    June President’s message

Today we turn the calendar to June. This simple act puts a smile on the face of every child and teacher across the state. We have made it through another year. Hopefully all of my fellow Tri-V teachers, teacher aides, para pros, and other school employees have had a good year. I know you are ready to have some time with your own kids for a change. Enjoy your summer break, you all deserve it.

The men’s open house was held in May at Beacon Hill Golf Course. Nick, as always, did a great job of organizing the event. I’d like to say that it was a beautiful day on the course, but unless you enjoy cold drizzle and sleet while golfing, you were probably wishing to be somewhere else. Once we all dried off, we enjoyed a very nice dinner and even played some cards.

The Anniversary party is coming up on June 17th. I didn’t see it on the club calendar of events, so I thought I’d throw in a little reminder. You should get your suit dry cleaned and start looking for your pin (P.S. it’s still on your suit coat).

    Tri-V Golf Week 6 (2016)

The Tri V league golf 1st half is winding down and first place is still up for grabs. Gerry Whitefoot (Gerry bowls with the back to back Tri V championship bowling team) is leading but there are 7 golfers within 6.5 points. With a couple weeks left in the 1st half and 8 points going to low net every week it is wide open. Good luck to all golfers.

    From The Lardins

I want to thank everyone for all their prayers, phone calls, cards, visits, and many good wishes during my recent procedures and surgeries.

Please keep myself and the doctors in your prayers for the next few months.

All your support has been wonderful for Judy and me.

Hopefully by the time you read this, my hip surgery, scheduled for May 25, has been done and I will be in recovery mode—the hip has been bothering me for months and I am ready for the pain to be gone.

    Thanks again.

    John

    May Open House 2016

Thanks to the 24 golfers who showed up to golf in the sunshine, rain, hail, wind and what we call great “Michigan” weather. Scores were close except for the winning team who shot 67. The last place team shot 73. The Beacon Hills Golf Course worked with us and did not charge us for the missing golfers. Next year we will be golfing at either Beacon Hills or Brentwood on May 13, 2017, the second weekend in May.

    June Memories

MEMORIES FROM THE JUNE 2006 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

The month of June 2006 was not one of the best months for TRI-V with the loss of long time member Beecher Todd on June 3rd at the age of 90. Beech became a member of TRI-V in the fall of 1937 and being a Vice-President of Surety Federal Savings and Loan he soon became Club Treasurer until his status became local inactive. At that point he became the unofficial Club photographer. He will be missed. Our prayers also went out to Bill Trachsel who fell while taking a shower. Miraculously he did not break anything though he seems to have hurt his rotator cuff and has his wrist in a brace. Onallee Trachsel will be having hip replacement surgery in late July.

Cy and Dorothy Richeson are moving back to MI and living in the Presbyterian Village in Redford. Club members were traveling everywhere it seems. Bill and Shirley Suchner returned to MI for the summer via Amtrak’s Auto Train and had plans to return to FL in the fall the same way. Saves a lot of time driving. Art Trachsel made a trip up to Hattiesburg MS the flying up to Fling and will spend four weeks with Diane and Ken Plocharczyk returning to Sarasota FL the end of Aug. Jeff and Karen Trachsel have been busy going to FL for two weeks then off to Vegas for Karen’s daughter’s wedding then down to South Carolina for Ryan’s graduation from basic Marine training. Tim Gies and family will be traveling to Sandusky OH and the Kalahari Resort and Water Park for a family reunion. Finally Judy and John Lardin did their monthly travels to San Antonio TX to visit son Larry and Kim with Mike joining them later and on return all three making it to IL to spend time with Judy’s Mom. This was followed by a trip to Niagara Falls Canada staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel overlooking the Horseshoe Falls. The rip was a retirement, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day present from son Mike.

New retires include Judy Lardin from Ford Motor Co. and Jacqui Schaefer from her in-home day care. Jack celebrated her retirement with a trip they made to TN to visit Susie and Terri Dunham. Susie Dunham has been accepted as a humor card freelance writer for American Greetings Card Co. The Initiation Dinner for Jerry Gies was held on June 9th at Walker’s Speakeasy. There were 34 members in attendance, 24 active and 10 local inactive. The annual Steak Roast was set for Aug. 5th at Mettala Park, Wixom, the Men’s golf weekend Aug. 18th-20th at Kendallville IN and the Children’s Christmas Party on Dec. 17th at Madonna University, Livonia.

MEMORIES FROM THE JUNE 2011 ISSUE OF TRI-V UMPH

Once again we have to share the loss of two TRI-V Club Members. First there is Don Winters, one of the original Club Members on My 26th. Don was the last of the original five members. We also lost Member Dave Ruetenik, husband of Geri, who passed away on May 11th after a long illness. Our prayers go out to the families.

Judy and John Lardin continue their travels this time to Corpus Christi TX to attend granddaughter Christine kindergarten graduation and on their return Judy celebrated the first birthday of daughter Alyssa and that was followed by cataract surgery on June 16th on one eye and on June 23rd for the other eye.

The annual TRI-V picnic will be held on July 17th at Mettala Park, Wixom, and the Steak Roast on Aug. 28th also at Mettala Park, Wixom. Final Golf is set for the weekend of Aug. 19th – 21st at Ray’s Retreat and Country Inn, Gaylord.

This wraps up another trip down memory lane. A lot to share for 2006 and not much for 2011. Please keep in mind that though we have face book and a TRI-V Web site not all have or use these electronic wonders. I think the Newsletter is still the main source of information to share with Club Members. Every day there is a new memory that happens. Don’t let them get lost in our daily shuffle of life. Take the time to share them with each other as well as our family members. All of them are precious, don’t let them get lost. Until we see you next month, the Good Lord willing, take care of one another.

    From The Plocharczyks

Many of you heard that our oldest TriV member, Art Trachsel age 95, had been declining both physically and mentally. He was totally bed-ridden, no appetite, barely able to speak etc. for a few days. Gradually he has strengthened and progressed to a more normal routine – going to the dining room for meals, sitting in his recliner, conversing with us and the staff, and watching the Detroit Tigers! Thanks for your prayers and many messages of support.

    Diane and Ken Plocharczyk

    Tri-V Ladies Lunch

Ten Tri-V ladies had lunch at Claddagh’s Irish Pub on Saturday, May 21. In our private room we sat at a large round table centered with a huge lazy susan. It appeared that every woman ordered something different from the menu. Lots of sharing was done via the lazy susan. It was nice being with friends in such a relaxing atmosphere.
