    JOHN LARDIN UPDATE

John started his 11th of 12 chemo treatments on Nov. 28th. His last treatment is scheduled for Dec. 12th and then a cat scan will be taken to determine if the cancer has stayed stable and what treatment will follow. He is getting a cortisone injection under anesthesia with flouroscopy on Dec, 7th in the left hip to hopefully relieve some of the pain. He has been cleared to go to FL and arrangements are being made to continue with any cancer treatment necessary while in FL for the winter. Travel plans include another trip to Corpus Christi on Dec. 1st to celebrate grandsons Jacob birthday and Christmas also. Upon the return FL plans can be made and looks like now they will be leaving the second week of Jan. Again we thank all for the prayers, cards, visits and phone calls. Hard to put into words how special they are.

As we celebrate this special day let us continue to remember in our prayers and thoughts those TRI-V Members and the extended Family Members we have lost this past year and continue to remember those Members and Family Members still in need or our prayers. MERRY CHRISTMAS TRI-V AND HOPE THE COMING NEW YEAR IS BLESSED FOR ALL.

    DECEMBER MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE DECEMER 2006 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

How much difference five years can make in the health of the TRI-V Family. We continue to ray for Peg Wendt who is coming along slowly following her stroke and two weeks in the hospital as she was very weak. Jim DeLanoy ended up in the hospital for a couple of days after feeling a weakness on his right side. He was diagnosed with a TIA and was doing okay at this time. John Lardin’s recovery from knee replacement continued on track as he continues to go to outpatient therapy three times a week as well as doing exercise at home each day. News of travel included six TRI-V couples, the Hoffmans, Schaefers, Andersons, Connollys and Kuhrs on an amazing tour of the US National Parks out west. Judy and John Lardin and John’s sister, Mary, made a one day trip to Akron OH to join in a surprise 90th birthday party for John’s aunt while Judy’s Mom flew in to celebrate Thanksgiving with John’s family. Diane and Ken Plocharczyk became grandparents for the first time with the birth of Jaiden Renee to Ken’s son Keith and his wife Jen and Judy and John Lardin became grandparents again with the birth of Jacob in TX to Kim and Larry. The Children’s Christmas Party was held on Sunday, Dec. 17th at Madonna University, Livonia, while plans were made for those interested in attending a Christmas Concert at Ward Church, Northville. All those planning on attending the 70th Anniversary Party in June at McGuire’s Resort in Cadillac MI were encouraged to make their reservations. Pinochle standings through Dec. play had Judy Lardin in first place with 73 points, Vickie Angelosanto and Jan Cashman tied for second place with 70.5 points and Tim Gies in fourth place with 70 points. There were 20 Christmas greetings in this issue.

MEMORIES FROM THE DECEMER 2011 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Health wise the TRI-V Family was in pretty good shape. Those in need of our prayers were Ken Plocharczyk who had a total knee replacement on Nov. 9th. The surgery went well but there was complications involving the catheter. He was sent home with a catheter which made things a little more difficult.

Cal Cashman went deer hunting on Nov. 11th – Nov 18th at Lake City MI with three other friends. Jan was disappointed again as Cal had no luck though one of his friends did get a buck. Two of Jan and Cal’s daughters made it in for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Daughter Kathy and family flew in from Buckey AZ and daughter Kelly and family drove in from Franklin TN. They enjoyed the week with the children and grandchildren.

Judy Lardin left the week before Thanksgiving to spend time with her Mom in IL. John, Bev, Mike and children drove down the Tue. Before Thanksgiving and Judy and her sister fixed Thanksgiving dinner for the 18 of us. Bev, Mike and kids left on Sat. to return to MI making a stop to visit Bev’s aunt in IN while Judy and John returned to MI on Mon. Judy and John left on Dec. 7th flying to Corpus Christi TX to celebrate grandson’s Jacob fifth birthday and returning on Dec. 12th in time to celebrate grandson’s Dante seventh birthday. Jacob and Dante’s birthday are Dec. 16th.

30 people attended the Nov. Social which was a road rally around Detroit taking photos of themselves and landmarks or our area and the Children’s Christmas Party was held at FB Wright, Dearborn, with 24 members and spouses, 5 adult guest and 17 children in attendance. Pinochle standings through Dec. play had
Brian Trachsel in first place with 74.5 points, Jane Trachsel in second place with 69.5 points and Vickie Angelosanto in third place with 68 points.

As in 2006 there were again 20 Christmas Greetings. It is fun to look at old Christmas decorations that are no longer available and the memories that go with them. We enjoy sharing these memories with the family, especially the grandchildren. Keep in mind that yesterday becomes a memory. Maybe take the time to jot a note and put it in a drawer, box or somewhere that in the future you can look back and let it open from that hidden part in the brain that it is stored.

That wraps up another trip down memory lane. I hope you will have a wonderful holiday season and that 2012 will bring all that is good for each one of you. Continue to take good care of each other until we meet in print next month, the Good Lord willing.

    November Marbles

We hosted Marbles on November 5th @ 6:30pm with 10 people in attendance. They were George & Peggy Hoffman, John & Judy Lardin, Nick & Vickie Angelosanto, Brett & Lynne Barnes and Cal & Jan Cashman. Each couple brought a dish to pass so we had some delicious food to enjoy. After eating, talking and watching some football, we got down to the serious part of the evening — playing Marbles!

The scores from top to bottom were George 13, Vickie 11, Brett 10, Nick 8, John 7, Lynne 5, Cal 4, Jan 3, Judy 2 and Peggy 1. These was a lot of ” friendly ” competition which made the evening fun for everyone.

We enjoyed hosting our friends and look forward to the rest of the Marbles season.

    Helene Ryan

I was updating my Christmas card list and called Imperial Health Center to see if Helene was still with them. Helene Ryan was 100 years old on February 28 of this year. She is doing well. They could not tell me more because of the Hipa law.
