    May President’s Message

We are inching ever closer to that day when I can safely replace sweaters and long pants with T shirts and shorts in my closet. Although we are not quite there, we have had two great days on the golf course. The golf league got underway on April 18th and my game is already in early season form. It usually only gets worse from here as the bad habits slowly start to return.

The beginning of golf usually signals the end of bowling, and what an end it was for the old sandbaggers of Tri-V. The elder Tri-V team of Jay, Brian, George, Eric, Jerry, and sometimes Romas destroyed the competition to win their second consecutive championship. Congratulations to them.

In April we had the final pinochle/marbles event at the Cadieux Cafe. Romas was crowned the champion of pinochle and Steve became the first ever marbles champion. He has promised to build himself a trophy (we’ll see about that).

I hope to see everyone out at Beacon Hill golf club for the men’s open house event on May 14th. Until then; stay safe, get out in the sun, and pull some weeds (if you don’t have any weeds, come on over).

    Tri V golf

The Tri V golf season kicked off on Monday April 28th with a warm sunny 78f day. We had 19 golfers play the 1st day. That’s the most people to golf on the league for many years. So far 13 people have said they will be in the prize money with a few more possibly joining this week. This will be the most people in prize money for many years, so things have started well for the season.

    From John & Judy Lardin

This winter has not been a good one for John Lardin. The weather in FL this year was not good as we normally got 1.9 in. of rain in Jan. and this year we had 19 in. of rain. The month of Feb. was mostly cloudy with the daily temp lucky to get in the mid 70’s. March was more to all likings with the temp finally hitting the low to mid 80s. The only thing to add was the two tornados that were within two miles of the condo. On the personal level John was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in Jan. and given a cortisone shot hoping to relieve the pain. Unfortunately this did not help so John was stuck with the pain and made arrangements to have the hip replaced on his return to MI on April 18th. The blood work showed his count at 8.2 and should have been between 11.2 and 11.5. The hip replacement was cancelled and a colonoscopy was performed on April 20th and a tumor was discovered in the lower part of the colon. A colonoscopy will be performed on April 29th to remove the tumor and hope the tumor has not moved into the lipoids and chemo will not be necessary and the hip replacement will be completed as soon as possible. We thank all for your prayers a well wishes.

With John’s condition not improving he was fortunate to have his “Little” Brother fly down to Ft. Myers FL and drive back with Judy to MI. There is no way that John physically could have made the drive. Just another example of the caring and love of the TRY-V Family that continues.

    May Tri-V Club Memories

MEMORIES FROM THE MAY 2006 ISSUE OF THE TRI-V UMPH

May 2006 issue of the TR-V Ump was one of the most varied issues in recent times. We started out requesting our prayers to the Little Family on the passing of Mary Ann Little; spouse Al, on her passing the end of April. Bill and Mary Ann moved to Chicago and ran a successful printing business before Al. passing. She spent her last 20 years in Elk Rapids MI. Our prayers were also needed for Art Trachsel who received a pacemaker the first part of May to regulate his heart rhythm and Lynn Barnes who underwent hernia surgery on May 11th and also to Karlyn Gies who continues to struggling with a painful knee though she was not ready to join the knee surgery just yet. Dorothy Richeson was suffering some discomfort from a fall. Though only badly bruised she spent three days in the hospital and then transferred to a rehab center where she is receiving therapy to help with her balance and strength for walking. Our congratulations went out to Matt Hoffman and his pending marriage to Christina in Mexico and to Judy Lardin on her retirement from Ford Motor Company on May 1st. Jay and Liz Trachsel were traveling to Las Vegas the first week of May while Jeff Trachsel and Karen Thrift were traveling to North Fort Myers for 12 days then to Las Vegas to attend the wedding of Karen’s oldest daughter and then to South Carolina for the graduation of Ryan Trachsel from Marine Boot Camp. John and Donna Clingerman were traveling the South East looking for the perfect retirement area and finally Vicki Angelosanto was flying to Arizona for a quick visit with her sisters the middle of May and returning with her Mom to spend the summer. The initiation Dinner of Jerry Gies was scheduled for Friday, June 9th, at Walker’s Speakeasy on Beech Daily Road, Dearborn Heights, with golf planned earlier in the day at Gateway Golf Club in Romulus. The TRI-V Picnic was set for Sunday, June 25th, at Gunnar Mettala Park, Wixom. He Girls Weekend was set for August 11th – 1th in St Joseph MI. It was five year ago the Lee and Marian Anderson purchased their Florida Home in Fort Myers.

MEMORIES FROM THE MAY 2011 ISSUE OF THE TRI-V UMPH

Please continue to pray for Earl Tishler. He is out of the Skilled Care Oakwood Commons. He was unable to return the assisted living area and is now a resident of the Alzheimer/Dementia unit. He no longer has a phone. He seems to be doing fine. His stroke has compromised his life and it is taking time for his adjustment. We (all) are taking a one day at t time and doing our best.

Little Dominic Mackson, son of John and Robyn is in his youthful glory. He had a 15 minute surgery on April 19th to remove his tonsils and adenoids and for a week was able to get to eat as many popsicles and surplees he wanted.

Congratulations to John Mackson who was voted Coach of the Year by the News Herald for boys’ basketball season. Although the team did not repeat as Downriver League champs, they did win their District.

Those traveling in May had John and Judy Lardin making a trip to Corpus Christi TX to celebrate granddaughter’s Christine kindergarten graduation. This will be their first trip to TX since December of 2010 and they miss seeing their TX family. Upon their return Mike, Bev and family along with John and Judy spent Easter in Illinois with Judy’s Mom. Judy’s Mom continues to do as well and has adjusted to her limitations and we can ask no more than your prayers.

The TRI-V Children’s Easter Party was held on Saturday, April 23rd, at the Fairland Woods Apartment Clubhouse, Dearborn. There were five families with nine children and nine adults. Final Pinochle was held on Saturday, April 15, at Leon’s of Wixom with 25 of the faithful gathered. There was a variety of different games played. Final Pinochle standings for the 2010-2011 Pinochle season had Jane Trachsel in first place with 142.5 points, Mike Trachsel in second place with 140 points, Jeff Trachsel in third place with 139 points and Vickie Angelosanto in fourth place with 137 points.

The TRI-V Steak Roast is scheduled for Sunday, August 28th, at Mettala Park, Wixom, with dinner to be served at 4:00PM.

The Girls Weekend Getaway is set for September 20th with a dinner show and one nights stay at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth.

This wraps up another trip down Memory Lane. So much to write about one month and so little for another month but that is how things have been going. The month of May is also the month when we pay special attention to our Mothers, Grandmothers and our wives. Do all your best to honor them in some way. Until we see you in print next month, the Good Lord Willing, take care of one another.

FOR ALL MOTHERS AND GRANDMOTHERS ON MOTHERS DAY

We have printed this before but feel it is worth repeating with all the new Mothers we have in TRI-V the last couple of years.

… And God Created A Mother

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when the angel appeared and said “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one…Six pairs of hands? No Way!”

“It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” said the Lord. “It’s the three pairs of eyes…one pair that sees through closed doors when she asks,”What are u kids doing in there?…Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know. And, of course, the ones here in the front that can look at a child who goofs up and says, “I understand and I love you.” without so much as uttering a word…”

The angel circled the model very slowly “It’s too soft,” she sighed.

“But tough!” said the Lord excitedly. You cannot imagine what this mother can do or endure.

    “Can it think?”

“Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise and dream,” said the Creator.

Finally the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek. “There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told you you were trying to put too much into the model.”

“It’s not a leak,” said the Lord. “It’s a tear.”

    “What’s it for?”

“It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride.”

“You’re a genius,” said the angel.

The Lord looked somber. “I didn’t put it there.”

    Golf League Updated

Welcome back to Tri-V golf, 2016 edition! What a great way to start the season, weather-wise. I hope it also was good for you golf-wise, even though it wasn’t for me. Oh well, first time for the season.

I noticed some people picked up where they left off last year like Nick and Jay who shot well in the first week. I especially noticed Jack’s score, who would have won low net had he gotten in. However, I don’t think it would have counted with those replaced knees… is that legal?

Please note the flight configuration and points are subject to change at this point and will be solidified when we know who all is planning to golf this year. Also, please get your money in to Jay ASAP. The cost is the same as ever, $30 per half.

    • Your committee: Dave Burke & Jay Trachsel

To get to the scores, click here, or go to the “golf league” page, via the link above. Please let me know if you find any errors.

    From Tim & Karlyn Gies

It is official Tim & Karlyn are homeless in Michigan.  Tracey and family visited Florida early April.  We all went on a fossil dig on the Peace River.  Everyone golfed several times including the kids. Then spent three days in Universal. Later in April Lisa and family came.  We went on a sunset cruise and a air boat alligator trip ending with dinner at Solomon’s Castle.  Then Tim & Karlyn leave for Brussels on May 12th.
We will be in Michigan the last week in July and most of August. Hope to see many of you then.
