    Golf League Updated

This week I decided to shoot a “Mike Trachsel” meaning golfing like crap to start the half. Bill Trachsel also tried this strategy after being the most consistent golfer in the league the first half. We’ll let you know how it goes.

I hope everyone realized last week was the start of the second half. We are planning for 7 weeks in this half, barring any more rainouts. We are planning to golf during “Trachsel Vacation”, which is August 8th, due to the majority of the league being able to golf. Finally, we will be off next week due to the Independence Day holiday.

    Golf League Updated

Coming into the 1st half final, we had 8 people with a shot at winning, and really only 2 of those “contenders” actually showed up. In the end Mike Trachsel was the winner, shooting an eagle on the 9th hole to top Terry Connoly by 0.6 strokes. The win also prevented a first half tie with Terry, who finished 2nd in points for the week and for the 1st half.

This season’s 1st half was very short, with 2 rainouts causing a 6 week half. We also had a very tight race, which hopefully is a reflection of the scoring and HDCP changes made over the last two years. I think more parody in the league is good, giving everyone a chance to win, as long as they step up when it counts. Next half we are planning for 7 weeks, including the “Trachsel vacation” week, as we will have over 50% “in league” golfers available (as last year).

Congratulations to Steve Trachsel, who with a little help from his wife Amber, gave birth to a baby girl (Delaney) last Monday the 13th. In an unrelated note, Steve was not at golf last week, I’m still not sure why.

Good luck to everyone the 2nd half!

    Golf League Updated

I have updated the scores for the golf league “after week 5”.

This is the final week for the 1st half, and we’ve got a really tight race! It looks like 8 people have a legitimate shot of winning as only 2.5 points separate 1st place from 8th place.

I want to mention I found an issue with the scoring in my spreadsheet, sorry for the inconvenience. It looks like I had it using HDCP from the CURRENT week instead of LAST week for the CURRENT week’s scores. Example: week 5’s scores should be using week 4’s HDCP, not week 5’s HDCP. If it doesn’t make sense, please follow up with me at golf on Monday. I’m thinking about bringing my laptop this week so we can review the scores in detail if you want. Here is how everyone was affected: Romas & Bill T. are losing 0.5 pts, Terry is losing 2 pts, Matt V. is gaining 0.5 pts, and Mike L. is gaining 2.5 pts. Sorry again to those golfers who were affected!

Regardless, the race is still close and its anyone’s game, so good luck this week!
