    August President’s Message

Why do the summer months always seem to fly by? This July was no exception. Fortunately with all the hot, dry weather we had, we were able to spend plenty of beautiful days at the cottage, friends houses, ball fields, and golf courses. Speaking of golf, the golf league is close to wrapping up. I don’t expect to factor in on any winning this season, but it has been fun. Thanks to Jay and Dave for continuing to change things up and keep it interesting.
This month we held our annual family picnic at Rotary park in Livonia. As always it was a great day for gathering and having fun as a club. The kids all enjoyed playing the games. Thanks to John Mackson and Dave for putting it all together and taking up the slack for Jack who couldn’t be there.
Enjoy the rest of the summer. It will be gone before you know it.

    Golf League Updated

I’m liking everything about having one flight except for the fact that I can’t get any points! Nice rounds by Jay (35) and George (37)! I guess shooting a 40 (Bill) is only good for 6th place… wow. The race for the 2nd half has gotten even closer, with George now joining the race at only 4 points back from the lead. Jay is even still in it at 8 points back, while Mike has lost a little ground at 2 points back from the leader, Dale.

The wildcard is also close, just look at the scores… wow!

P.S. George, Brian, Jay, and Gerry all dropped a score this week.

    Golf League Updated

Someone should tell Gerry he won the first half and can lay back and relax… he just keeps getting better as the weeks roll on. Nice job Gerry with your 2nd low net in 3 weeks. Meanwhile the race for the 2nd half just got tigher by 1 point as Mike won the pillowfight for 7th place over Dale’s 8th place. The wildcard is still up for grabs with several golfers still in the race. 6 people are within 5 points of the last spot.

FYI, Dale, Lew, Mike T, Steve, Chris, and Bill all dropped a score this week. Next week George, Brian, Jay, and Gerry will drop a score.

    Visiting Blondie

Bill Forsyth said the newest move has been hard on Blondie. He will let us know when he thinks visiting is okay.

    Golf League Updated

The 2nd half leaders have officially emerged, with Dale and Mike running away with it so far. Dale had a 5 point lead, but after Mike’s 37, the lead is down to 2 points.

The wildcard is also a tight race with Jay, Mike, and Dale all at the top, but several others only 4 to 5 points back. It should be an exciting finish down the stretch with 4 weeks left!

    Golf League Updated

Hi everyone! I was not at golf last time but was able to make up on July 4th. Mike and Brian also pre-golfed with me on July 4th. Mike shot a 37 (net 31.1) and Brian shot a 49 (net 37.7). Mike also hit the greenie on 7 and was 31′ 5 1/2″ from the cup. Let’s see who can beat them!

    Anniversary wishes (late)

    To my Tri-V family,

Happy anniversary. My apologies for not being there to celebrate with you all. My prayers go out to all that are facing challenges in their lives, whether health, work or social.

My lack of attendance was due to a health issue for me. I have just undergone gastric bypass surgery. After seeing the results of many people in my life and feeling the drain of active toddlers, I made the decision to move forward.

I am excited about the changes already and look forward to seeing you at an event soon.

    Regards,

    Matt Hoffman

    JOHN LARDIN

I would like to thank the TRI-V Family for all their prayers, calls and cards during my recent illness. The simple hip replacement has tuned in to being a major procedure. I have lost more weight (about 60 lbs) than thought and this has effected my medication for the sugar and blood pressure. Between trying to get the meds at a favorable level and try to have physical therapy it has been a struggle. I have had to cancel the therapy at least once and now to complicate the problems I am scheduled to start chemo on Mon., July 11. As my primary doctor said “You have been through many bumps in the road and there are still a lot more before all is over.” Judy has been more than an “Angel” through all this and know I would never have made it without her. Can still use the prayers and thank all of you again.

    JULY MEMORIES

MEMORIES FROM THE JULY 2006 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

A check of my records did not show a TRI-V Umph being published in July 2006. At the time we were in the process of changing editors/publishers. Now would be the chance to sit in the warm evenings and try to remember special memories from that month.

MEMORIES FROM THE JULY 2011 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

We are happy to report of no known members of the TRI-V Family being in ill health and in need of our prayers. On the bright side our congratulations go out to our President Matt VanHollebeke on his marriage to Kli in June and Onallee and Bill Trachsel who celebrated their 66 years of marriage on July 14th. New arrivals to the Trachsel Family include Delaney Jane who arrived on June 14th to Amber and Steve Trachsel. John Mackson was getting ready to start his first season as Head Coach of the University of Michigan-Dearborn Men’s Basketball Team after a successful five seasons at Taylor Kennedy High School, Taylor, and to Beverly Lardin who’s college she attended on a scholarship in Kansas City MO team was inducted into their College Hall of Fame, the first girls team to be so inducted.

All kinds of movement in the TRI-V Family with members and family coming and going. Judy Lardin after having cataract surgery on June 16th and followed again on June 30th made a trip with three days at Kalahari Water Park in Sandusky OH and on her return to IL to spend a week with her Mom. Karlyn and Tim Gies daughter Lisa Sponsky and kids made a trip the middle of June for a week visit with Mom and Dad then Karlyn and Tim spend the weekend of July 4th at Rainbow Lake to visit the Kathy and Art Dushary. Onallee Trachsel and the Gies will be visiting with Diane and Ken Plocharczyk and Art Trachsel the last weekend of July.

Congratulations were due to Dave Burke on his hole in one Monday at golf and perhaps an equally impressive quarter drip in the shot glass as the VFW after golf. Final Golf is set for the weekend of August 19th – 21st at Ray’s Retreat in Gaylord MI, the TRI-V annual Picnic on July 17th at Mettala Park, Wixom and the TRI-V Steak Roast on August 28th also at Mettala Park, Wixom.

This wraps up another trip down memory lane. Unfortunately not many memories to share but that is what is going to happen in our daily lives if we don’t take the time to share our current memories. I continue to ask your prayers for my current medical condition and this is one memory I will never forget going through. Until we see you next month in print, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.
