MEMORIES FROM THE FEBRUARY 2007 ISSUE OT TRI-V UMPH
Our Dear Peg Wendt continues to have health problems and we continue to pray for her daily. We reported last month that Peg was in the hospital and now Bob was ready to take her home and she had another setback and remains in the hospital. Bob insist he is going to take her home next time to take care of her. We are als0o praying for Barb Gies’ father who was in the hospital and had emergency surgery the first part Feb. Barb and Jerry had returned to MI to be with her Dad and while here Jerry and to undergo surgery on his foot as he tore a tend0n n the top of his foot. We ask you to remember them in your prayers! Donna and John Clingerman have finalized their plans to visit daughter, Becky, who is serving in the Peace Corps in Africa. Before leaving Donna spent a week in CA with daughter Julie helping her plan the expected wedding in June. Ryan Trachsel, son of Jeff, will be leaving for Iraq in early March and we ask all of pray that God will look after Ryan. Sherry and Bob Kuhr are excited about coming grandparents again. Daughter-in-law Diana is due the middle of Sep., hopefully before Sherry and Bob leave for a trip to Greece the end of Sep. Judy and John Lardin were having house guest for two months as Gina, Brian and the two little ones, Bella and Dante, were moving in while they were waiting for their new home to be completed in South Lyon. The Count for the 70th Anniversary of TRI-V to be held in Cadillac MI the weekend of June 22nd through the 24th was up to 65 and all that are planning on attending are4 urged to complete their reservations. Final Pinochle was set for April 14th at Madonna University, Livonia. The FL winter golf trip for the “guys” seemed to change the last few years. This year was no exception. We used to leave on Thur. evening and start play on Fri. morning and were playing 36 holes on Fri, Sat, Sun and 18 homes on Mon before returning home. That switched to leaving early on Thur to be able to play 18 holes on Thur afternoon followed by the previously mentioned schedule. That switched to leaving Wed evening so we would not have to worry about missing a tee time on Thur morning because of possible flight delays, weather, etc. Since most of us were taking off work on Wed we decided then to leave Wed morning, giving us time to set things up at the condo and get a good night sleep before playing golf on Thur morning. As we aged the schedule went to 18 holes on Thur, 18 holes on Fri morning with 18 holes scramble on Fri afternoon, 18 holes sat and Sun morning followed by 18 hole scramble on Sun afternoon followed by 18 holes on Mon morning before returning home. As we “matured” we finally settled on just 18 holes per day with a later tee time so we would not have to “rush” (Not get up as early) in the morning. This year we got smart and after playing 18 holes on Mon six of us were met by our “brides” to spend another week in FL to recuperate. Pinochle standings thru Feb. play had Sherry Kuhr in first place with 119 points, Lynne Barnes in second place with 116 points and Cal Cashman in third place tied 114 points.
MEMORIES FROM THE FEBRUARY 2012 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH
There were two articles in the Trifles. Fist was from Jim DeLanoy informing of his new address now in assisted living with no interned or e-mail anymore. He was just tired of cooking, cleaning, shopping and being alone.
Nick Angelosanto and John Lardin had a successful drive to FL leaving MI at 6:00am on the 5th of Jan and driving until 9:30pm south of Atlanta (one hour from the GA-FL Border.) They arrived in Ft. Myers FL about 3:oopm, unpacked, went grocery shopping and made plans for the rest of the week. They played a round of golf on Sun and joined Lee Anderson and Tim Gies for a round on Tue before nick left for home on wed. Judy flew down on sat afternoon and on sun afternoon was on the golf course and started to make plans folr the rest of the weeks. Judy renewed old acquainanctes from previous years sharing stories since we left last April. Seems like there was something going on almost every day though at a much slower pace. On Fri, Jan 20th, son Mike hooked Judy up with skype and she was able to interact with Alyssa. When Alyssa saw “grandma she held her hands up and could not underestand why Judy could not pick her up. When they disconnected Judy told John “Check the flights for the weekend.” Bev and Mike were going out Sat evening and Judy said “I need to go home and babysit” so she was onboard a plane Sat morning at 11:30am and returned to Ft. Myers at 3:00pm Mon. Oldest son John is coming down on Feb 8th returning to Mi on Feb 13th then Bev, Mike and Alyssa will be coming down on Feb 17th returning to MI on Feb 24th. The first part of March Judy and John will be flying back to MI to celebrate granddaughter Bella’s birthday then back to FL until the first part of April when they will depart for Judy’s mom’s home in IL to celebrate her mom’s 89th birthday and Easter and return to MI on April 9th. Feb 4th there will be tri-v pinochle in north Ft. Myers. there might be mnore playing here than in MI with the Andersons, Cashman’s, Connolly’s, Gies, Hoffman, Kuhrs Lardins, Trachsel’s and Geri Ruetenik plus a few other possibilities. Jan and Cal Cashman and Ellie and Terry Connolly arrived in Ft. Myers on Jan. 31st and Vickie and Nick Angelosanto will be arriving on Feb 11th. the Connolly’s are in the same complex as the Lardins and will be here until the end of March while the Cashman’s will be splitting their condo for the month of Feb with the Angelosanto’s, the Cashman’s get first half of the month and Angelosanto’s the remaining half of Feb. It is good to see members of the TRI-V Family down south in the winter months.
There was an article about the nomination of officers to be held at the Feb meeting and election at the March meeting. The family event was scheduled for March 25th or April 1st at the Toledo Imagination Station and Final Pinochle was set for April 21st at Palazzo di Bocce, Orion MI. There were articles on pinochle at the Schaefer’s and at Del Tura, North Ft. Myers FL. Pinochle standings through Feb play had Brian Trachsel in first place with 120 points, Jane Trachsel in second place with 118 points and Vickie Angelosanto in third place with 113.5 points.
This wraps another trip down memory lane. Have you noticed that the ten year memories seem more than the five memories? Some times each month you read about the same people. This happens because these people took the time to share their happenings with fellow Club Members through the TRI-V Umph. No need to feel like you are “gloating” or being embarrassed to tell us what is happening. This is our life line with the rest of the Members. Please, please take the time to share you happenings with the rest of the Members. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
