakeland FL. Dorothy Suchner was taken to the hospital on Feb 19th with a TIA attack. She went home on Feb 20th only to have another attack on Feb 21st and returned to the hospital for three nights. She was then released and is doing fine but will have test to determine what caused the problem. To all we ask you to remember all in your prayers. There were articles from Dion Angelosanto and Brian Trachsel on their evening of host pinochle in March and Final Pinochle was set for April 14th at Madonna University, Livonia. We had another reminder about the 70th Anniversary in June with more details of events planned for the day. Final standings for the 2006-2007 season were published with the big winner coming in first place was Lynn Barnes with 139 points, followed in second place Brian Trachsel with 138.5 points and Karlyn Gies in third place with 138 points.

MEMORIES FROM THE MARCH 2012 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

We ask our prayers go out to Earl Tishler who was hospitalized for a week at Oakwood Hospital and is now in assisted living at Arbor Hospice at Oakwood Commons Nursing Home and Babs Wagner is now at Grand Court Nursing Facility, Farmington Hills MI. Jim DeLanoy is tired of cooking, cleaning, shopping and being alone and is not at Cabot Cove Assisted Living, Largo FL. m Diane and Ken Plocharczyk became snow birds since Diane retired spending the month of Feb in North Ft. Myers near many friends and family. Vickie and Nick Angelosanto spent 18 days in Ft. Myers in Feb splitting the monthly rental with Jan and Cal Cashman. Judy and John Lardin had a busy month of Feb also. The first part of Feb oldest son, Johnnie, came on and r&r for a week and brought with him three dozen paczkis for the pre-Lenten gathering at the Lardin Condos. The end of Feb Bev, Mike and Alyssa (Judy’s baby) spend five days with Judy and John. Judy was the envy of the complex being able to show off granddaughter to the rest of the “mature” residents. Of course we played hand-in-foot very Tue afternoon and euchre every Thur night and a free concert each Fri at the mall. To go along with that we had a Condo Association bar-b-cue every other week as well as coffee and donuts every other Sat morning. Throw in a game night and a Mardi Gra party and you can see a busy, busy month. Of course when the temp is in the 80s almost every day and you have a heated pool in walking distance it becomes hard to find “dead” time. This year’s Family Event is a trip to the Toledo’s Imagination Station on April 1st. Final Pinochle was set for April 22nd at the Cadieux Café, Detroit. Final Pinochle standings for the 2011-2012 season had Brian Trachsel in first place with 127 points, Jane Trachsel in second place with 118.5 points and Karlyn Gies in third place with 131 points. There was another article on the 75th Anniversary Party to be held June23rd and June 24th in Chelsea MI. TRI-V Golf 2012 was set to begin on April 23rd at Hickory Hills, Wixom. This wraps up another trip down memory lane. I want to repeat what our President Lee Anderson wrote in his message in 2002. “Everyone enjoys hearing from you all and there is one thing everyone can do is send in an article for your friends to her what’s going on in your life.” And what Art Trachsel, who wrote the Trifles for so many years, wrote in his 2002 Anniversary greeting. “I enjoy the “Look Backs” (memories) at what we are doing years ago. Sometimes it seems like it could not be that many years. But those articles keep up in touch with the past while the rest of the paper keeps us abreast of the present. It is enjoyable to see the past brought up to date in our memory. What am I trying to say? Look at the current issues of the TRI-V Umph. Each issue seems to have less and less happenings about what is going on to share with the Family. If things keep going as the present pace, we will soon be able to just forget about the typing the memories and just put out one piece of paper with the President’s message, calendar of events and birthday/anniversary dates. Do I think it will come to that? I hope not but it is not far from it right now” These thoughts from Lee and Art were written 15 years, yes 15 years ago. How true they have come. Until we see you next month in print” the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
